  • i loved this movie..lol, i remember seeing this as a kid, but not really realizing the product placement until now, XD

  • I love product placement, especially in futuristic movies. It constantly reminds me that I'm watching a possible eventuality of my own world. It's nifty.

  • Also, the companies need to spend their money on something anyway. Granted, it would be better if they spent their money on actually helping people, but in the long it employs people which is always a good thing.

  • A few weren't product placement. Like the Chevy. But you missed the tag homer

  • Lol, thanks for that. Unfortunately I had no such realisation nor care for the product placement. But I do love this movie! It's a fascinating story, and the actors put it down well. And yes, this should be properly serialised in a 1970's crude fashion. And yes... everyday I see those companies and logo's. I don't own any, but they're stil just normal to see, so they don't feel like "placement" to me. The only unusual thing is... why MSN search, not Google. I suppose that's placement.

  • There's nothing wrong with product placement. Films cost money. The real problem is Micheal Bay.

  • There's also RC and Bacardi in the bar scene at 1:06

  • This is realistic because many of these companies will exist in the future. I think it was cool the way he showed how different companies could evolve in a futuristic world.

  • I wouldn't say the scene with Apple should be any kind of good PR

  • MSN Search (Still sucks in the future) XD LOL

  • Kinect?

  • THERE WERE 17 TOYOTAS IN THE MOVIE!! PRODUCT PLACEMENT!!1!1111!

This is a bit over the top...most of them are just regular everyday products being shown. The NFL? Amtrack?

  • Here's why I hate product placement: nobody needs that much fucking money to tell a story. They piss all that money away on flashy editing and unnecessary effect sequences because they have this idea that people who've paid $8 won't sit still unless something shiny explodes every 5 seconds. The result: 90 minutes of "ooh, shiny" with ZERO story.

  • @Phenlandia 1 Product Placement is Subtle but too many MIGHT Make Seltzer & Friegburg Blush.

  • They've not been very subtle with this, have they?

  • The michelob is obviously product placement

  • Comment removed

  • MSN search having no results?

    Not surprised

  • I mean this youtube video for my comment below

  • I saw this in school i think, mabye Buisness Studies

  • Are you supposed to use things that dont exist in movies now, so people dont complain?

  • Adidas was the weird one that pop out

  • You forgot TAG Heuer Monza, in the scene where he dresses up as himself

  • i think the product placement makes the world believable... but i've got to admit its OTT

  • wait what!! what was so important about the shoes all i saw was Ewan shirtless!!

  • Although Michael Bay integrated product placement to finance part of the movie, it does make sense, storywise. The future, even moreso than now, will belong to the big corporations and they're gonna brand everything. We can't escape the corporate logos, not now, not in the future.

  • msn...still sucks in the future^^

  • It costs money to make a movie, even a shitty one like the ones Michael Bay makes. You'd assume that they'd be a bit more subtle about it.

  • Nice video, funny to watch. I can tell something when I watch this movie next time with friends or family.

  • The problem with product placement as many of you evidently dont realise is that it acts on a subliminal level. Whether or not "it bothers you" it psychologically effects your purchasing habits. Thats why its shitty.

  • TO THE DICKHEAD WHO MADE THIS VIDEO. PRODUCT PLACEMENT IN THIS MOVIE RAISED $850,000 TOWARDS PRODUCTION (WIKIPEDIA)

WHAT WOULD YOU PREFER THAT THE STUDIO RETRIEVE THEIR COSTS BY RAISING THE ALREADY EXPENSIVE CINEMA PRICES? GROW UP!!!

AND YEH, I AM SHOUTING AT YOU IN BLOCK CAPITAL

  • I honestly don't mind product placement and infact makes the movie feel more real to me cause it's not just a bunch of whacky fake companies and shit. I applaud Micheal Bay to have the balls to sell out his movies to businesses ahahahaha

  • Really? Bitching about cars? WTF ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO DO? Create a create a car from scratch?!

    Seriously, go fuck yourself.

  • Cars, trains and boats don't count. What's the alternative. Build them from scratch?

  • I never really got why people always bitched about product placement. If its good - it blends with the movie, and helps draw the audience in with familiar items, nbd. Good for audience, good for advertising, good for movie-makers.

If its blatant and takes away from the movie (very few) ie. Some phone/car/drink ect. continously pops up for more than a second at a time, i realize its distracting but its not like you can do anything about it...

  • @ben3600 Oh, and that xbox one was teerrrrible.

  • Very true!! Sadly, I saw Transformers 3 and there was so much product placement I was going out of my mind! This guy is a slave to the corporations, I don't know if I should have expected that but he just is.

  • WHO GIVES A SHIT!?

  • Cool boat and the cadillac is nice ;) but I love the soundtrack best of all

  • Why do people bitch about "product placement" Do you expect every item, restaurant, article of clothing... everything to be fictional? And if so, how do you expect to "be pulled into" the story, if absolutely nothing about it is real.

  • I didn't know 'The Wally 118' existed. It looks quite cool.

  • in conclusion

so... thats michael bay's vision of an oppressive dystopic future?

  • who looks for product placement lol, just watch the movie.

  • Some of those were normal but then some obvious, like Xbox. At least its not as bad as Transformers, where she pulls out the SD card and waves it noticably in front of the camera. So bad

  • i dont mind products being shown but when a scene starts and the product takes up over 50% of the screen and has no relivence. thats when it gets stupid.

  • did she take the gun out her vagina?

  • Pretty sure this missed some. I remember Cisco being in it somewhere.

  • Lol I know its annoying the amount of product placement in almost any movie

  • don't watch this shit - just a glorified commercial. Story is second to selling you shit you think you need

  • The whole damn film was shot like a cheesy commercial set in the "near future" so i'm not that surprised tbh. It was like those "imagine tomorrow, today" style ads which were so popular some years back.

  • LOL They have product placement for Adidas and Puma?!

The founders of both companies are brothers and now the companies are rivals wth would they do that?

  • Michael Bay is a whore for product placement

  • Michael Bay is a whore

  • What's with you people defending corporate whorism? Thanks, but they're making millions without your help. Product placement is not world-creating; when a shot lingers on because it wants to get a logo in, it's not establishing a setting, and it's not connecting to the real world. Think of it this way: a shot is supposed to simulate they way you focus on something, usually to the benefit of the story. If you were being chased by bad guys and had to do an online search, would you focus on a logo?

  • if only michael bay died 2morrow

  • How did you notice these? It's all so subtle!

  • @TheDannyoffthewall that means there doing A DAMN GOOD JOB OF IT

  • argh i cringed at the cadillac thing, he just rattled through the fucking specs, i mean come on

  • DO people think brands in a movie makes it more real? please, the brand staring directly at the camera, perfectly positioned, that is the most unreal thing!! i'm not for taking away product placement, but seriously, it is supposed to be entertainment, not advertising for some other sh...

  • who gives a shit its a great film

  • You people are idiots, product placement isn't selling out, it's a medium the filmmaker uses to let you know the film is taking place in OUR world, not some alternate reality. Sure, he could've used made up names for products, but he didn't in order to evoke a sense of familiarity which would make it a bit more personal for the viewers. So shut the fuck up with your "selling out" bullshit and try to understand what's being conveyed, rather than trying to sound like a film aficionado.

  • @Guildeburn Yeah, whatever...but brands still pay for that...

  • @Guildeburn this movie had at the time the most product placement for a movie, like 35. MASSIVE OVERKILL then revenge of the fallen took at that record for 54 BAM! sure wat ur saying is somewat true but dont get too condition into thinking that way

  • It's not that it's bad, per say but for me it takes me out of the film. This movie is set in the future, and to see logos from today kinda takes me out of it. Don't get me wrong, I like this film, but it would of been more believable for me if there wern't any recognizable logos.

  • why does it matter that they use product placement, did you know that ALL movies INCLUDING Star Wars had product placing.....its part of movies, i don't see people complaining when they see Doritos at the Superbowl or a commercial for Pepsi max or some s#!t like that

  • @maller123321

No, look at the original terminator and point out product placement. Not so easy is it....

  • Man, I can't believe Michael Bay did that! I'm going to text my friends right now using my Samsung phone and then tell all of my friends on Facebook about not see this movie using my Macbook Pro laptop. Man, I'm so mad, I'm thirsty, so I'm going to at least get a sip of my Sprite first.

  • Did you know that there were Reese's Pieces in ET? OMFG SPIELBERG IS SUCH A HORRIBLE DIRECTOR!

  • This is simple proof people just want to complain about shit. There's a lot happening in this movie to the point that you aren't going to give a fuck about Budweiser showing up in some 3 second shot. I didn't care (much less even notice) he was wearing adidas. Who cares? You fuckdicks do. What's wrong with making the movie seem a little more real? MSN, Apple, Xbox, these are real things and when they appear in a fictional story the story is a little more real.

  • @arthereld It's a shit film to begin with? Hello?! Michael Bay?!

    Why are you even commenting?

  • @nicck Whether or not the movie sucks has nothing to do with the product cameos. People who are offended by Steve Buscemi saying "Grab us a bud" need drink a couple gallons of Prestone Antifreeze. (Uh oh did I just product placement in my comment?)

  • Msn...still sucks i the future.. LMAO!!! But nice vid. That defintly was alot of placement in a single movie.

  • This goes for every movie. Did you notice the similarity between the GM product placement in this movie and that of Transformers? Micheal Bay and GM obviously have a deal

  • Much of the product placement in this film is justifed and very subtle. Transformers on the other hand is much more flagrant in its use.

  • the design in nokia phone does not look futuristic.

  • "...Still sucks in future..."

  • Lol some of them are like, whatever, it adds a little more realism and are kind of funny, but then the rest is like...what the heck, you could have said "this is a nice car" not go on and on about a particular Cadillac model...

  • Absolutely shameless.

  • you missed ben and jerrys i think

  • I agree I don't think the yacht counts because who the fuck goes to see The Island and can ID a yacht by shape.

  • Wow!! What a beautiful car!!

  • I don't necessarily think the yacht counts, it doesn't broadcast it's logo or even mentioned in dialogue, they just happened to be on one.

  • good one for apple: "the computer is down again"

  • Yeah, Michael Bay over-does the product placement...its definitely obvious...but in all seriousness everything in life has a label...

  • You missed out BMW 6

  • Yea I hate being bombarded with Amtrak product placements. I ALREADY HAVE 3 AMTRAKS! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!

  • Kinect erlier preview at 0:46 xDDD

  • @Seryeth Yeah¡¡¡

  • This was amusing.

But I don't think the movie Director is the sole person that requests product placement, it is the Studio releasing the movie, and it is up to the Director to incorporate products into various scenes.

  • i hate product placement i was siting in my IKEA sofa drinking a good COCA COLA and with a amazing CHEEZ DOODLES watching this movies and was disgusted to much advertising not worth playing it on my PLAYSTATION 3

  • That much product placement in a sci-fi movie is ludicrous. The movie's setting is supposed to be different to our own reality. Sticking in all these real world products punctures that.

  • It's almost as if you can relate yourself to the characters and storyline of the movie. Seeing our everyday brands placed in the movies, to me gives an emotional attachment... For the most part. The more you're looking for it, the more it will annoy you.

  • I'm sorry but thats a sick ass yacht

  • Regardless, this movie still kicked ass

    Loved it

  • This movie was the longest commercial I've ever seen.

  • this was such garbage. bay has no shame. thx for this video

  • Microsoft, Nokia, Panasonic, Burger king, Coke, Pepsi, Sony, Nintendo.

All and more, does exists in REAL LIFE.

Why on earth are people complaining about it when they see it in a movie?

    I don't get it!

"hey look, i know that product, must hate this movie now"

BTW: on topic, Xbox is the only one i noticed, other where so "naturally placed"

it did not bother me at all.

  • @AgentH53

they're all shown in totally pathetic closeups

  • @AgentH53

I agree with you. I've read about the product placement before watching the movie.. but i only noticed Puma and Ben&Jerrys while watching it ( and having that in mind ).. btw the poster forgot all the other stuff, that was intentionally placed...

  • @AgentH53 Product placement is pretty much a sign of someone "selling out," which basically means that someone loses their dignity and integrity just to make money.

  • @AgentH53 u dont understand, with the introduction of tivo every bodies skipping the ads, so now they have to get into every spectrum as hard as possible to get to us, they change scripts to tv shows and movies to get the product out, on the tv it kinda ok cause they gotta buy the show with something, but if i pay $15 for a movie ticket i dont want to see on the big screen integrated under-my-nose advertising and unfortunately michael bay is NOT helping,

  • @AgentH53 You know, today I saw bitching about recycling "The Island" clips in "Transformers 3." I did about 30 seconds of research and it turns out that EVERYBODY ON THE INTERNET hates Michael Bay. Yours is the first intelligent comment that I have seen. Sure, I personally am usually a fan of more intellectual films than his, but he does a very good job putting out exciting, mainstream movies. And like you say about the product placement; it's all done in a totally unobtrusive fashion.

  • @DomValela There was a reason why some parts of "The Island" were recycled. And that was because some of the movie extra was paralyzed.

  • @onee Yeah, I have no problem with it. It fits in very well, but this story is intriguing. They were going to film something else but the stunt guy was paralyzed?

  • @DomValela No, not a stunt guy. It was a woman, she was hired as a movie extra. She was going to drive with her car in the background, but something went wrong and crashed in to her car. Google 'Paralyzed Transformers 3'.

  • @onee woah...well thanks!

  • @AgentH53 because you are a puppet of the sistem.. keep buying their products slave.

  • @sicoticosandro

Not minding product placement doesn't equal buying their shit you know.

Are you afraid you might buy something because you saw it in a movie? Seems to me you are the slave.

  • @Enmos I don't buy it .. but fragile minds do... fragile minds like the vast majority of population has.. i try to not buy corporate products.. that's my contribution against modern slavery.

  • @sicoticosandro

I get it.. But why work yourself up over other people who have their own responsibilities?

  • @thishereguy Actually, they don't have to be real products. I have seen plenty of better movies made by better people who have created fake logos and brands to represent products. Idiocracy is a great example, but that movie was ABOUT commercialism. It is like that in lots of other movies as sidelines. How often do you notice NOT seeing a product in a movie? So do we NEED real products? No, but when the product is referenced as part of the world, it is more ethical to create a fake brand.

  • The yacht seemed like a bit of a stretch. I wouldn't have had any idea without the captions, and think that Bay was just going for COOL LOOKING BOAT.

  • this is getting fucking ridiculous, i mean really

  • The product placement in this film is completely part of the story actually....

  • HAHAHHA I love how however many years into the future this is they're still using an already outdated Apple cinema display. Good finds! The sad part is I usually miss most of these and get unknowingly brainwashed. I a couple of these though.

  • 1:47

  • Dude it's just a good movie

  • @TheYelianyeli I hope your joking? Unless ur just a dude impressed by BANG POW CRACK SMACK, woah lucky baddies can't aim straight, good guys get away and save the day- YAYYYYYYYYYY!

  • @JiminyKracker

i'm talking about the human clones and the moral issues

it's a great film it deserves some credit

  • @TheYelianyeli No, it doesn't. They dun goofed a good idea by using a shoddy script, and one-dimensional (and thus unconvincing) characters. But that's Hollywood for ya

  • @JiminyKracker true the story had so much more in it then the movie shows it's a shame but its a good idea

i hope a more talented director makes a remake of this

  • @TheYelianyeli That I can definitely agree with :)

  • @JiminyKracker true the story had so much more in it then the movie shows it's a shame but its a good idea

i hope a more talented director makes a remake of this

but its a great film because there's no better version of this film

  • @TheYelianyeli Watch 'Parts: The Clonus Horror". Better movie, though it actually has Adidas placement as well, which is funny since it's a very small production, haha. It's the same movie basically but purer and more fun, and the story was literally stolen by Michael Bay's team.

  • @JiminyKracker ...point is?

  • @AgentH53 point is your MUM! ahahahaha!

  • @JiminyKracker

tanx for the tip ill watch it some time

  • product placement in movies is fine as long as its very much secondary to the storyline.

  • Dont see why people throw up such a fuss. If I had a tv spot I'd place as much as I can. Before you start bitching about selling out, try WORKING for a few years, then see how you feel about it.

  • I haven't seen this movie. When has it been released.

  • @Chmielok don't bother. Interesting concept - Michael Bay botched with his standard shallow dialogue and one-dimensional characters

  • Adidas! They're shoes to get shot in!

  • 0:43 The plug for Apple: "The computer is down again"

    FAIL for Apple.

    1:55 MSN Search "Not Listed"

    FAIL for MSN

    ROFL

  • lol also the product placement of predictive programming this is the future the elites have chosen for us

  • I think product placement makes movies more real, because they use things that everyone sees in a normal day.

  • @DobleDeDigital agree, but making it in-your-face is far more annoying

  • @DobleDeDigital I agree but when they are leaving them as the centre of the shot for like 10 seconds, that's when it gets stupid. Or when they ruin a plot for the sake of advertising.

  • @emeraldthechao174 Product Placement doesn´t ruin the plot. That doesn´t have any sense man. I love product placement and Michael Bays movies, he is the best film director on Earth.

  • i m sorry, but WHY is it pp when fe u CANT see it on the cars,it has to be plastered on jumbosize to view it as advertising, but i get what you mean

  • GOD! Michael Bay is such a bad director! He needs to stop making movies! NOW! He's dumbing down all the people who watch his films. Listen to the music, it's the same kind of score in all his films.

  • Project Natal ^^

  • So basically they predicted Natal, only thing missing is the 3D holo-screen

  • michael bay is awesom, and all ways will be, he is a genious at what he does, an artist. Film making is art, its amazing.

  • @marshan3q bullshit

  • I cannot believe that michael bay would put product placements in his movies I am shocked......................

  • "Still sucks in the future" Hahahahaha,

  • every movie has tons and tons of product placement.

  • @FalconsVick72 yes put he seems to have alot of them in each one of his movies

its even shot as though it was a commercial

  • Adidas was the e best

  • Make a video showing the product placement in Josie and the Pussycats, oh wait, then you'll just be showing the entire movie....

  • The thing about the Wally is that nobody would know that's what it was unless it was pointed out, as you did. It's a yacht with a futuristic design, fitting the movie rather well, but the average theatre-goer wouldn't know that it was a 118.

The rest of it was unnecessary though.

  • I'm surprised that there aren't more. Hell, Happy Gilmore had over 70 different products from start to finish.

  • This is all advertising now ;) Though some of the products were like part of a story , most were there for pure advertising.

  • I Michael Bay's words "Let's face it, guys. The world is focused on products. Products surround us. And for us to think, in the year 2019, that we're not gonna still be focused, and still have products and labels flying at us from every different vantage point, is just unreal. It's just not a true world. Besides, it's not like I'm making my shitty movies and shittier by doing this. I am a gigantic whore. AMERICA AMERICA!!"

  • If you could pause for a minute with your ridiculous jealousy toward a man who makes more money and gets more tail than you AND ACTUALLY WATCH THE MOVIE you will discover, perhaps to your astonishment, that the characters themselves are "products" and the film is about the overload of commerciality in American culture to point where humanity itself is worthless.

  • I think there are greater directors to be jealous of steven spielberg, christopher nolan ect.

  • Natal porject on 0:45

  • @Kdarkov The Natal Project wasn't presented until 2009. This movie was released in 2005. Though Michael Bay did have people from a "think tank", so that explains the idea and also how Microsoft wanted a paperless desk. :)

  • Really? Most of these make the movie more realistic. I think the Xbox, Aquafina and MSN Search were the only ones that were really unnecessary.

  • msn: "still sucks in the future"

    i love it :D

  • I hate Bud-2...last time I checked men could do stuff for themselves.

  • This may come as a surprise to some of you, but Michael Bay is a retard, when you listen to his interviews, that's not an act, don't hit yourself, he is really that dumb, and yes, they're giving him millions, cause dumb men making dumb shit make a lot of money, because... drum roll... moviegoers are dumbshits, don't look any further, no mystery in that system.

  • @ cyclonic tuna

michael bay is also the producer...

  • Nice video. Good job! Actually I noticed I lot of product placement but not them all, seems like it is made for the American audience.

  • I hate people who go see a movie and then complain about the fucking product placement. I mean go see the movie already. Do you really sleep better at night knowing that half the american movies made are sponsored by budweiser? By the way, product placement isn't controlled by the director but by the producers so the fact that micheal bay loves product placement is probably bullshit.

  • @hartmanmp forget the product placement, who really cares if they show a logo or say the name of a car or drink? It doesn't make the movie better or worse. That's how it is in real life anyway. Companies need to advertise so they can make money. If you were selling something, you'd want to advertise just as much as these guys do.

Michael bay gets paid to put these products in his movies. Why would he turn money down just because of a little logo or name?

  • the island was easily Michael Bay's best movie.

  • i assume this is an underhand insult, of course - well played!

  • Wow, what a huge accomplishment (sarcasm)
