I have kept up this case and YES Jeff killed his family. He killed his wife in rage and then accidentally killed his oldest daughter and then his cold blooded heart went and actually murdered the 2 year old daughter. Your judgement day is coming for you when you die and go before God and BOOM......bye bye...sent to hell I guess
A killer who ends up using something from the house as a weapon (in this case a piece of wood from Kimberley's bed), often turns out to be someone from inside the house, as opposed to a stranger or strangers who've broken in. This suggests the murders were done in a more spontaneous fashion. Also, killers rarely enter a home & THEN start to look for weapons in the house to use. And I know it's not mentioned where the knives came from, but still. This whole thing reeks of MacDonald being guilty.
Bs, this poor guy was framed. easy to drag people across rooms if there almost dead or dead, like his wife. and most likely someone or someones let these freaks in. Duh, 3 weapons out back, where the killers left, yet he planted all that. bs
@78alissa What would be the point of "dragging" a victim to another room, in this case carrying Colette from Kristen's room to the master bedroom or picking up Kimberley and putting her back in bed, with the blankets tucked up around her? Signs of staging done by a family member. The weapons came from the house - they didn't get further than right outside the back door, 'cause that's all the further the "poor guy" dared venture after he killed his family.
here the case is bigger than you think .. Ted Gunderson was involved in this case .. and he proves .. it was a satanic ritual that was behind it .. something that has been hidden during the proceedings .. His daughters were stabbed with an s character in the chest as too was ignored .. case deals with the smuggling of drugs from the base into the community .. hear Ted Gunderson interviews
@bathroommonkey76 DNA testing has previously been done in this case. That's one of things currently before the court - the consideration of those results. A couple of unknowns, the hair he claimed for years was clutched in his wife's hand and belonged to the murderer - turned out to be his. IMO, he needs matches to named intruders.
I watched another episode and thought Macdonald is innocent but after watching this with a more complete picture, I think he really did kill all of them. Motive was probably because the wife confronted him of infidelity and he got angry and lost it.
Funny. Drugged up hippies somehow breach a military base, enter a Green Beret's house without rousing him and manage to go UNARMED. They quickly found weapons, murdered 3 people without making a mess AND bested a Green Beret without alerting neighbors or even leaving DNA evidence. Recruit those hippies for our special forces NOW.
This is one of the best TV movies I have ever seen. I have watched it dozens of times and never tire of it. I don't know if he killed his family in a feverous rage, or if it was planned because he wanted to be the free wheeling, rich doctor.
I heard somewhere that he was addicted to amphetimines, because he was a doctor, he had access to prescription pills. And I think he snapped. He had personality changes and he was cheating and not happy about another baby with his Wife. He didn't want his family. He did it and I think the evidence points to him.
@jbianco1020 ... nor did the DNA evidence match the 2 hippies, and it was compared to their samples. Some of it did match MacDonald - including the hair that for years he claimed was "clutched" in Colette's hand and evidence of intruders. Helena Stoeckly's "story" doesn't jibe with his - claimed that upon arriving, they talked to him for 8 minutes and he was going to call to get drugs, but tried to call the MPs instead - his recitation of events has never included anything like that happening.
this killing was by a drug addict, the rage, the violence. I am curious to know if he was using drugs. he could have hid out counselling addicts. He must have had a girlfriend also that marriage prevented him from marrying. The story of 4 people doing this is so unlikely. You would think he could come up with something better.
The violent episode he had was so severe, it took a long time, he had to have been chronic drug addict very advanced
jefferey killed his family. what aree the circumstances that lead to murder? a husband with sociapathic personality and a woman who shrewdly trapped him into marriage and later, though she realized he was cheating, was determined to retain her status as the wife of a doctor by continously becoming pregnant and insuring her future and his entrapment.. she never saw his getting fed up and resorting to such a heinous way to be rid of her and the children she continuously bogged him down with....
No one ever actually used the phrase "groovy" it was as corny in 1970 as it is now. He picked the wrong drug. A group under the influence of "psychedelic" drugs couldn't orchestrate a trip to the restroom let alone a murder party. At least he didn't say a BHS (bushy haired stranger) did it. If it had happened now, he would have said a group of young Black men did it. This was MacDonald's perception of drugs and young people at the time.
Still confused here. Helena Stoeckley & Greg Mitchell, 2 of the alleged assailants told numerous people, including officials, friends and clergy that they just want to "shake up" MacDonald, whom they believed to have taken a hard line against drug use on post. They assaulted MacDonald, who fell unconscious in the hallway. They say they left in panic without further thought to whether their victims were still alive or not. Why would they make up a confession? To protect mcdonald?
@angelsmom008 I still suspect Stoekley (and perhaps Mitchell) were there at some point. There is the wig hair and wool fibers that didn't belong to MacDonald. I think their presence is possibly what started the argument between Mac and Colette. I wouldn't want druggies coming to my house to intimidate my family or actively seek drugs. I wouldn't be surprised if the fight started in front of Stoekley and Mitchell and they took off. There is too much more evidence pointing at MacDonald than them.
Don't believe lies. MacDonald was so violently inspired by a page blirb on the Manson Trials in Esquire magazine? A blond chick a candle? MacDonald's smart. He'd have come up with smarter yarns than he cowered behind his shirt and passed out.. Fort Bragg had CIA school of assassination and mind control research. Experiments on officers, medical staff and with special trained units like green berets. Many participated in "secret" operations on mind control while part of the experiment too.
there were 3 kids in Jeff's family growing up, the oldest has hadf numerous psychotic breaks and is an angry person, the sister has been treated for alcohol abuse and depression, this is indicative of childhood dysfuntion in the family
@kfag101 I'm sure he was deeply stressed knowing the investigation was going on and living in terror that they'd finally nail him for the murders. Also, psychopaths/sociopaths are bitter, angry people and that wears on you, like your own personality is spewing infectious poison through your body.
I think the infedelity and the fact that Jeff was going to be away more often, could have been what they were arguing about, I mean we'll never really know because one person is dead and the other won't COP to it. I mean he talks about how happy they were, when we know he had in the past been cheating on his wife. Oh, I'm sure she was just so happy about that? NOT You really have to shake your head on this story.
@celinejen My best guess is that they were arguing about Kimberly wetting the bed, which would explain why she was in the master bedroom in the first place and why she was injured there. Also, MacDonald claimed that it was Kristen that wet the bed and not Kimberly, despite lab analysis of the urine stain. The fact that MacDonald would lie about such a meaningless detail indicates, IMO, that Kimberly wetting the bed had something to do with the murders.
True, it's amazing that something so tiny as to a child wetting the bed could set someone off. Talk about a short fuse. This story for some odd reason has always peeked my attention. I don't know why. Maybe the sheer brutality just shocks me. I don't know. Every year Feb 17th without fail, I say a little prayer for Collete, Kimmy and Kristen, they deserve that much.
@celinejen Same here. I think one reason the case is so fascinating to so many is that even among those that are convinced of MacDonald's guilt (like me), there are so many unanswered questions: What provoked the fight? What were MacDoanld's exact movements inside the house? What kind of relationship did Mac and Colette really have? What's actually going on in Mac's head? etc., etc.
@jksonny It's funny, when talking about this case recently I was asked if Mac would give a death bed confession if he knew he was gonna die, After I thought about it my answer has to be no because I believe like any sociopath Mac believes his own BS and has on some level actually convinced himself to a point that he didn't do it, or that he felt he no choice which in his sick mind justifies it..
@wdbjr73 MacDonald, as a sociopath, feels other humans are disposable and believes that he is entitled to do with them whatever he chooses. And he LOVES trying to manipulate others into buying into his scam. In his warped mind, the ability to con others proves his superiority.
@wdbjr73 I understand how you can feel how you feel but at the same time it is not far fectched to know the Army , the military ,and the government will lie in a heart beat TO SAVE ITS OWN FACE! I'm i the Army and have been for going on 10 years! Trust me I know!
@celinejen Also, MacDonald had told Colette (and others) that he would soon be going to Russia with the Fort Bragg boxing team. But there was no trip to Russia; he made it up to give him an excuse to be away from Colette and the girls for an extended period of time (and also be away when Colette gave birth to their third child). That's how badly MacDonald wanted freedom.
@jksonny I forgot about that part. That's right he lied to her ( about Russia). I hear he's trying to appeal again, he says he's hopefull. I hope he's locked up forever. I can't believe some dumb BIOTCH actually married him. How stupid can anyone be to marry that monster, it's beyond me.
@celinejen He's never stopped appealing and he's never stopped feeding people his garbage about how hopeful he is, how he's sure he's about to be exonerated, how new evidence is about to be/has been disovered, etc., etc. And he'll never stop. It's part of his sociopathic need to manipulate others. And his new wife is a real piece of work herself. She was recently picked up for shoplifting (I assume she's claiming that it was actually a group of drug-crazed hippies).
@jksonny Yea, that sounds like him. He is a massive manipulator in addition to being a murderer. I never bought the Helena Stokley story ( there was a piece of work ) Not surprized to hear about the new wife ( figures)
kristen was jeff's favorite, perhaps we would have not killed her had she not seen the fight. Also, he may have killed her for total freedom, or his hatred for collette was so severe he wanted to destroy her offspring as well
@kfag101 It's hard to say what he was thinking with Kristen. I still tend to believe that he killed her mainly to support his "Manson Family-style slaughter" story but ironically, he may have been better off if he had let her live. Then, it may not have seemed so ridiculous that the hippies had only allowed him to survive. Also, even if he had still been charged and convicted, he wouldn't have gotten the Murder in the 1st rap and would probably be out on parole by now.
@kfag101 He could have claimed that the hippies came in through the open back door, found Colette and Kimberly in bed, and attacked and killed them without even making it to Kristen's bedroom or, most importantly, to the living room. It would have appeared that the "intruders" never realized/cared if anyone else was in the house.
The only issue here is when he says baby Kristen was killed because she was a witness. However this child was 2 1/2 years old? I am a mother and have been around many year old's, you can con them to say anything and chances are she was far from old enough to be a witness. If she had suffered a trauma such as watching her mother be beaten she would likely block it out. Questions would only confuse a baby this age.
@sukirue I agree with you there. I don't think he killed Kristen to keep her from talking. I believe he killed her to complete the illusion that the family was attacked by intruders and slaughtered.
@animalliberation0961 When he told his father in law that he and some Green Berets had tracked down and killed one of the hippie assailants and it was revealed that he lied about it, that turned Freddy Kassab against the man whom he had put faith and trust in. To me, that was the ultimate sham and betrayal.
@animalliberation0961 A women seen by a Army MP coming to the house that night came forward in the 80's as well as one of the men and said they did it. The women was a drug narc in the hippie and club culture with the police in the city. They said they did it because when one of them OD'ed and was brought in to the Hospital they thought he turned them in and they wanted to scare him but it got out of control. She went to court but wasn't given immunity so she wouldn't talk about it.
@Washie1 Helena Stoeckley, the drug narc you're speaking of, made many claims regarding this case. No evidence of her or anyone she named at the scene. One guy she named was in jail during the murders. What she says happened doesn't match what Macdonald says happened - "We talked to him for 8 minutes and let him make a phone call to get us drugs; he called the MPs instead" - nothing like that in his story.
She was an emotinally disturbed drug addict always looking for attention.
I have kept up this case and YES Jeff killed his family. @animalliberation0961 Couldn't he have concocted that scenario from the Esquire magazine article on the Tate-Liabanca murders?

Almost word for word.
