lmfao i accidentally clicked on his one instead of the glee one and went back to my facebook tab and was like WTF ? cos i was expecting the warblers (from glee) not the beatles. but this ones good too :)
Magical song for sure but search "the Beatles blackbird on steroids" if you want to hear a rockin' version of the song. I guarantee you've never heard it like this! The video ain't bad either!
This song is extremely moving it got me through a really tough time so thanks dedicatedtolost but secondly this princessgdancer I think you have got the meaning of the song wrong not all songs are about sex and money they are deeper than that
It means what you want it to mean. I think that it means in time to break out of you r cage and be free. Be yourself. Go out in the world, enjoy life, and don't let anyone hold you back <3
The thing is bud i can write poetry with passion & Emotion but do you think the fat cats @ the top would let me air it??.( I think not!!). Back in the day they got away with it, Do you Really think that they want people to like the sound of LOVE,PEACE,HARMONY??. Cause they don't!!!. Songs have so much meaning & mean so much to so many different people that's the reason i think Jacko was killed & John lennon himself. The media don't like people like that thats why there dead:(.peace.RickyP
@drunkanmaster For the record, John Lennon wasn't killed because of that. The dude who shot him was obsessed with the novel The Catcher in the Rye, and the morals of that book in some ways went against Lennon's.
I as a newer generation now realize what the beatles are and how amazing and well thought their songs are. I could only imagine what they could have been now if they lasted. Blackbird is my favourite song. I think that the meaning to this song is so powerful and that this was written about the civil right struggle. If only todays generation could write songs with such poetic device like the metaphor used in black bird. But I can only dream...
Justin is right, when I saw him in concert in 2002 he said this was inspired by a black woman he saw protesting against her treatment in the Civil Rights movement.
someone in my school makes fun of the live, ''older Paul'' version... no matter how old he gets this will still be an AMAZING song
it is actually about a black woman... you see, in England they call girls birds, a bit similar to in the U.S calling girls chicks, right? (my music teacher taught me that see, I DID pay attention!) :)
@vhjkvfgh Did you know Charles Manson tried to say it was about the rise of the Black Man? Lol, just had to say that 'cause i didn't actually know what this song was about 'till i read your comment. Not that i believed Charles Manson on it.
@princessgdance Why do all songs have to come down to sex or drugs? There are no connotations of this being about a woman in the lyrics at all. In fact it's more likely that's it about overcoming hardships (take these broken wings and learn to fly) or something similar.
@princessgdance What do you think happens between a man and a woman? If this was about a woman what with Paul McCartney being a man, it would instantly be about sex. I said drugs because everyone says every song is either about sex or drugs. It was merely a complaint about everyone making those suggestions.
@vhjkvfgh No... its not. its about how all your life your just waiting to die, and thats the whole point of doing stuff... your jus twaiting to die. i Know its sad but its true. so don't go sayin that its about a black woman
@TortelliniTv2gb it is about a black women when paul mcartney was on tour he saw a black women being arrested and beaten for sitting in the whites section on a bus and he was shocked because england didnt have segregation so its about freedom and stuff like that
@vhjkvfgh Sorry to have to correct you but this song was written and recorded after the Beatles refused to Perform at a segregated concert here in America. According to a BBC documentary, this song is about the civil rights movement here, and how the Beatles wouldn't play for a segregated concert. So I mean no offense at all, just trying to help straighten out the story. Your music teacher's story is a good logical one though...
