If I were Hatter or Hare, I'd have been sneaky and said "Well, there is a reason why we keep slipping-up and saying 'she' in context to our beloved ruler. You see, your brother wanted to keep this a secret but...he is married. And we were referring to our beloved Queen, his wife." And then they'd be off the hook! Of course Rabbit would be in deeper water, and the Queen might have to pretend to be married to Rabbit. Could all that fit in 24 minutes?
"But I'm... I'm not the king. I'm just the servant..." Wow. I felt his shame there. I'm glad the White Rabbit saw his own ruse for what it was. But seeing him become so small in the end, it was rather heartbreaking.
Hare filling in for Rabbit because a hare is the closest thing to a rabbit is a nice little bit of logic for people who have been fooled by fake mustache disguises.
Haha I love how the Queen goes along with the charade to save Rabbit from embarrassment. Even though they are lying, it's so endearing that they are trying to help a friend.
Sure, it's wrong to lie about who you are, but the way this episode was resolved didn't really bother me, as Rabbit was very uncomfortable being deceitful. I think he learned his lesson and will work up the courage to tell his brother the truth. The Queen will ensure that. :)
@TheOutgriber I got that impression, too. Hell, every episode involves characters doing things they shouldn't and figuring out the hard way. Without that, we wouldn't have a show!
