I am a Musical Supervisor for a film production company in Florida and I am very interested in using this piece in a feature film about an American Muslim CIA agent. I have limited information provided from the site "Android market" If anyone can help me find further information I would very much appreciate your time ! Thank you. Simon
A-MA-ZING. Behold the possibilities of the human voice. Thank you so much for introducing us to this wonderful singer. Could anybody tell me though what the instruments used for the bourdon are? Thanks <3
The song is by Sister Marie Keyrouz, a modern-day Lebanese Maronite-Catholic nun who specializes in Middle Eastern and Byzantine music. The composer writes in both Aramaic/Syriac as well as Arabic. Azam Ali is a fan of hers - despite the diff. in religion. Azam Ali actually explicitly said that she was Sister Marie's and another nun's fan - St. Hildegard von Bingen - another composer of sacred liturgical music, albeit one from the Medieval period.
@OrionPD That's interesting. I was surprised when I heard it for first time because I thought it was based on a Persian maqam that was identical with a Byzantine echo.
@asf04 The hymn is Arabic. It's Lebanese... The composer, Sister Marie Keyrouz, is a Lebanese Maronite-Catholic nun who writes sacred hymns in Syriac and Arabic for use within her Church.
@OrionPD@OrionPD how can it be sister Marie Keyrouz when fairuz had sung it probably before Keyrouz was born? i will put the link again: watch?v=1ZWWlemUCq0
I'm not sure who wrote it, but i suspect it is a translation from latin.. if u can make some research and find the origin of the psalm, please share your information
this is a composition by Soeur Keyrouz who is originally from Lebanon based on a byzantin old chant from their ritual on the resurrection of Christ everything is byzantine if ure familiar with this: the background choir, her inflections breathtaking performance by this persian goddess.transcend all cultural and ethnic barriers and diffuse peace and calmness. btw correct spelling is Inna l Malak

Opened this on face book and utube just a few seconds apart and got a superb doubled play with her voice following closely behind in a wonderfully atmospheric round. She is gorgeous and very talented!
How amazingly movng and etherial. What higher expression of humanity is there than the flowing of a soul like this?
It is only too sad that such art and passion has to be compromised by commentary from the pig-ignorant and insensitive. If you cannot appreciate this, then please stay silent. I really wish there were ways to reach out and slap you into some respect and dignity.

My translation:
"Indeed, the angel said, we are blessed by her
O pure virgin, rejoice, and again I say, rejoice!
Because your son has risen from the tomb on the third day
Be enlightened, O New Jerusalem, because the glory of your lord has illuminated you!
Rejoice now, and praise (God), Jerusalem!
And you, O pure one, O mother of God, be pleased with the resurrection of your child! "
I do love her rendition of the song, but she doesn't pronounce all of the sounds correctly, like the 3ayn. Oh well
daitenshimetatron 1 year ago
The lyrics, which are all in Classical Arabic (fuS7a):
إن الملاك تفوه نحو المنعم عليها
أيتها العذراء النقية إفرحي و أيضاً أقول إفرحي
لأن إبنك قد قام من القبر في اليوم الثالث
إستنيري يا أورشليم الجديدة لأن مجد الرب قد أشرق عليك
إفرحي الآن و تهللي أورشليم
و أنت يا نقية يا والدة الإلة اطربي بقيامة ولدك
There's no Latin, no Greek here, though the song is used in the Arabic Byzantine rite

i have all their C.D.'s and i am familiar with the poetry of RUMI that she sings ,i'v lived in Turkie.
I can say the concert was great
more so when at the end we meet with all of them ,
incredibile beautifull souls all of them ,
They are an example of love ,
beautifull like the music and songs ,
and the angelic voice of Azam .

Opened this on face book and utube just a few seconds apart and got a superb doubled play with her voice following closely behind in a wonderfully atmospheric round. She is gorgeous and very talented!

Her accent isn't that clear when she's singing...I can't really understand all the lyrics! Does anyone have them?

If some one can send me the lyrics to this beautiful song, I would really apreciate it.
And, on a frivolous note: does Azam mean, by any chance, "empress"?

Probably by now you have gotten the answer to your question of what Azam means. In case you haven't, Azam means Great, Grand, Magnificent.
