  • Wow... I'm from Quebec and I just found out about this song. Being bilingual sometimes I tend to forget words in French, so I replace them with the English word without thinking. I'm proud to speak French and I don't want to lose it. This song made me realize that I should pay more attention to my French and that I should try to speak it better. Yes, speaking English has it's advantages like any other language, but here English is taking over. The old war isn't over yet...

  • i herd this song in french at my school

  • well - America is being taken over speaking wise by the hispanics. I feel really bad for the Indians - Jesus, hurry....

  • Each time i hear this song, as a french speaking Quebecer, i am left with great sadness, i feel as if this song is telling me what could happen to my culture if i don,t take care of it.

  • tres belle chanson.

  • Even if you are an Anglophone Canadian it is hard not to be moved by this haunting and powerful song. It is a warning that the French language could disappear here as it did in Louisiana.

  • @Hudson2816 is that necessarily a bad thing trololololololololo

  • Even if you are an Anglophone Canadian it is hard not to be moved by this haunting and powerful song.

  • Notre destin est dans nos mains. Non ce n'est pas trop tard!!!

  • It's sort of eerie but it's a nice song. Does anyone know the meaning behind the song?

    Thanks

  • @DiLeVi55 It's about the french speaking being overcome by English speaking in Canada...it's sad

  • @DiLeVi55

It tells the story of an assimilated french family. The original singer, Pauline Julien, was an engaged artist in the separatist movement in Quebec. The song is a warning to french-canadian that their culture and language must be protected.

  • My name is sam gilbert and along with my two brothers and sisters in 1971 recorded this song as the Title track for the movie 'Tiens toi biens apres oreilles a Papa...' (I apologize for my English computer) with Marc and Dominique at Monster Studios if my memory serves me correctly but Marc forgot the contract...? and we got no billing on the record or in the film live's really crazy for years at a time papidado
  • @papidado

Really ? How did the recording happen ? Did you see the movie ? Were there other people involved ?

You are like a witness to a past almost forgotten :-)

  • J'adore cette chanson. C'est si calme. Merci à Gilles Richer d'avoir écrit une telle merveille
