@seadog1955 it was shorted out which made the engine stall. To restart the engine all you needed to do was bang on the gas tank while someone cranked the engine.
i have a 93 dakota and the fuel pump went on it. i looked through youtube for a few videos of how to replace one just to make sure i do it right. i didnt like the other videos i found but yours i did like but then again it wasnt so discriptive of how to do it and next you make a vid use less "yeahs" it gets anoying really bad bro, but all in good words. oh and one more thing i think i know why it didnt start on the first turn, i didnt hear you pump it to get the gas going through the lines.subed
First of all DO NOT tell me how to make a video! Im the one thats making the videos, and im not going to make a video that follows your standards. If i come off as rude it is because i get tired of being crapped on by other peoples rude comments here. Making videos is very hard work!
HEY BUDDY!!! i was yankin your leg jussst you know relax. i do the same thing in videos when i try to explain stuff and even when im not on camera so im just tell someone that makes a bunch of vids and likes to post them on youtube that "hey less umms and yeahs make your videos better thats all" but i commented on yours cause everyone elses wasnt worth sitting there and watching all three videos like i did yours. and i bet it is hard work making the vids, get a bud to help you out next time-->
<---you make a video like this so he can hold the camera and film you and so that you dont have to struggle when doing something.now for truck talk. i didnt know you that wasnt needed to start it, im not ganna have enough characters to type what i want to say, message time
As for the truck you dont need to pump the gas to start it because its fuel injected. Removing the bed off the truck is not hard, but i suggest spraying the bolts with rust penetrant, and use an impact wrench/ short socket extentions to remove them. Their are four bolts on each side of the truck bed if i recall.
I guess so, but i dont think it would make much difference. Im more concerned about replacing the spark plugs, wires, and cap right now. I dont think the last owners ever changed them in the 3 years they owned it.
I always thought Delphi was a good company that manufactured quality parts. I'm not sure that GM owns them, but rather has their parts contracted into their vehicles.
This makes me a little worried actually. In a truck, you can take the box off and access the fuel pump for servicing... but in a car? man that would be more of a pain in the ass to fix lol
I have replaced gas tanks in carburated cars before, but this is my first electric in tank fuel pump replacement. With the plastic tank it makes the job alot easier. The car fuel tanks are shorter in depth than the trucks, so dropping the fuel tank is not too hard depending on the vehicle. Just make sure you got it properly supported, and most of the fuel siphoned!
I hope so. This is the best quality part Napa provided. A whopping $384.00! The reason it costed so much is the assembly is made by the Delphi company. I wanted to buy a halfway decent assembly because i wanted it to last unlike a cheaper low quality part. Besides most cheaper aftermarket pumps are crap. My brother installed cheap Napa fuel pumps in a Ford F350 once, and they burned out within a block. Anyways the Delphi pump was much cheaper than the Mopar which costed $617.00!
Which is easier? Moving the bed, or dropping the tank? I dropped the tank on mine. It wasn't so bad.

If you gotta take the box off to change it in a truck, then would you have to take the gas tank off to install it in a car?
wilkes85 2 years ago
in a car you have to pull the tank usually but sometimes you can get to it under the rear seat

if ya put new O2 sensors in you will likely get better fuel economy.

Oxygen sensors are EXPENSIVE. My truck has 3 of them and at over 100 bucks a pop. What a racket.
IhateUallman 2 years ago
some are expensive some not. Just like catalytic converters. Chrysler uses some cheap cats so maybe their oxy sensors are cheap too..

How much money did you save?
biggray94 2 years ago
Maybe about 500 to 700 dollars. Just think of what the part costs plus the shops markup on that part plus installation!
