Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which is electronic music inspired by great games such as the Final Fantasy series. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
@riceball23 this is the real final fantasy 2. final fantasy 2 was also released for the GBA in USA with FF1 as well in the same cartridge with updated graphics. if im wrong please correct me.
Wow, I first played this game on the GBA and could not imagine how the original versions of the tracks sounded at all since they were so complex there... these are very good for NES.
This is the first and only FF game I've played, and I really liked it! A huge playing time, a great story, nice character, big world. Well, I'm happy with it, oh, forgot, great music too XD

I always loved FF games. I love the 8 bit music in this game. I am currently playing it on my PSP on a NES emulaor. Loving it too. i have played all ff's except for number 13 :)
@LEATHERrebelJUSTICE that is so true... i did my homework yesterday listening to these themes and, unlike the usual, i got everything right... wierd...
I love old videogames midi, they remind me of the classic videogames. Before all the fancy graphic, voiceactors, instrumentals music and so much more. Just the midi music, and storyline was enough to put a smile on my face.
That babttle you just saw is impossible, you start off with no magic and other things and those black knights slaughter you so that there is an excuse to wake up at the rebles base where Leon has gon missing but is in fact working for the empire now... WTF
I wish they would have released this one here. Such a great game. I don't know why square stopped the translation. Would have been awesome to get this and FFIV for the SNES at the same time.
Yeah but most of the people would have bought IV instead of II because it's more advanced and Square would have lost money... You can still consider yourself lucky, here in Europe we had to wait the seventh episode to see the FF franchise in our contries all of that just because in Japan they were sure we didn't like RPG...
possibly but you have to remember I and many others didn't get a snes when it first came out. I wanted one but it was too expensive I didn't get mine until late 92. And I loved my nes and would have still gotten it anyways even if I had had a supernes because of the first one. I think it would have still made lots of money but you're right IV would have probably outsold it. (being such an epic game).
I found this to be a tough game on the gba, but when I sat at the beginning leveling up, I hadn't realized I over-leveled myself. I made it through the end of the game without leveling up much more. haha
Oh wow, it sounds so old it reminds me of Final Fantasy Adventure. (Not like that's a bad thing of course. ^^ In fact, I love that game and it's music. :D) It sounds kind of weird listening to music like this again though compared to how everything else sounds. Heh heh, the good old days are great aren't they? ^^
Agreed. The end was fucking ridiculous. An NPC told me that Ultima was the best spell against the final boss, so I spent forever leveling it to level 16 and it did NO MORE DAMAGE than it did before. Due to a limited inventory space, I threw out my blood swords and had no idea they're pretty much needed to beat the game. The story was innovative, but the gameplay, damn. It's no wonder I don't play the Saga series and didn't like 12 that much.
There are several rumours on how you max out Ultima - some say you simply need high Spirit, some say it's completely random, and others say you need to max out the character in *all* stats and magics.
no 3 is the black sheep. You get to fight the devil in this one. Who doesn't like to do that? Just equip 2 weapons on the whole party. You'll kill everybody before they can do anything. Beat the main boss in 3 turns. The nes version is bad. Most of the jobs are useless and the main boss has one stupid attack. the first 2 and the snes trilogy are the pinnacle of the series. The remake of 3 is good though.
I meant the way you upgrade your characters stats. On all of the others you battle to gain points which go toward stats. On this what action you take inbattle determines what is upgraded.
Thanks for posting this! This will date me a bit but I played FF1 with my friend on the NES and then FF2 was the first FF game I purchased for the SNES. There is a sound track from one of the final levels that I've been looking for that a has bunch of rolling drum beats and was real up tempo.
I probably will one day, but it's not at the top of my list. You do know that I did a 35-part multi-hour series on the FF series, right? I've been a fan since the first one on NES.
So good to meet a true FF veteran, who's been there since the very beginnig.Usally the so-called FF fans I meet have only been on board since FF10.I've been a fan since FF6(3 in the U.S. when I was a kid). Oops! I'm making you feel old again.
It's cool, I like being an older gamer. I've followed most major franchises since the beginning, and I've refined my tastes over the years. I'll always play the main FF games though, that's for sure.
even the shitty ones? I mean, I lost faith in them when Numora began getting waaay to happy with the steampunk clothes and the zippers. not to mention all the hair spikes...
Well, even though the newer ones aren't likely to top my favorite list, the one thing about FF games is that I can always find something in there to enjoy.
I mean, I hated the actual gameplay to FFXII, but other aspects made it worthwhile enough to play for me. Like I said, I'll keep playing the main games, but on the flipside, they won't govern my life like the old ones did.
@0mnislasher89 Been playing FF since FF4, Personally when they went 3D they began to Suck (in terms of Gameplay feel and Story) the music sucks after 10
@0mnislasher89 I understand what you mean. I remember playing the very first FF me and my brother had like 4 cartridges of it so we could each have a save as it only had one save slot LOL
This is the REAL Final Fantasy 2! All those years Square deceived the western gameplayers and never told us about this game or the third.
When I found out about this game I nearly creamed my pants!

In my opnion, this Game is Very Good and Very Underrated. much better that FF1!!!
A shame: this game is are so underrated! and FF1 is overrated compared in this Game.
FF1 is original some in things, however is tipical history for RPG. and...
FF2 Have:
Original History for Nes.
One the Best RPG songs for Nes.
I Liked system upload arms and magics. is Original and Very Good.
is need skill for:
Leave your chars and your magics in a big level.
and for be able make 100% in Game.

ofcourse not. Your looking at the "cinematic" battle at the beginning of the game--although you have control.
You can max everyone out at 9999hp 999mp, i think?
squarepox 3 years ago
No, this game is really bitchy in that it lets you level up to hexadecimals, so the theoretical max HP/MP is actually FFFF and FFF.
Takes FOREVER. XD
