  • WhyAyeMann , Total of Four people were killed . Engineer and Firemen and Two people in the Caboose. There was a Fifth person on the train , but he jumped and only broke his leg. and of course lived.

  • Hey Is it Okay i use the Audio for a Video i'll doing?

  • IS IT ME OR DOSE IT LOOK LIKE A TWISTER IN THE BACKGROUND AT 0:38 IM NOT SURE BUT LOOKS TO IT COULD BE ONE

  • Ouch! What a mess. My long time friend Nicholas remembers this wreck. He was a PRR employee in those days and just weeks before, he took 4030 on a run and when he found out about it, he was devastated, and he still is, to this day.

  • TheUnknownAvenger, How old is your friend? My friend from Church his Father worked for the PRR and was on the extra board that night but had called out sick. his last name was Yost. Ask your friend if he remembers the name.

    Len.

  • @Conrail6370 Hi Len. My pal is 92 years old, and he lives along the former Pennsylvania Railroad line to Saint Louis, MO.

  • nice video. i wish i could get this midi file! its awesome.

  • howardkevinm, It's called power drive but it's through my editting program. I can send the SDS file but I'm not sure you could play it.

    What's your Email.

  • @Conrail6370 have you heard of the 1946 Congressional Limited crash?

  • this was 2 days after Pearl Harbor??! wow...

  • What locomotives were in the accident?

  • 2 days after Pearl Harbor. Must have seemed like the whole world was being wrecked to those involved.

  • looks like a bad day

  • I know about that, the switch was left open to the siding. Did PRR rebuild the engine or scrap it? It's always makes me cry when I hear or read about a PRR wreck. PRR is my favorite road and I thought they were accident free.

  • I worked on a railroad for 24 years, and while some are better than others, no railroad is accident free! It's the nature of the beast.

  • what was the death toll?

the music makes it seem like the begining of an 80's sitcom

  • The Engineer and Firemen and the Breakmen in the caboose of the other train. I do know their names but I would have to hunt for the news paper clipping.

    Len.

  • what locomotives were involved in the crash?

  • Does anyone know the cause of this wreck??

  • Yes, It was a very foggie night, and the engineer didn't see that the switch was lined for the Frick siding.

    Len.

  • Whats the name of the music?

  • I'm not sure, the music is part of the editting program I used to put this video together with.

    Thanks for stopping by.

    Len.

  • @up4004 mp3ify the song, it rips it right out of the video for ya.

  • considering it was WWII, Im guessing it did get a restoration and back in service. But im not sure due to the fact i dint see the engine in the video.

  • No. 4030 was scraped on site. it had blew up some in the wreck. PRR Acrchives talk about it in the Railroad Museum of Pa.

    Len.

  • ahhh...I see...

  • you can see the locomotive in the first part of the video and here at 1:20 No. 4030.

    Len.

  • WOW...that poor 2-8-0!!! Hopefully it got a full cosmetic restoration for regular service!!! LOVE the Pennsy!!...the Juniata Branch used to go through Hyndman, PA where I live. That was a hot stretch of Pennsy mainline for L1 Mikados.
