Ehhh...i'm sorry, but the US opened a second front in europe in 1944. The Sovjets were allready fighting hitler in 1941. Without the sovjets hitler could have had "succes" with his 3000 year empire! I agree with what you say entirely but it wasn't only the Americans who opened the second front in 1944, they made up around half of the attacking force. The remainder were British, Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, Rhodesians etc etc. It'd be more accurate to say that the Western Allies opened a second front in 1944.
