@lilwaffleboy No it was pretty easy. You could get it to the glovebox in a minute and for the steering wheel I believe I just removed the paneling under it to give me access to run the wire. But that's for my car, other cars may be more difficult
thanks for a nice long review. kind of stinks that you cant go "back" using an ipod but I can live with that. also will "like" this video because of the quality review and for a fellow metal head
ok i am swaping out a kdg210 with a kd-s28 hes my question i wired most of it up now on the kds28 purpel with black line and another puple i am using the old harness off the kdg210 to connect the kds28 up the wire i have left on the kdg210 is a grey wire with black line and a blue one wich purple one goes where also i concected it up and the left side is working so thats all good there.
gave "like" for lamb of god :D lol plus i bought one, but they retail for 299 and im getting mine on-sale for 199 from sonic, i feel kinda bad i paid more :( but meh, 5v is gonna be sweet specially since my amp needs it (2v blows)
lol i too have toytota highlander but my unit is double din (almost same model by JVC) can i used hard drive with this unit? i'm currently using 4 gig flash drive with usb extension cord but i can't decided whether i should get 80gb hdd or 16gb usb stick.
@ExtraTerrestrials I having been using an 80 gb external harddrive for awhile now with no problems. The load time is probably around 20 seconds but I think it's worth it for the extra space.
I've had the R901 (best radio I've ever had) for a year and then my car was stolen so now I'm looking for the same one but it's very difficult to find it. Is the R900 the successor of the R901, would you know that? And are there big differences between those two?
Btw. you've got Dimmu Borgir, Opeth and Edo Maajka on one folder/device...? Nice..:-)
@rickslate RCA input? no, but it does have RCA outputs for front, rear, and sub. On the front of the unit it has a 1/8" stereo jack, if you have to you can use a cable that is RCA female to stereo jack male.
@DelMonteMan243 meh, not really. There are trade-offs, The other one you have to buy the expensive bluetooth accessory but you do get a much nicer screen. The JVC has 5V preouts over the Kenwoods 4V, probably not that big of a difference though.
I was looking at the kenwood manual and it showed the ipod connecting with usb and a 1/8" stereo jack for sound. Which seems weird because they might be using the ipod's DAC which would be lame. I was probably missing something
you don't mention anything about bluetooth ... where is your mic? how's the pairing? voice quality for the listening party? does it sync your phone phonebook and shows caller's name ?
@hpates The thing you're talking about is specific to your car. Go to the realmofexcursion website and we can help you there. It's a cool car audio forum. People there will know where to find the kit for your car.
Nice review. Can you do maybe another review at night and go through the various dimmer and LCD display modes? Does it have contrast adjust on the display? Also, have you had a chance to do any Bluetooth audio streaming? I'm interested to know how good/bad that sounds :) Thanks!
was it hard to get the microphone wire to the steering wheel and the usb to the glove box?

@suljaard @suljaard It looks like the 901 is just the UK version of this. other than that they look exactly the same.
And I do have and odd collection of music. I do got a lot of metal though, rock on!

@mporettim can you leave the thumb drive in all the time even when you turn off and on the car?

@lyheat1 yep, I do it all the time. My external hard drive rarely leaves the glovebox

Kenwood KIV-700 is way better. This one is good for the price though.

Does the radio support RDS?
gmax0 1 year ago
@gmax0 Is that where the artist and song title are displayed for the radio? because it doesn't do that

I was just wondering, What comes with the CD Reciever? How did you get the 2 CD Deck frame so you have room underneath your new CD Reciever?
