  • hahahahahah!! 1:22 LUV IT with a passion!! go robo!

    stay awsome <3

  • I don't think the government understands how serious this issue is.

If this filter is forced on us, it's fucking war! I will not stand by as my country becomes China.

Fuck Conroy and his Orwellian Labor cunts

  • It's a conspiracy, Rohan. Curbing information deemed "undesirable" = sounds like Google China.

  • Very well made vid, expressed your point in an articulate manner while still keeping it funny.

  • Haha Accidentally come across porn, heh sure Rohan,

But thats not why I'm dropping a comment here,

This video may fix the widescreen issue you had with this video, and any of your other videos

    watch?v=MFPcAIM8fB0

  • i remember when there was barely any views

  • They're going to use this filter to block criticism of the government and the coming new world order, as well as "crazy" conspiracy theories which might cause you to distrust the government.

  • Have you ever noticed how your mouth shifts to the right as you speak? :D

  • u mean his left, but ur rite, rite?

  • You sound pretty smart, especially in this video. BTW your videos are hilarious.

  • I come across porn sites when I put typos of regular well known sites. T_T youtube without a y for example. Completely by accident! But other then that I agree.

  • You are seriously one of my new favorite people.

  • Jolly good show of brains, wits and humour. I was born to wear pants, but choose NOT too!

  • how old ru btw?

  • haha wow you used so many big words that it fried my brain a little, but it was awesome

    pants are cool btw

  • OMG u were born to wear pant? I didn't know that. Randomness is awsome

  • Now I really want to watch the rest of your videos...

    right now...

unfortunately I can't do that in one night because my internet has slowed down so much.

Glad to see you're studying to teach media. These videos really show your talent off!

I can see you in one of those children's news programs like Behind The News.

I enjoy your humor as well =)

  • Good post, mate!

  • This video was really well-made, good for you!

  • its a new china! Power to the people...oh but wait..censor the people and take their right to free information. Oh, and everyone should feel patriotic at the same time.

  • lol 1:23

  • If anyone out there is concerned about pornography, and just other general yucky stuff, encyclopediadramatica and 4chan are BIIIIIIG no-no's!

there are some terrible stuff on there, so AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

especially if you have young children.... or any children for that matter!

  • i totallyy agree with u 100% im a child myslf... and the only wayyy u could find child porn is if u wanted to find it and dug deep... i admit normal porn is simple but a filter isnt going to stop kids finding porn if they really wanted to... so yehh 100% agreeance great job :)

  • Oh! (Sorry, couldn't resist) Porn on Myspace? OH WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN. <-- NOT HAPPENING. EVER.

The only way you'd get to it is if you actually searched it, and if young children are using the internet, wouldn't the parents have put a block on it?? Unless they were bad parents...Not mentioning names.

If you had something to send web history to an email address, the person accessing the internet could delete it. =/ (OH. DEAR.)

  • You make a very compelling case. FiveStarsFavouritedTwittered

  • Thanks for the shout out John!

  • loved it ro, good stuff!!

  • Filters scare; who's to say they're just going to stick to child porn or just porn for that matter? Once a filter is in place it's only a matter of time before it gets out of hand or is used for someone elses gain like blocking sites that speak out against certain politics or what have you. I trust the government to a certain degree but not enough to block sites for me. Good vid.

  • Filters scare me*, errgh typing. Hah.

  • i love how u can take something this serious and still make it funny and entertaining :P

  • Being in the US, this doesn't affect me at all, but this was a very cool, informative, interesting (and yes, funny) video. Am definitely looking forward to more. Watching out for the kids is cool, but why do governments always insist on micromanaging how people raise their kids? This is why parents have begun to insist that the kids filter the world for them!

  • Great video - Excellent stance on the topic you backed up your argument well.

Can we send you to Canberra to save Vegemite? My friend Sal is not happy about the potential removal of Vegemite from our supermarket shelves!

As for child pornographers. Bring in a law to bury them alive- I'll dig the hole for free!

  • What is this thing about removing Vegemite from the shelves? I haven't heard of this!

  • the "government" is going to put a regulation on

the fat in food products & vegimite might be too

    'fatty'. Its sooooo UN-australian.

  • I'm the Sal IM is referring to in the post below. The politicians in Canberra want to removes Vegemite from the shelves because it's too salty! WTF!?! There's a heap of other things out there that need attention like better pay for Nurses! I worry about my tax dollars when I hear the reports on Vegemite! Nice video on Children and pornography by the way :)

  • This was a very informative and interesting video. Thanks for posting it.

  • i've certainly been missing out Rohan! although, now i kind of accidentally want to take you to a porn shop. (omggg im kidding, but not at all) ^_^

  • p.s. HI!!! :D

  • OMGOMGOMGBEN!

    Hi <3 ^_^

  • Good coverage of the Ministers misguided attempt at political point scoring - as you said, a filter will only solve part of the problem and mask the rest. Another point would be the unconstitutional nature of the second filter (We have a right to privacy). Its a bit unfortunate that the ISP's wont challenge it due to the public backlash it might cause - oh well, Chinas human rights records isnt that great, and thats where Rudd is driving us, along with his ridiculous republic ideas

  • I agree with you and perhaps they should never had invented any pornography.

  • Yeah. I don't advocate the porn industry, but I think a filter is the wrong way to go in combating it.

  • Well said and still amusing. I enjoyed this very much. :)

  • RoboFillet is cool (:

  • i didn't even know there was such a thing as child pornography until this..

    great video rohan!

  • nice analysis! go you! bcawk!

  • It is a test of the tech to shut up political dissent and speech that they don't like, once you start the censorship it can expand at will.

Google Cory Doctorow COMM499 PWNed USC class

and hear about the rest of the plans for you.

    Great video

  • Australia's internet service is a joke. The combination of the governments idiotic policy put together with the incompetence of Telstra will make it almost impossible for any easy access to the internet.

Nice vid Rohan! About time someone made an informative video about this!

  • Yes, that was well done. I agree.

  • Oh No U di'int, lol! you answered me!!! I am honored BEYOND giddiness! seriously!

Thanks for answering my question as informative as you did, you did an ABSOLUTE brill job luv..I'm way impressed...am sorry it was such a pain to answer and your right, 3.5 mins just only got u started on a very good defense...Peace Friend!!

  • The answering itself wasn't difficult - just the uploading ; ) It was no problem!

  • this was really cool! hope to see more!

  • Yeah my internet has been extremely slow these past few days. Very well said, Rohan =D

  • Robofillet is the new Voice of Reason ^_^

I actually spent the whole video going "yes, yes! Someone who still has a brain in this whole Internet Censor debacle!"

  • What really sucks about this internet filter is that it was said that it'll slow down our internet connections by at least 15% but could go up to slowing it down by 87%

I think thats BS our internet is slow as it is anyways

  • Actually they've refined the filter now. It was going to be a dynamic filter, which tests showed would slow our internet speed to a crawl. Now it is two more-or-less static blacklists so the effect of net speed is much less, which is why I didn't talk about that (or else by jove I would have!)

These new tests they have proposed are testing the effectiveness of the static filters in adequately blocking content. I'm fairly certain they won't bring the dynamic filter idea back (fingers crossed!)

  • I really like the direction you're going with your channel Rohan. You're a very articulate and intelligent individual.

Plus you're a gigglefest. I kind of love you.

  • I've gone all gooey <3

  • I read about this subject in the news. I find it interesting that there has not been more public outrage and protest. Don't get me wrong, I would love for someone to do away with child pornography.

I guess in American society we would see this as a freedom being taken away from us. Most of the US believe it is the parents job to watch thier children, not the govornment. I don't speak for everyone of course.I understand the thought behind the censorship and if it works great! Great Vid BTW

  • In Australia it's not really about freedom. Australians do not have an express right to freedom of expression because we do not have a bill of rights - only implied rights as defined by a High Court judge while interpreting our constitution.

This argument is really about whether or not it is good policy. There are a litany of reasons why it isn't. Discussions about this being an encroachment on our rights should be an afterthought, because they don't provide conclusive reasons not to do this.

  • The policy in my opinion can work, but of course has its flaws. Yes it is very good that child pornorgraphy will be blocked, but like you said it doesn't eliminate the problem. Other sites on the otherhand, that the govornment deem undesireable, are considered undesireable by the govornment. It is more the computer owners responsibility to filter thier own internet, and monitor what thier children are doing. Sorry for my lack of understanding Australian Govt. LOL. I really do enjoy your videos

  • Oh don't worry about lack of understanding. I knew you aren't Australian so I wasn't expecting you to know but I took the opportunity to edumacate anyone who might read big-looking comments ; )

  • Sorry to make these comments so long. I keep writing because I enjoy intelligent conversation. It is hard to say everything in 500 characters. Thanks for replying both times. I look forward to your future videos, because well they are interesting. Oh and I do not advocate the porn industry either. Did you know they are trying to get a govornment bail out? Thanks again for your time. Talk to you soon.

  • Great points there Rob

and there animated cuts are awesome

  • What about the children???? haha. Rohan iz so funny!

  • 1) Deja vu

    2) "accidently" being the operative word when stumbling onto porn.

Any movement being sponsored by a group calling itself "Family First" should immediately be considered suspect. They may claim to support families, but their intention is to inflict their will on EVERYBODY, families or not. Homophobic groups often call themselves such names here in America, also espousing the marketing ploy that they're supposedly protecting children.

  • *sigh* Unfortunately uploading the second time didn't do me much good. I really have to figure out what the correct rendering settings are before I attempt anything like this again.

And yeah Family First are a bit like that. They've done some good stuff in the past, but I'm pretty unimpressed with them in general.

  • thats really informative, and thank you for sharing!

  • Well spoken. Great video, Ro!

  • I hate it when people make perfect sense in a video because I never have anything to respond with. Damn you logic and reason!

  • The poster on the left hand side of you (from my perspective) does it say "Alabaster"? It kind of looks like it could be a Battlestar Galactica one.

  • Disclo is right, it's an Alabaster Box poster. AB are a band that started in my city and are now touring America.

  • Oh. Cool =)

  • Haha, I understood the ending this time!

(Sorry for the double psot :P)

  • Haaaa, my comment was right after that one XD

  • i like this.

    i like this seriousness.

    please educate us more.

  • Great video, Rohan. You're good at this kind of thing.

  • you rock dude, I like your videos more than I like MCR fan-fics, and I read and write a lot of MCR fan-fics.

  • i listen to for like hours if you were to lecture me cause you are funny yet informative at the same time go you

  • Hi Rohan,

Excellent work on your first Poultry Press video. You argued your point succinctly and thoroughly.

    Peter.

  • Thank you! <3

  • The filter is also going to be banning drugs, violence and terrorism.

  • BigPond isn't taking part in the internet filter. Yay! Because we just switched from Optus to BigPond because we moved houses.

They're spending about 60 million dollars a year on this filter, and it's a 4 year trial plan thing. That's a shit load of money that could be put to some good use.

    Rudd failz epically.

  • All the ISPs taking part in the trial have gone on record to say they are doing so to prove how it won't work. I'm really hoping it does not succeed.

Generally I like the Rudd government actually. They've apologised to the stolen generation, closed the detention centres outside Australia and acknowledged global warming, but I'm angry he hasn't yet carried through with his promise to fix Australia's broadband network.

  • i know im not from austrialia but i do agree with you there

  • I like the alternative idea you mentioned in this video, the promotion of accountability software. This seems like a much better idea than the filter.

Very well thought out, Rohan. Lets hope the Conroy himself sees this video and you proverbially smack some sense into him.

BTW, "I was born to wear pants." Totally know this quote, who said it? I'm thinking it was a tweet for some reason. =P

  • It was my tweet =P

  • You fool. I'm obviously Australian.

  • Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

  • A phenomenal video Robofillet, instant five star rating and favorite. Both entertaining and informative. Something I fail to do in videos, except when I'm juggling infants and spouting Marxism, simultaneously.

  • Why thank you Lewis, I'm glad! Uploading this video nearly killed me. That's nearly ten hours of my life I won't be getting back.

  • Worth it though, on a lighter note, can I please call your subscribers 'The Riders of Rohan' from now on?

  • HAHAHA!

I was going to go for something like 'Chickens' - less likely to be taken for a double-entendre!

  • "Won'y somebody please think of the children!!!!"
