@Lirico96 verissimo....e poi con qualche dolcezza Bergonzi canta "qual occhio al mondo può star di paro"....bellissimo duetto veramente!!!!

As much as I love this recording, I think it does not present an ideal match. We have two wonderful singers with each their different artistry. Callas subtly with words, music and voice, Bergonzi brilliant in carrying the beautiful round sound of his around with fantastic portamenti/legati asf. As if they are singing on two different planets - maybe I should say stars. I cannot help loving it though, despite it´s diversity.

in '65 Callas was not in her prime but all the old artistry i still there even if the vocal chords are less able to serve! Bergonzi is however very much in his prime, he brings more to this duet than any other rendition known to me. A great collaboration and a great posting ! Thank you docello7.

@pjdonagh I agree about Callas not being in her prime, though I find it interesting that she seems so much more secure and focused in sound in this recording, as opposed to her '65 Covent Garden performance. Aside from her earlier Tosca's I find this performance to be representative of her supreme artistry and talent. And of course, Bergonzi is peerless...

As much as I love la Callas, Bergonzi takes the prize in this duet... for me it is the definitive rendition, he makes it sound so effortless and takes his time despite it being such a difficult part!
