Of course it does, its always printing on the screen the current direction and the point its crossing. For example (3,2) or (1, 4).... the starting point is obviously (0,0).
wow. that is pretty darn great. I understand why it retraced some of its paths. thats really cool. you should try it out on a slightly larger maze, maybe one that has a longer distance from the slave to the finish. that one was a large(ish) maze, but the slave still started a bit too close to the finish for my liking. great bot. great tech. great mech. 78/100. -RGB-
It went past the finish on purpose. It didnt want to use only the 1st way it found. It wanted to find all the solutions, then tell the other one which was the fastest.
It's doing a complete map... Imagine if those were connected hallways, and you had to use a pen and paper to map out each one so you could fax the map to a friend. You would look pretty retarded too, to an overhead observer.
How? I'd say that NXT goes straight in line with the ways of lego; allowing people to create. It's a good robotics kit that offers enormous opportunity; and it's relatively cheap, to boot. I, personally, like NXT, and the fact that it's made by Lego is icing on the cake.
the first one is using an algorithm to traverse the maze and store the paths it takes to compute the best path from start to finish. it then sends this optimum path to the second nxt unit, which now knows how to get from start to finish the quickest
the first start the way without any idea of the maze, when he find the solution, send the fastest way with the Bluetooth technology to the 2nd...thats why the 2ns seems to be more "intelligent". The 2nd is the stupid, bcos he cant do anything by himself!
good job, congrulations ! did u use an optimization algorithm or graph nodes techniques ? i'm curious about that :) because in the end of the labyrinth mapping it goes straight to the finish, am i incorrect ?
never mind :) but finding the shortest path is sometimes a huge problem(in some cases) even if all the states are known. Try an alternative labyrinth to test that ;)
r u sure? this nxt can avoid objects in the way with the ultrasounds sensor and... is using the bluetooth module to communicate with the 'slave robot'... only the light sensor?
Wait, let me get this straight, the first robot basically graphs out the labyrinth, sends it to robot #2, and robot #2 finds a way using some crazy maze algorithm thing? That had to be really hard to program.
The Mindstorms NXT kit is $249.99 at most stores, which provides the parts to make one of these robots, however you are not limited to this specific robot. There are limitless possibilites.
The ones that go first make mistakes and find the best route (even at the expense of their own lives), and the ones that come after follow the route discovered by the explorers.. (except instead of bluetooth they leave a chemical trail =] ).
Obyously, the first one is the master, who finds the exit after a lot of tries and the next one is the slave, who receives the easiest way and don't need to look because he knows where the exit is. The only restriction is that the point 0,0 (the first one) must be the same for them two. Sorry for my bad english.
Great thing!!! NExt step would be having both exploring the labyrinth starting from same point, and sharing info menwhile... I'd like to know how less is the time to solve it...

what do u mean by "shake" the robot goes straight with the instruction to move both engines syncronized.

how did u get the robot to not shake on the line my shakes

I hate NXT... an high tech Legos is stupid... it takes away the old ways of lego.. the fun ways

Awesome!!! I am lloking forward to byuin LLego Mindstorms! What's the difference between Nxt and the other?
dariusfol 3 years ago
Mindstorms is an older version of the NXT.
Clektose 3 years ago
yup! NXT owns Mindstorms !
mavamaarten 3 years ago
isn't the old one called the RCX or something?
diaryboy 3 years ago
mavamaarten: ... other way around. lego owns Mindstorms which owns NXT and RCX
utubeman0 3 years ago
uhh...
I'm pretty sure that Mindstorms is like the company name
Similarly like Bionicle and whatever their newest version is
the RCX is an older version of the NXT
both are made by Mindstorms, although the RCX is now discontinued

Was there a difference between the first and the second robot? Or was the first just a bit stupid?

cool that means that the first one scans the whole labyrimth and search than the shortest way. very intersting and amazing.
EXITUS01 3 years ago
Yes, I see that whole effort made by master is necessary so the problem of loops could be desolved.
Congratulaton boys - You made good job :)

better? is an heuristic algorythm! the time it takes to solve it depends on the initial position! ;-)

You should really try making a giant labyrinth, so that it is easier to see their behaviour, and if the route really is the fastest found.
It is a really good idea. Well done =)
kebakent 4 years ago
A bit like robotic ants, if you think about it..
The ones that go first make mistakes and find the best route (even at the expense of their own lives), and the ones that come after follow the route discovered by the explorers.. (except instead of bluetooth they leave a chemical trail =] ).
