  • ya' know its funny... they wouldn't let there children attend school for fear of AIDS, but they (and) there children are cool going to stand near him in court to make shure he gets the "book" thrown at him.

  • Those people made Ryan's life & that of his family hell. Stupid is as stupid does.

  • The mother was too nice. Had it been me, I'd of had everyone eating out of my hand on their knees. I don't take shit from anyone and I'd never let anyone fuck with my kid. I hope all those people feel regret and remorse for what they did to Ryan. RIP Ryan.

  • I dont care how scared people were back then that gives you no right to treat people like that!!! Disgusting!!

  • I understand why everyone was scared. AIDS was a new thing and people weren't educated on the subject. But surely you didn't have to shun the boy because of what he had! He got it from a blood transfusion, for crying out loud, shun the blood transfusion! NOT RYAN! It wasn't his fault...

  • 8:50 "nobody knows how you can get it"? Ya just sign it anyway...stupid idiot!!

  • @smoke10108 You first.

  • Gosh thos people are ASS HOLES... This boy is going to die and there being so horrible to him. Stupid ass pigs

  • okay know if i were a parent i coudn't help but feel a little bit worried but i wouldnt want to keep ryan out of school and they had to be so nasty and ostracize him because gay people started aids not ryan and he wasnt gay so that just shows you how ignorant people are i mean who the hell thinks a boy his age would have homo sexual not that theres anything wrong with gays a straight person would have caught it just as easy

  • the principal is so dumb and heartless

  • People do not ....if i saw something its going be shit........i rather ot say

  • where is Ryans dad ???????

  • 4:27 OUCH!!

  • Ryan is one strong little boy. If I was sick and was told I'd never be allowed back in school, I'd say "ok".

  • @arthuronfacebook Go to hell.

  • @pickleband Oh how nice of you!!!........GO TO HELL YOU STUPID FUCK!!

  • This all boils down to ONE THING: EVERYONE'S scared to die.

  • there goes my old middle school in 0:22

  • whats safe, being around people with aids or around people that you don't know that have it? Treat EVERYONE the same. be safe but not MEAN or HEARTLESS. the thing is WE ALL GONNA DIE OF SOMETHING so treat each with LOVE UNDERSTANDING RESPECT cos when we DIE WE ALL GO TO THE SAME PLACE IN THE GROUND .....

  • I can kinda understand why the community acted the way they did...it was a new disease and they didn't know a lot about it. But at the same time, these people are human beings and they should be treated as such.

  • Even in 2010 there are still people who will refuse to have their son/daughter go to school with an HIV positive child. That is so disgusting!

  • Too bad they didn't know much about AIDS in the 80's. It's controled and treated now. Thank goodness for modern technology.

  • I think MJ met Ryan around about 1988/1989 around about then.

  • HICKS!

  • @celebrei you think people from Indiana are hicks? Indiana is almost part of the midwest wich is far from being a hick state!!!

  • they have to realize if that was they child they would want they child to be in school and 2 b treated the same.!

  • The prosecutor here is Peter Scolari, I'm sure everyone knew that.

  • is there a clip with mj in it?

  • @joshnasa2000 No, sorry.

  • @joshnasa2000 MJ can fuck off and die. Ooops too late.

  • Why does there have to be negative posts? This is a serious matter.

  • that town he lived in were a bunch of buttholes!!! i hope they have paid dearly for how they treated him!!! he got to meet a bunch of famous people, and lived a great live, and where are they now?? a little town in Indiana that know one cares about. R.I.P Ryan you have made a great inpact on people, you are deeply missed!!!

  • people are just affraid of what they dont understand

  • wow i wonder how those people feel now

    at the beginning

  • curse those peple i want them to be in ryans shoes and see how it felt RIP RYAN WHITE WE MISS YOU

  • ignorant town's people

  • i agree..how can they treat people like this.....I would have slaped them people treating him like that...they are ignorant & stupid & ryan did not deserve that

  • I know and I do agree and what`s their problem now days people can`t get

    a

people can`t get AIDS from a touch or amosquito bite tell them to stop buggin

  • what inbred hillbilliy white people! To keep the boy away from school! Jerks!

  • It wasn't just white people who discriminated against him, you moron. And how many times do I have to explain that Indiana does not equal hick or hillbilly? Jesus, it's in the North for goodness sake.

  • @Vatfryer Back then no one knew how the disease was spread and getting it was a death sentence. We'd never do it now because we know more about the disease, but try to look at it from their perspective. They were in fear....

    That poor kid :-(

  • @Hudak0581 rasist !!!!!!!!!!1

  • Who's the bitch that started the petition? What's her name? Imma shank the hoe!

RIP Ryan ignorant ppl like that should be punished by their own guilt!

  • I Can`t Believe They Try To Make His Life Hell...Tey Should Go To Fucking Rehab.

  • How can people be so HEARTLESS? Jesus Christ, HE COULDN'T HELP IT!

  • @yiyalaportecheer12 everybody thought u ganna get aids and that he was gay. this is because it was new

  • @yiyalaportecheer12: terror based on misinformation can do a lot of damage. I wouldn't want someone with SARS sitting next to me or Ebola. It's was thought to be deadly and highly transmissible back then. They were just protecting their kids and themselves. And you know once an idea has taken route, especially if mob mentality is involved there's little hope in changing it. I'm not excusing them, but just pointing out the situation was not black and white. Even the doctors couldn't be sure

  • These people are juhs to Paranoid.

    They're full of crap.

  • gee ppl can be ignorant

  • i completely agree but you have to remember that AIDS only started being known in the 80's and people didnt know as much about it as they do now

  • people are so dumb

  • Once again I will say this story is sad and embarassing to people in Kokomo/Russiaville, but not all of the people were like that, Ryan did have some friends, although very few, but there were people that cared.

  • Comment removed

  • it wasnt even tht lil girl fault it was her brother.

  • its so sad that Ryan White was killed by AIDS something that he could not help. Poor kid.

    Let him rest in peace.

  • how did the whole town find out about Ryan contracting AIDS????? medical issues are suppose to be confidental

  • It probably wasn't the medical professionals. His friends found out, and that's probably how it was spread

  • I know Mark Miller - who plays the angry newspaper guy! I was in some movies with him! Thanks for posting this.

  • That's awesome! You're welcome, I hope you enjoyed it.

  • @krispykreme327 you were whats he like on set?

  • @MatrixGalvatron He's really nice & down to earth, but very professional. :)

  • @krispykreme327 nice haha

  • OMG SOOO SAD!!

  • 0:10 what a bitch

  • Bloody hell. Thank god we know more about it now!

  • I have has this disease for 28 yeats now~and am not scared of telling anybody anymore. In the old days it was like this even perhaps worse for an adult, Ryan fought everyone to bring us freedoms today, and his Mother fought for a insurance so that others with AIDS will live a longer life and productive life!

I watch this movie poignently and with tears~remembering my own familys denial, and others paranoid hatred of me. But yet I am still here and not scared anymore! I forever more am alive !

  • You must be a very strong person. The people who were cruel to you were ignorant assholes.

  • I'm glad you are here to benefit from the advances in AIDS research. From a scientific standpoint, those were the dark days of AIDS and it truly is amazing you made it though the 80's. Now, from what I've read, treatments are getting better and better every day. I'm glad that I can honesty say that there is no reason you won't live a long life. Continue to educate and stay well:)

  • @kreed1 Forever is a very long time, I don't think any of us have that long. (^_^) But I am very happy for you, it's amazing you're still okay when you caught it in the 80's!

  • Ignorance mixed with paranoia, not the BEST combination I've seen.

  • Exactly.

  • 1985 AIDS was a world away from being understood but information was still there. press around the world didn't make it easy. but the information was out there coupled with any amount of common sense

  • Even AFTER you know that the AIDS virus isn't contagous except if you share blood?? Or are you quoting the movie?

  • Great great movie.

  • These parents are igorant.

  • But you can't blame them. No one at the time knew how it could really spread. Everyone was ignorant...everyone.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying. If a new, widespread epidemic were to occur again, most people would be reluctant to believe information acquired since the disease is so new.

Like the FDA, not approving new drugs because of unknown side-effects.

  • they still are. People from small towns are stupid and ignorant

  • I'm from Indiana and I am not ignorant. And obviously Ryan, his family, and the people of Cicero were not ignorant. You, however, are quite ignorant and apparently love to show your true colors!

  • The true meaning of ignorance is not knowing something, you are ignorant of certain facts

these people at that time were definitly ignorant and scared, I dont blame them

  • i can agree with you... even to this day when someone says they have aids or you know they do , it can be awkward. its a scary disease. HIV and AIDS. it just has a bad sounding name, like crack, crack just sounds bad, if it was called crackle, it wouldnt be frowned upon as much they should call aids or hiv, the bee HIVe. or something.

  • those people in Kokomo Indiana REFUSED to understand AIDS to eliminate fear and judgement and that's what made them ignorant so how dare you excuse how they treated Ryan cause you sound ignorant yourself and i could see you as one of those ignorant Kokomo residents back then

  • where does it say i excuse them, i only said they are ignorant of what AIDs truly is, i never said whether they were right or wrong, i look at things from both sides, these people were scared even though they went about it the wrong way, i can understand where they came from

we live in a stupid world, people today know what AIDs is and still dont take the simple precautions they need to keep from getting it, and b/f u can even comment i am not talkin about children or rape victims

  • oh now i see where you coming from and i apologize because i was pissed off from watching movie, that i let my judgement of you cloud me and i'm sorry. i'm mostly angry at how Ryan was treated and i kinda took it personal because i know first hand what it's like to be poorly misunderstood. But what you said in the 2nd paragraph was profound and i agree with you 100%

  • "i know first hand what it's like to be poorly misunderstood."

As do we all. Which is why people should be out there helping to educate others, not getting mad at and isolating ourselves from others.

I work in Healthcare and have worked with AIDS patients. One in particular was homosexual, had sex with every guy imaginable, until he got sick. This was just 3-4 years ago.

  • i understand that people back then were afraid of getting AIDS, but the Kokomo residents were so busy hating Ryan, that they didn't wanna take the time to get to know him or educate themselves with the epidemic to eliminate fear and misjudgment!!! and yes i have to agree with you when you say todays society don't have the brains to take simple precautions from getting AIDS and this is where misjugment comes back in, you think someone is clean when they're not

  • Actually, it was about half the town or less that didn't educate themselves at the time. I suspect the principal of the school was one of them.

Those people who were "so afraid", had no problem going up to their home, the guy had no problem returning that paper and going inside the White home, etc. Strange, huh?

  • you are so right. the hypocrities that kept saying they were so afraid of Ryan had no problem stepping up to his home creating disturbance and the guy with the paper should've had his ass kicked for even walking into Ryan's home.

  • What you need to understand is that they didn't know, and even the doctors weren't sure of just how uncontagious AIDS is. I was a year younger than Ryan, and I remember this very well. People all over the country were popping up with it, and it became an epidemic for a while. No one know for sure how people were getting it. They knew a few things, but NOTHING like what we know now.

  • I know you would think they would at least reasearch AIDS before being mean to poor Ryan.
