A lot of people are commenting about how the age group would benefit the kids but this breakup is optimal for teachers. I work in a preschool and while 0-18 months sounds nice even at a 1:4 teacher ratio it is VERY difficult for a teacher to look after a 2-3 month old while you have a 13-14 month old running around your feet, possibly knocking over the 8-9 months old that are trying to get their balance and crawl. And around all of this childcare, child development assessments are going on.
Nice center, but this is a Tutor Time. The only thing they did was change the name and add a green strip under the yellow, blue and red stripes. Actually, I am kind of surprised that the original builders (Tutor Time) allowed the current owners the use of the words: Twaddlers & Preppers, as these are unique to the Tutor Time brands around the world. Looks great though!
They are splitting the children to be in compliance with their state ratios. It is required by law that infants who are 1 year old and walking be separated from those that are not walking and younger. Check with your local licensing to view state specifics. Trust me, they are not doing it to 'make more money'. Most daycares loose approximately $10,000 (and up depending on the size) per month, just so that they can provide a quality learning environment for our children.
the only thing I dissagree with is having them split up into age groups so precisely. kids learn from older children. especialy at such a young age.
I would have 0- 18 months, baby unit, 18 months to 2 years. toddler unit. 2 to 3, twaddler.
3 to 5 pre school.
I don't see the need for the babies to be split from the slightly older babies. 12 to 18 months is not really a toddler imo. 18 months to almost 3 is a toddler.
@Rowan07001484 I used to work at a Daycare center and they are "split up so Precisely" because the 6weeks, 6 months age group have diffrent needs then the "older" age group and they also have diffrent schudlas like Feeding and napping. at the daycare I worked at we had Infant 1(6week-12month(or when they started walkin) Infant2(from 12months-16months) Waddlers(from16months-24months) then Toddlers 1 and toddlers 2(from 24months-36months and then Pre-K 1 and Pre-k 2 from 36months to 48months) =)
I know they have different needs, but their needs can be met along side children older than them. But I suppose in such a large setting it's difficult.
No way. Have you worked at a daycare? A 12-month-old and a 18-month-old are at completely different levels of development. They need to be split up. 18-month-olds have mastered walking & most of them know how to run, while a 12-month-old is just learning to walk.
I live in different country for starters. We are allowed 0-3 all in together as long as there are less than 8 in the room. we don't actually get very many children in the centre. becuase it is very small.
and actualy it can take from ages 9-18 months for a child to learn to walk. they don't all develop at the same speed. I don't see how that warrents a different room. the fact that some might be able to run at 18 months, which is very unlikely.
we also have two twin boys, one didn't learn to walk till he was two. the other still can't walk and is nearing 3. they have physical problems they have cerebral palsy. This centre doesn't even mention additional support needs. they should not have a seperate room. that will make the children feel different.
i wish i worked at a centre like this, it's brilliant, and the kids can really have a good time in a place like this. I don't wish to speak ill of my centre .but it's a dump and underfunded. one room for all kids ages 0 to 16. with a cut off area for babies and children 0 to 3 years.
they can begin training. it doesn't mean they are forced to use a potty. it's just preparing them, getting them used to sitting on a potty and understanding what one is for, even if they are not actuay trained to use it. in the centre I work at, some kids have a potty in the centre when they are 18 months. they may want to sit on it, as the older children do.
@timgirl100 Umm... yea, keyword "training".. Its not all about rushing its about the kids being ready.. My brother was trained at the age of 9 1/2 months. He was fully trained by the time he turned 1. That right there, isnt rushing, its the concept of brilliantness of a child.
i want to open my own child care center one day...... this is a helpful video

@silenttearz03 Yes this true, and I know most of these people who are saying this can't possibly work with infants because they would know that.

Then you should come to the US. All of our kids are walking by 15 months and running by 18 months.

I doubt it some how, isn't there loads of people living in poverty in certain states. unable to even afford medical care.
