We were so lucky to have had her for 89 days, and we were able to give her a beautiful Catholic baptism by the same priest who baptized her daddy. This is great. You sing it wonderfully and actually use the correct length of the quick sixteenth notes and holding the long notes, which I've never actually heard done correctly outside of my own church. (Our music director is a stickler for that sort of thing.) I haven't found a version this fast and we actually sing it a little faster than this at my church. Great job.

@ram010992 It's a great job for sure. However, it doesn't matter about the quick 16th notes, feel the song and sing it according to the energy in the room. If the people feel it slower then sing it slower, music should not be in stone, especially when the Spirit guides you. Yes it's a song of Hope but that doesn't mean singing it slow wont accomplish that. Tempo changes are always great in a song, gives it a journey

This is one of my favorite hymns. It was sung at my grandmother's funeral. She passed on 5 years ago as of Oct 10th.

I don't know if it was a coincidence, but she died at 5 til 3 pm on the Feast of Our Lady of Aparecida.

Actually, the children's choir that I now conduct has been singing this for a quite a while now. But we don't have rehearsal time really, only 15 mins before & after mass, so I try to help them learn songs during the week at home. They've been singing this straight, & not singing the syncopated notes in the verses, so I'm hoping your clear version will help them sing it correctly. I think we normally sing it *slightly* slower, but I lead the last verse at a tempo. Have a blessed Lenten season.

We had this played when my grandfather died. In the months up to his death he went through much pain in the hospital with heart difficulty. I always felt the line "I shall give you rest" was very symbolic for his send off.

You can find the lyrics if you use a search engine with "bob dufford be not afraid lyrics" for example. But I think this song must be in some US church songbooks - at least that's where my aunt found it and she brought it with her to Germany.

Yeah, the quality isn't perfect. This is the audio track of a camcorder recording made somewhere in the middle of our church. Guess it's quite ok considering this. :) I'll upload it again when I have a better recording.
