I have Oily T-zone/Combination Youth skin, and am looking for a tinted moistorisor. I have spots, but no acne, so i have pretty clear skin but am looking for a slight coverage and nice radient look. Stila sounds good but which do you recommend for my skin type? Moisturisors sometimes make my skin look shiny cause i have oily skin... Which do you recommend?
I had stila sheer color one as well, but I find its texture kind of greasy ( cant be easily blended) I had combination skin. that is my first tinted moisturizer and ever since them I cringe whenever I saw a tinted moisturizer. but recently I was thinking buy a non oily tinted moisturizer with high SPF under my power makeup. I am interested in BECCA, just wondering if you have ever tried it. :)
Omg I feel you on the tinted moisturizer over foundation! I never liked the way foundations look on my face, no matter what I use I feel like people can always tell I have makeup on. I personally would rather have people think I have NO makeup on! Have you ever tried Boots No7 Soft and Sheer tinted moisturizer? I use it daily and I LOVE it. For $12 dollars at Target I feel like it's a steal. It's probably the only product I don't have thats from Sephora or Ulta LOL.
I'm a minimalist when it comes to makeup and I'm big on skin care. I'm usually just a tinted moisturizer and mineral foundation gal. Thanks for sharing!
Like you I love the way a tinted moisturizer gives a light coverage that is just enough. But when I use it, my skin end up looking white when taking photo with flash. Do you have any solution for this?
Thank you for doing this video. This is exactly what I needed to help me begin my search for a tinted moisturizer that will work for me. Keep up the great work. I love seeing e
Love this!! My favorite tinted moisturizer is laura mercier tinted moisturizer in Porcelin! too light for my skintone though...i probably need the color "Nude"!
im so glad i found this review! i have been wanting to try a tinted moisturizer because, like you, i don't need the coverage of foundation. i also hate the way foundation feels on my skin. i'm also very pale like you are (if you put a bunch of freckles on your face you'd have mine ^_^ ) and i have a hard time finding products that match my skin tone. thank you so much!
Could you please do a review on the Clarins tinted moisturizer! I am thinking about buying it, but would really like to know more about the product :)
okay so i wana buy this tinted moisturizer that basaclly looks like a big tampon lmfao.. its like pinkish orange and has a pink little string on top and its a drugstore product. i was wondering does is cover and does it look oily . if you know wat kind of tinted moisturizer im talking about then pls answer my question :)
I've always used Benefit's Rebel moisturizer and I really wanted to try a new one because it makes my face oily after awhile. I'm going to try one of the Stila's now. Thanks for the "overview" :)
@thelostkimmu I don't believe I said otherwise but in my experience, most face products like foundations and tinted moisturizers made by Asian brands are too dark for my skin.
@pinkiecharm hahahahahaha! u obvi don't know ANYTHING about asians and their skin, and REAL asian companies that are from asia. u r prob using some fake, or something cheap from lower parts of china. hahahahaha can't believe u said that.
@goldgalore35 Well obviously I wouldn't be an expert on Asian skin because I'm not Asian. o.O I can only go by my own experience and as I said, when using products like foundations and tinted moisturizers and BB Creams made by Asian brands like Shiseido, for example, they're too dark or too yellow/beige for my skin. This isn't a difficult concept and only my opinion.
@goldgalore35 "HAY YAALLL OK OK OK OOK SO" Obviously every asian-made product isn't incredibly pale, or the right undertone for everybody. OBVI because you're an expert, you would know that asian skin tends to have more yellow undertones and it can sometimes be difficult to find a perfect match if you don't have those undertones. From what SHE HAS EXPERIENCED, it sounds like she hasn't found the perfect asian-brand face makeup for her skin. And I don't see how you aren't grasping that concept.
I have the Aveda TM, and it is wonderful! Have you tried it yet?! :-) The 00/Sheer is what I use and it looks beautiful. Very light coverage!!!, but that is what I wanted, just to smooth out my skin! It really makes my face airbrushed and flawless... :-)))
Hey pinkie! Could you please do a review on the Aveeno positively radiant tinted moisturizer. Please? I know you love tinted moisturizers and this one even had a pump :)
@SuperCheeks1234 I use my regular moisturizer before I apply any makeup and that includes a tinted moisturizer. I have dry skin so I can do with the extra moisturizing but if you have oily skin, you could probably substitute a tinted moisturizer for your regular one.
Hello !You really should try (& review) the tinted moistrz. by Sonja Kusak (spelling??) It's really, really good. Great coverage. I was shocked by the coverage it has. It has spf in it too. It's sold at Target. It's only $13.99 &for that price I think it's great.I would pay up to $40.00 for her tinted moistrz. easy. Most ppl can't find it even on Target's website.I find it in Target all the time.It must be popular b/c theres only like 4 bottles left when I go. Please review it.You will Luv itHugs
I just picked up the Stila illuminating and spf 30 tinted moisturizers on their website for $16 and $17 each yesterday! There were in the last call section. Are they changing packaging or discontinuing the products? I also got the Make Me Blush palette. So excited!
@Auedemair Heeey, she meant like .. well light coverage is like, it's very light weight and it doesn't completely cover flaws, etc. if you don't have to bad skin, heavy coverage is if your skin is really like flawed and you need to really cover it up!
Which tinted moisturizer do you recommend for oily acne prone skin? something that has decent coverage not light weight? also something for the summer that wont slide off? sorry for so many questions :p i trust your word lol
i know that, but have you ever tried it?it has sheer coverage and is indicated for all skin types, not mentioning the sun protection factory 15.don't you have any interrest at all?
I was just wondering why you didnt include the Nutrogena skin sheers, as in you raved about it in your review? How does that compare to your current selection of TM's.
@123akify I didn't include it because I used it all up. Also, the Neutrogena Skin Sheers isn't so much a tinted moisturizer but more a lightweight foundation, which is another reason I wouldn't have included it in this video.
@pinkiecharm maybe she meant MAC select moisture cover SPF 15 which is, in fact a tinted moisturizer. I bought it a couple of days ago and have been using it everyday ever since and I'm IN LOVE! gives me a good amount of coverage for a tinted moisturizer and it feels amazing on my skin
@ALiSsDr That may be but they are two different products, foundation versus tinted moisturizer. And I have already reviewed the MAC tinted moisturizer, but thanks. :)
@AlinaGeorgina Everyone has a different answer, but in my research, the general consensus is an SPF of AT LEAST 15 is better than nothing, but 30 is better. Anything over 30 won't help much more as the difference in protection time in the sun is minimal.
I was just on the Sephora website & I saw "hope in a tinted moisturizer" from philosophy that I hadn't seen it before. It is a new product on the website, & I know I have not see it at my J.C. Penney's Sephora (which carries a much more limited selection than Sephora Stores or the website). Have you ever seen or tried it? Particularly, do you know what kind of color the "Extra Light" shade is (i.e., warm yellow/orange/peach, neutral beige, or possibly cool blue-pink [fingers crossed])?
@MissJupiterWheels that's a very specific question I highly doubt she is going to have an answer to, because of how specific it is and it is obvious that she hasn't tried it since she didn't include it on this video. What you can do is go to makeupalley and look for reviews and I'm pretty sure the ladies there will have the answer
@ALiSsDr@ALiSsDr I did go on Makeup Alley first, & there are no listings for it. I know she doesn't own it, or it would have been in the video, & I asked if she had seen or tried, not owned, it. I think It was a reasonable question, considering how much she likes both "philosophy" & tinted moisturizers, has access to a real Sephora Store to try testers, & that we are both pale pink girls who would investigate the same shades; she is the most logical person to ask, or request a review on it.
I have been thinking of having one, would you plz recomment me one that would be great for me " fair"? I really do not know which one would be good !! Thx so much :)
@maxscar18 You don't have to do so, but I find that depending on the primer, it can help the tinted moisturizer last longer. However, tinted moisturizers seem to transfer no matter what I do. *lol*
@danceforlife814 My hair is growing, but I can't make it grow any faster than it already is. *lol* Besides, I don't like myself with really long hair.
What moisturizer do you use for everyday (with SPF)? I use a Bath&Body Works one. It's the True Blue Spa Zero Tolerance Face SPF 45. What would you recommend? I hate going under SPF 45, probably because I HAVE an SPF 45 one and going under when I don't have to, I just don't like.
Hi! I was wondering if you'd seen the Stila sets that have been sold in CostCo for a while. I think I've seen ... 3? 4? different sets. I think there was a warm set, a cool set, and two different "You" sets. Or maybe the You sets were the warm vs cool set. *ponders* I dunno.
Anyway, they're super affordable, but I'm pretty unfamiliar with the brand and was hoping you could review the lines offered in the sets. I keep wanting to pick them up when I pass by.
@theKettleXBlack To get all the benefits of your sunscreen, it should go on your naked face but since most broad spectrum sunscreens don't get along with my dry skin, I tend to use a moisturizer or a tinted moisturizer/foundation with SPF instead. It isn't as good as actual SPF but it's better than nothing. If you're wearing sunscreen, the order should be sunscreen and then tinted moisturizer but I usually use my moisturizer, then primer if I'm wearing it and then my tinted moisturizer.
@beautybyme10 I have already Studio Moisture Tint. Please search my videos before requesting a product review. You might get lucky and find I've already done it. ;)
Hey Irene! i loveloveloveee your reviews and am wondering how you feel about the clinique brand. Id love to hear some of your favorite/not so favorite products from there or just your opinion overall.
I'm always very frustated with tinted mosturizer because I feel like i have nothing at my skin i know they are not foundations but at least a little coverage would be nice
so I tried the Estee Lauder new day plus tinted and I was blown away kind of expensive but you should go in the counter and see I tried there and i was sold
You should try the Hard Candy tinted moisturizer. I used to to an Almay foundation but I started not liking how it looked on my skin after a day at school so I switched to the tinted moisturizer and I love it. It gives a pretty good amount of coverage (enough to even out most redness) and it looks very natural. I have mild acne so I Covergirl Simply Ageless foundation on spots that show through the tinted moisturizer and the products blend together well. I'm the lightest shade, by the way.
Have you ever tried the Studio Gear tinted moisturizer? I have always wanted to get it but, its a little expensive. I trust you a lot, please review it!!
do you have a tinted moisterizer recommendation for redness prone skin or rosacea because i have rosacea and am looking for a good tinted moisturizer that really hydrates my skin and also gives me good coverage to conceal my redness
I was wondering if it was possible to talk about dior products. I am really interested in them yet I am not sure i am willing to spend the money, but if you havent got any dior products thats fine!
Have you tried Bobbi Brown's tinted moisturizers? I think of the Bobbi Brown tinted balm (glass jar) as a life time favorite. I would be interested to hear your thoughts on the product. Thanks for this great review.
hi pinkie! (: I was wondering, I have the makeupforever HD foundation and its kinda light for me, could i mix my laura mercier tinted moisturizer with it to make it darker? I'm afraid the consistency will look really streaky on me or something of that sense
can you do review on self tanners? like lotions? ive heard good reviews about jergens natural glow revitalizing daily moisturizer. i wanna use it maybe 2 weeks prior to spring break to look at least semi-tan because i am usually really pale. can you do a review?
I had a question for you. With tinted moisturizer and primer, I'm always confused which to apply first. It always seems counter intuitive to put on the primer first since the moisturizer would then have no where to go and not get into the skin. Then again with a foundation, you put that over your primer (obviously) but you put your moisturizer below your primer. Help! Which do you apply first? :)
As I have said about a thousand and twenty times, I use a light hand with my makeup. If you cannot see it well enough for your tastes, I'm sorry, but I have no control over that, nor is it my problem.
Hello, would you please do a review on the Revlon Colorstay Aqua Mineral Foundation? I really appreciate your reviews b/c we have the same type of skin, general appearance, and taste.
I freaking love tartes smooth operator. its better then any foundation i have yet to find. The coverage is amazing and its nearly impossible to cake up, I also love the finish...its not matte or too dewy. :)
hey i love tinted moisturizers! I'm actually surprised you don't have any bobbi brown ones.
my main concern about the illuminating moisturizer by stila is the ingredients , apparently there is horrible stuff in it. did you try the eyeko extra glow cream. i think this might be similar but maybe thicker consistency. i really want to try that one.
If you live in the UK, TKMAXX has Stila sets for £5 with 3 products in, and another one for £7 with 4 products in! You get an eyeliner, eyeshadow and either the oil free tinted moisturiser or the iluminating one.. and one of the kits also includes a lipstick!! Really good deal!! I really like the Stila moisturisers!!! :D
@123akify A broad spectrum SPF with a number higher than 15 will protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays. The Laura Mercier T/M isn't listed as having broad spectrum protection but you can always apply a broad spectrum SPF before your tinted moisturizer.
I was waiting for this vid since so long! Thanks Irene! Btw, I have the Stila illuminating tinted moisturizer and it´s great, but I have a question: how do you apply it? With your fingers, with a stippling brush? What do you think is the best method to apply it? Thanks again for all your amazing vids!
In general I would not trust the SPF in makeup. More often than not it is unstable, ie worthless, or provides UVB protection only. This is allowed because SPF refers only to UVB protection. In winter, and to prevent premature ageing, it's UVA protection that we really need. I always use a "proper" broad spectrum sunscreen under makeup whether it claims to provide protection or not.
@BellamyBlue I agree completely, however there are folks who cannot wear a "proper" broad spectrum sunscreen on their faces. And I think some SPF is better than no SPF when it comes down to it. And any broad spectrum SPF with a number over 15 does provide UVA and UVB protection, but as you said, most cosmetic products don't use a broad spectrum SPF.
hey irene. this is probably a really stupid question but if i use a moisturizer that has an spf of 15 and then another face product that has a spf of 15 does that mean i have a total spf of 30 on my face or is it still just 15. thanks xx
@melino188 No. Unfortunately lumping SPF products together doesn't increase your protection. (Wouldn't it be nice if it did though? :)) If you apply an SPF of 15 and then one of 30, you will have a protection of 30.
I have Oily T-zone/Combination Youth skin, and am looking for a tinted moistorisor. I have spots, but no acne, so i have pretty clear skin but am looking for a slight coverage and nice radient look. Particularly, do you know what kind of color the "Extra Light" shade is (i.e., warm yellow/orange/peach, neutral beige, or possibly cool blue-pink [fingers crossed])?
MissJupiterWheels 1 year ago
@MissJupiterWheels that's a very specific question I highly doubt she is going to have an answer to, because of how specific it is and it is obvious that she hasn't tried it since she didn't include it on this video. What you can do is go to makeupalley and look for reviews and I'm pretty sure the ladies there will have the answer
ALiSsDr 1 year ago
@ALiSsDr @ALiSsDr I did go on Makeup Alley first, & there are no listings for it.

The only one I have really tried and like is Pf mineral wear tinted moisturizer.. But I have super oily skin type.

Should you use a primer before applying tinted moisturizers? If it helps I use the tart smooth operator.
maxscar18 1 year ago
@maxscar18 You don't have to do so, but I find that depending on the primer, it can help the tinted moisturizer last longer. However, tinted moisturizers seem to transfer no matter what I do. *lol*

Thanks!

Do you apply an additional moisturizer before sunscreen or your tinted moisturizer?
theKettleXBlack 1 year ago
@theKettleXBlack To get all the benefits of your sunscreen, it should go on your naked face but since most broad spectrum sunscreens don't get along with my dry skin, I tend to use a moisturizer or a tinted moisturizer/foundation with SPF instead. It isn't as good as actual SPF but it's better than nothing. If you're wearing sunscreen, the order should be sunscreen and then tinted moisturizer but I usually use my moisturizer, then primer if I'm wearing it and then my tinted moisturizer.

2worldswings 1 year ago
You should try the Hard Candy tinted moisturizer. I used to to an Almay foundation but I started not liking how it looked on my skin after a day at school so I switched to the tinted moisturizer and I love it. It gives a pretty good amount of coverage (enough to even out most redness) and it looks very natural. I have mild acne so I Covergirl Simply Ageless foundation on spots that show through the tinted moisturizer and the products blend together well. I'm the lightest shade, by the way.

@anechkafspb1 I'm sorry but I don't use self-tanners.
pinkiecharm 1 year ago
I had a question for you. With tinted moisturizer and primer, I'm always confused which to apply first. It always seems counter intuitive to put on the primer first since the moisturizer would then have no where to go and not get into the skin. Then again with a foundation, you put that over your primer (obviously) but you put your moisturizer below your primer. Help! Which do you apply first? :)

I freaking love tartes smooth operator. its better then any foundation i have yet to find. The coverage is amazing and its nearly impossible to cake up, I also love the finish...its not matte or too dewy. :)
freshblooms 1 year ago
hey i love tinted moisturizers!
WeroGorki 1 year ago
If you live in the UK, TKMAXX has Stila sets for £5 with 3 products in, and another one for £7 with 4 products in! You get an eyeliner, eyeshadow and either the oil free tinted moisturiser or the iluminating one.. and one of the kits also includes a lipstick!! Really good deal!! I really like the Stila moisturisers!!! :D

i have a Q about Laura mercier- i heard that the SPF is only for the sun burning rays NOT the aging rays???
x
123akify 1 year ago
@123akify A broad spectrum SPF with a number higher than 15 will protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays. The Laura Mercier T/M isn't listed as having broad spectrum protection but you can always apply a broad spectrum SPF before your tinted moisturizer.

Hey Irene.. Would you do a review on the stila Hollywood palette number 3 (the gold one)? Thanks!
ticklemepink1411 1 year ago
In general I would not trust the SPF in makeup. More often than not it is unstable, ie worthless, or provides UVB protection only. This is allowed because SPF refers only to UVB protection. In winter, and to prevent premature ageing, it's UVA protection that we really need. I always use a "proper" broad spectrum sunscreen under makeup whether it claims to provide protection or not.
BellamyBlue 1 year ago
@BellamyBlue that's a good point
truthxbeautyxlove 1 year ago
@BellamyBlue I agree completely, however there are folks who cannot wear a "proper" broad spectrum sunscreen on their faces. And I think some SPF is better than no SPF when it comes down to it. And any broad spectrum SPF with a number over 15 does provide UVA and UVB protection, but as you said, most cosmetic products don't use a broad spectrum SPF.

hey irene. this is probably a really stupid question but if i use a moisturizer that has an spf of 15 and then another face product that has a spf of 15 does that mean i have a total spf of 30 on my face or is it still just 15. thanks xx
melino188 1 year ago
@melino188 No. Unfortunately lumping SPF products together doesn't increase your protection. (Wouldn't it be nice if it did though? :)) If you apply an SPF of 15 and then one of 30, you will have a protection of 30.
