  • perfect !!!

  • Goosebumps; this song gets straight to the heart; it's become part of me since day one. I'm so grateful to Paddy, Martin, Wendy and Neil for what they've done over the years; it meant much to me. Paddy is one of the most under-rated songwriters ever but that's a common feature among real geniuses!! Thanks for posting this video.

  • Crying...

  • Better than Lennon

  • this man is the greatest songwriter of our generation... FACT!

  • Fantastic song by a genius songwriter........will they ever tour again?

  • What the hell is going on with the drummer from 1:51-1:55?

Great song, great band. Pity the fool who ignores this band.

  • @lacerda70 Looks like it was just the cameraman getting in position for a tight shot behind Neil Conti

  • I was in a loving relationship in 85 and with as i thought the love of of my life. We split up and she found someone else , i found my new love who was just 7 when this was out and we now have 4 kids together how lfe changes but this still means alot to me

  • Great song - does anybody know how to play this on the guitar? After watching this I can clearly see that the tabs available on the web are wrong but I can't quite make out the chords he's playing - unless I'm missing something, a different tuning perhaps ?- please help! I Wan't to play this badly!

  • @TheBushcraftBoyz

Standard tuning half step down (Eb)

    Verse: A maj7 - Abmin7 - F#min7

    Rit: B - A maj7

  • I'd forgotton all about this song, hearing this again is like wakeing up from a 26 year coma.

  • Sorry they had to get you out of bed for this, Paddy.. (heh, heh..)

  • agodamongmen

  • Brilliant stuff.

  • how good is this song, wish i could go back to 85 to see this live

  • OMG, one of the finest pieces of music ever made. 'McQueen is perhaps the best pop album of all times. But I also adore Thomas Dolby as producer, I think the Sprouts wouldn't have sounded that unbelievable and totally unique without him. Btw imho they weren't only paddy's show, the 'solo'-sprouts were beautiful, but this is outa space genious, magic chemistry. ps. 2 people can't control their fingers or mistake right for left;) (Please excuse my bad English)

  • Pretty much epic.

Thats the scruffiest attire Ive ever seen Paddy. BTW

  • one of the few good things to come out of the eighties.

  • @megaEDWIN3 You said it!!!

  • words don't hold you...

    broken soldiers

  • !!!! Ohh..I miss the good old 80`s..!!!

  • great

  • Wish I was old enough to have seen them play Steve McQueen live, its my number 1 album of all time. Just bought the acoustic version which is simply sublime.

  • i think this band, this song and this album (steve mcqueen) is some of the most literate, intricate and excellent music ever. this is way good!!!

  • He's just fuckin genius - sings with so much passion

  • Really good !!!

  • Genius. Total genius. Paddy is ledge x

  • all I stole and I tuck from you etc

  • This is indeed special - breathaking. I'll save my speeches....sigh....

  • absurd amount of talent

  • God! I began to listen to them because of my father (he lived in the 80's) i'm 17 and I really think that this music is a clasic, this music is the best from all the times! and I really want to thank to my dad for introduce me Prefab Sprout. Simply, the best of the best!

  • @thekillerssvictim

You're absolute right, unbelievable good music.

But I'm so sorry for your dad, he had died so young;)

I'm born 1970 and am still searching for such magic moments in nowadays music. You will find these brilliancy in every, also in your generation, please start searching and show it too your father!! (sorry for my bad English)

Thank u for answering me this, the best era of good music is the 80's!!!

  • Me recuerda unos tiempos mejores..........

  • gosHH fucking good

  • goshh

  • I think Neil Conte played with Bowie at live aid, having said that, isn't Paddy something special.

  • I want more!!

  • I remember when our band The Drumbones (you can hear them on Youtube) heard them around 86, they sort of reminded us of us!

  • I was at Edinburgh, Queens Hall in 1985 - The official line was Wendy had a cold but seemingly the truth is that the Sprouts had a massive falling out before the gig hence no Wendy. You heard it here first!

  • "All my insights from retrospect"

Great song, possibly their best, great songwriter, great memories.

  • Nobody has ever been able to say how it feels to have loved and lost like Paddy. The words, the melancholy, the longing. The man is a genius.

  • I couldn't have said it better myself. Utter heartbreaking genius.

  • @bobman64 you lose your true love then he articulates your emotions.. bastard! a true genious

  • @bobman64 So you have never read any poetry?

  • i have worn out the cassette playing this in my car. top tune.

  • I'm Bonnie!!

  • their first drummer (the one u see here) was a monster! awesome playin...i think he left the group for bein a session drummer...i really love his style!!

  • He is still in the band, his name is Neil Conti

  • but didnt he leave the band at some point? good to hear he is still with them

  • yeah, he's Neil Conte, indeed a terrific drummer. Also on Jordan The Comeback he's awesome.

  • The Sprouts played Queens Hall, Edinburgh 13 March 1985 minus Wendy who had the flu........someone I know recorded the whole gig in glorious Walkman Pro stereo!

  • my skip a beat, this song, bonnie, still the same after all these years)

  • Thank You You Tube!

  • how good is paddy????? a fuckin legend

  • sorry wendy smith

  • her name is claire smith

  • Do anybody know the name of the woman in the band? Bye

  • Wendy Smith

  • Yo tengo 30 años y he conocido estas canciones hace poco.

  • With respect, couldn't disagree with you more, sir! It's brilliant live... this is why YouTube is such a great site!

  • u are wrong there buddy

  • it's only opinion, but i saw sprout last on the jordan:the comeback tour and they were seriously boring. Paddy has always hated touring and it comes across in spades.

  • you are so wrong...this is Prefab Sprout at their very best...sit back and enjoy...Thomas Dolby was in the front row dancing his arse off...he fell in love with this band before he ever produced them....Paddy at this time was untouchable for about 12 months..

Grandes!

  • pure soul & feeling....thnx for beatifull music Prefab Sprout

  • Love this song, god, i was in love with Wendy Smith :)

  • I saw them also LIVE in those days

Great, VERY Great band with the best song ever Made!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great to see this again, good feelings good memories

    Thanks

    Frank

  • bravo bravo bravo

  • Just a wonderful performance of a wonderful song. I have loved 'Two Wheels Good' ('Steve McQueen) for years and years. So glad to have seen this.

  • I just love the srabouts all the scabousers know what I'm sayin kidder!

  • Timeless...25 Years have passed but it sounds fresh as if has just come out. These guys were well ahead of their time.

  • Played this last night and it blew a few heads...

  • paddy is a lyrical genius! prefab sprout rocks!

  • prefab sprout...best kept secret until now..this song is my all time favorite.....godbless paddy

  • they deserve to be bigger than ever

  • One of the few god things from the mid 80´s.

  • "all my silence and my strange repect, missed chances and the same regrets"... sums up my teenage years!Beautiful song and my fav album from Prefab Spout.

  • Lo simple es lo mas lindo.....

    Stanis

  • Sounds great instrumentally, but the weird "I count the minutes since you slipped a-WAY!" thing detracts a bit from the song's delicate beauty.

  • i love that part

  • Still my favorite Sprouts song. So beautiful, and yes, I still have a crush on Wendy Smith :-)

  • Great news for the new album of the Sprout comming for febuary 2009. 8 years waiting for this pleasur!! Wonderfull!!

  • Are you kidding??

In this a solo album from Paddy just like "i trawl the megahertz" or is this an album from Prefab?

  • It's not a dream, new album comming soon, with paddy and martin mc aloon.

  • Steve McQueen - my favourite LP of all time....defined me!

  • I thought I was the only one. The album never gets old. Cheers.

  • Steve McQueen is my favourite album of all time. This is awesome. Come back Paddy, the world needs real music!

  • Absolute wereldklasse deze groep! Fantastisch...

  • A brilliant band. Paddy is a true musical genius. The quality of the music and intelligence of the lyrics are remarkable. The legacy of Prefab Sprout will live forever.

  • Absolutely great stuff,i never knew this existed until i got online, what a fantastic concert by a brilliant and unique band.

  • i never saw them LIVE...but it appears from this clip that their great studio sound is tough to replicate ONSTAGE.

  • An awesome song from a simply awesome album. Check out the reissued Steve McQueen double CD, which includes a gorgeous acoustic versions of this song. McAloon really is a God.

  • According to me one of the best Prefab songs.

Don't forget the excellent drumer Niel Conti .

  • Don't forget these lyrics... awesome !

  • Que épocas! impresionante!

  • Gorgeous- beautiful- incredible- uplifting...

I gave my friend from Peru the album- he loved it!

Now I'm rediscovering how good Prefab Sprout were- Paddy is genius!

  • Great songggg!!

He's super-melodyman and all the band keep

    goin'onnnnnnnnnnnnnn oh i love it!!!!!!!!!!

  • paddy is rockin here,,,,check out the body language....this is a man on a mission..

  • One of the finest songwriters of his generation. I'm still playing Steve McQueen after, what, over 20 years, and I love it more than ever...

  • Mi canción favorita!!! la número 1 !!

  • He pensado en algún momento similar a tí...

  • The most under-rated band of these 30 lasts years.

  • a haunting song save your speeches flowers are for funerals brilliant lyrics

  • Sorry i didn't understand you i'm french. What do you mean?

  • quiet a lovely song , off a really good album, well most of it anyhow.some heartfelt songs on it, he apparently wrote it about his wife whom he cheated on and she told him to piss off, so hes missing her and feeling guilty. a nice tribute to his guilt.

  • GOOD!!!!

  • I was in a band called "The Drumbones" here in Cincinnati in 1985 and we listened to these guys and said "they sort of sound like us"!

  • Great song.
