My mom became a fan as soon as he released: Release me but his stage persona and his t.v. persona are so different.

On stage he is the full package.

Not just singing but he's funnier than most comedians, does great impressions and had parts of his show choreographed.

Wow!! My mother passed away in 1972..........I was going on 5 at the time but I vividly remember her playing this record over & over again. She gave me milk & cookies while she played it and tried to teach me the lyrics. She was the vice-president of his US fan club too...........don't remember her much but things like this keep me close to her!!

Oh man, my parents use to play his stuff..I was just a small kid singing all these tunes..I remember singing over his songs on the 8 track on long road trips. Thank god when I was older I found Zeppelin!

I remember this song in the UK 's song for Europe contest with Clodagh Rodgers in the early seventies, the public picked Jack in the box. but even as a kid I liked this song better, she does a great version check it out if you can.

I agree with those who think this is perhaps Engelbert's best song. He just seems to come alive and has the greatest fun singing this -- as a result his voice is so full and open and resonant. As far as the shirt goes...reminds me of Jerry Seinfeld's "puffy shirt". And the hairdo reminds me of Shelley Fabares on the Donna Reed Show... 'Nuf said, we love the song no matter what ! !

On Saturday, June 13, 2009 I attended Engelbert's concert at The Orleans in Las Vegas. He is still a charismatic and dynamic artist. I'm so glad that I finally got to see him in person. He's still got it!

Thanks Loc139 for posting this! My mother was Vice President of Englebert's US fan club and absolutely adored him. I remember having posters up on the walls, scrapbooks & all kinds of things! Unfortunately in Sept. of 1972 she passed away while I was only 4.5 years old. I do have a few memories though & one is of her playing this song over & over again while I was eating milk & cookies! It's nice to remember.
