I as a newer generation now realize what the beatles are and how amazing and well thought their songs are. I could only imagine what they could have been now if they lasted. Blackbird is my favourite song. I think that the meaning to this song is so powerful and that this was written about the civil right struggle. If only todays generation could write songs with such poetic device like the metaphor used in black bird. But I can only dream...

According to a BBC documentary, this song is about the civil rights movement here, and how the Beatles wouldn't play for a segregated concert. So I mean no offense at all, just trying to help straighten out the story. Your music teacher's story is a good logical one though...
