  • what if the victim is faced against an armed assailant with a gun and the victim only has a SINGLE-EDGED karambit? does anybody have a video? seriously. i wanna learn how to protect myself but not commit to many fancy moves that takes forever to learn.

  • @unphazed123 Most martial arts are taught to teach you how to defend against random thugs or punks with melee weapons like bottles, baseball bats, and knives. Against a gun, it's impossible to defend with any martial arts except by running or pulling your own gun. When most martial arts came into practice, guns hadn't been invented. The only martial art I can think of off the top of my head that helps against guns is Krav Maga, and that's only if the attacker is in close range.

  • the karambit knife to me seems like the most PAINFULL weapon.

  • Never bring a knife to a gun fight. Besides, knife fights are so 1993.

  • now i don't know kenpo, but i learned that if someone is using a stabbing motion step out of the way and use a crossblock to catch there wrist and then you can either bend there arm over there head or pull them towards you to the ground. either way will give you complete control and it is alot safer then what this vid showed use, no disrespect we are have our own way

  • @ThePatrick6122

N disrespect intended here but try this...spar a buddy with a knife and see how the x block works for you.

You wqill quickly learn that your forearm will get slashed badly.

  • to any viewer here

never but NEVER don't try to block a punch like that or a straight knife attack...

there are too much posibilites to get hit

    good vid though

but if you know martial arts you can make your own knife techniques

  • This is typical of Kempo guys. They display fancy techniques that only work if the attacker keeps his punching arm outstretched & his retracted hand glued to the "chamber". Ha-ha-ha.

  • Its KENPO not KEMPO. obviously don't understand Kenpo. We train techniques on Live Dummies"As many do on Mui Tai Bags, Boxing bags , Wing Cung Dummies, They don't fight back as well. We KNOW that. The ignorance is in your post. Not our training methods. You are welcome to come to my school and train with us. You can be the attacker and be as "alive" as you want to be. I will Adapt and respond accordingly, then we will see if us "Kenpo Guys" are so dumb Ha-HA- HA. You have an invitation Salute

  • @Kenpohands You obviously know little about said martial art yourself; if you did, you would know that the spelling is a moot point and both are acceptable, you schmuck. Yo uprobably studied at your average McDojo.

  • @Kenpohands People just don't seem to understand the difference between a drill and a technique.

  • very nice to see a silat blade art combined with kenpo techniques( i assume). i have been lucky enough to have had some training in forms of both and always felt they combined well in my opinion.

  • That's a nice knife. I may tape one onto my .45 in case I run out of amuuntion shooting one of these guys.

  • @alvinfry

Runing out of amunition is fate. There is no "in case i run out", you will run out.. also guns are for fags.

As the the saying; Do not bring knives to a gun fight, i say just dont go to the damn gun fight.... They will all kill/wound each other very fast without you. The less skills it need to use a weapon the more mutual annihilation they cause.

  • @alvinfry You're absolutely right. Real men carry guns, and rely solely on them. Good for you, you can use a gun. We are all REALLY impressed.

I bet with all my training I couldn't also use a gun, while still having what I've learned to fall back on.....oh wait.......

Jesus, even the FBI acknowlwedge the severe threat of a knife user in their training manuals, but I guess your some movie action hero to which such rules don't apply.

  • @alvinfry Also, keep in mind these techniques are typically trained for DEFENSE, why the hell would you eviscerate someone for any other reason? If the aggressor has a gun and the initiative(as all attackers do) your pretty much fucked either way, gun or no.

Or are you speaking from the role of the aggressor? Planning to go shoot up the office soon?

  • that's overkill

  • That's what Karambits excel at over traditional knives, tearing limbs/joints. Yes it can be a very good defending weapon, but the hawk blade on it is for tearing limbs.

  • cold steel's steel tiger karambit has a 5" blade, big enough to hook a collar bone or rib and drag the sucker to the ground.

  • @Southern661

My friend has one. The knife is great, but ugly as hell...

  • I have been unable to find a 3" fixed blade double bladed karambit for UNDER 375$. Can you help me at all? One with an exposed tang for hard knocks.

  • @Southern661 - ahhaah planning to cut yourself, emo?

  • @Southern661 If you're still interested in a good cheap Karambit, check out the Gil Hibben Claw II. I got mine for about 30 dollars. It's not SV30 or fancy invincible material, but it is 440 stainless. Which is good enough for EDC and defensive scenarios.

  • also got a realy nice pointy tip compared to normal knives ive found... even without the double edge :P

  • It is. Unfortunately when that guy high on drugs, swinging bat at your coconut, and your wife/ and kids are there in his sights also. It aint time to talk rationally and do tae bo

  • @power13

Karambit knives are forged out of pure overkill.

  • Good shit.
