The man who set the record on the Nordschleife was Stefan Beloff. And he did it with a Porsche 956c on 05/28/1983. At that point the 917 was already in the museum for 10 years ;) But you are right that he died 2 years later, also driving a 956. Both the 917 and 956 are way too dangerous for todays racing, but anyway, great cars.

The front looks too much like a Ferrari 360.

The engine sounds a bit timid (maybe it was masked by the shitty music chosen by the marketing knobs)

No doubt it will handle brilliantly and have incredible track capability, but I'm still left a little underwhelmed.
