I've seen the entire movie numerous times. As I've said, if he was at the funeral and crying over her body then I would be lead to believe he was crying for her. Anytime I watch the scene of him going crazy and hacking the tree, I never think it's because of the overwhelming love he had for his daughter. I think it had more to do with him losing control over his life and his family. I never felt any real remorse from his character. So what I said is still what I believe.
