Love the red wings, but they don't make buildings like they use to. The Olympia and Chicago were the best.
The people who tear down these hockey cathedrals it doesn't effect, because they'll make money on the new arena. It effects the millions of fans who have had great memories in these buildings. Sad.
my cousin told me about this arena and how teams would hate too play there and how the stadium shook because it was so loud and fierce wish i could have seen a game played there
The atmosphere is incredible. But the one thing that will never change is Chicago having the loudest fans in the world. Things like this have so much history and should never be removed. RIP chicago stadium. I hope that they dont tear down the saddledome in calgary because i personally love it.
Im from Calgary and i hear people saying all the time that the saddledome is a run down barn and needs to be replaced. I agreed for a bit, until i saw a video of the winnipeg arena, and all its character. when i saw it being torn down i really couldnt believe it, tearing the chicago stadium is so sad. We look back on things like this all the time and think "damn, i regret that". i dont think when they tore this down they realized that this is 1 huge piece of the original 6. The Organ, the fans.
There was no reason to raise this monument to Chicago. It could have kept serving. To think even the organ was lost in a warehouse fire, leaving the keyboard to a collector in Vegas.
The residents of Chicago should be ashamed of them selves, it was all preventable if they had gotten historic designation. To all the great fans there, you should be ashamed of your selves.
My old man always talks about the Chicago Stadium. I got to 'see' one Hawks game there when I was 3.He took me just so his son could say he went there. Hearing my dad talk about that place is like hearing him talk about his first car or something. Cool video thanks for the upload
I enjoyed every Blackhawks game I saw at The Stadium. Best hockey venue ever. I miss it. It was big, gray, dark and dingy and that organ could blow your fillings out. The new place is sorry, went there once, will not go back!! And just a little trivia for you.
Chicago Stadium was the sight of the very first NFL official indoor game. Yes,it happened. Check it out.
that place is irreplaceable and it should not have been in the UC's shadow it should be the opposite way around, it was a crime destroying that place and they should have taken the great big pipe organ with them across the road
Saw Dr. J try to dunk on Artis Gilmore there one night. Artis stopped Dr. J at the very peak of the dunk way above the rim. But Andrew Tooney drained too many outside shots. Great Game.
Seen The Who there for my first concert ever, Seen Bobby Hull when he was trying to break 51 goals, was there when they brought down the all the banners for the Great Hawks at the last regular season game against the Maple Leafs and seen Air Jordan fly there. Thank you Old Barn/Madhouse I love you and miss you!
Ah yes I remember the Madhouse on Madison. It was definitly an experience. When Wayne Messmer would sing the Natl. anthem you couldn't hear a damn thing but the crowd going crazy. Now all you hear is cell phones going crazy. I saw Hulk Hogan vs. Nick Bokwinkel in a cage match when the AWA was around. The good ole days when a hooker cost a nickel. ;-)
The Chicago Stadium and Comiskey Park. Two Chicago icons that never should have been destroyed. Yeah they to add up to professional standards of today, but they shouldn't have torn them do just because there main tenets got new stadiums. There is a tone of stuff we could be using both of them for, Jerry Reinsdorf is a good owner for both the Sox and Bulls, but he really pisses me off sometimes because he never makes any effort to preserve history.
air jordan once said he loved playing in that building......he would be ok.he delivered a new 1 the united center. we still got the momories from the old one though.

You could probably fit 2 Chicago Stadiums inside the United Center with room to spare for a 747.

Loudest stadium, ever. I don't give a F---CK, what anyone says. The Orange Bowl is the second. Shea Stadium is the 3rd.

Basketball is not silly, and being in the UK, you probably like soccer(football) which here in the US is mainly played by girls.

I'm from Mass. so of course I miss my Boston Garden but Chicago Stadium is very similiar. Both buildings had character.

1:38 chokes me up. It's like the building's heart was exposed and ripped right out.

Thank you. I didn`t think much of that scoreboard pic at the time, but a couple of peeps have commented on it,
I can`t believe the difference, between the scoreboards of yesteryear, compared to today.

@MrChrisOsgoodfan Neon trimmings on the scoreboard clock? How cool is THAT? Some things have been lost forever, unfortunately...
