Thank you for replying to me:) I didn't expect that, but I am glad you got to know him. I didn't even know this was on here until my dad showed me yesterday. He was an amazing man and you've got to love his mustache!
@cindygillispie Yeah, he had a pretty cool mustache! He also had an impressive memory. I think we interviewed something like 18 veteran's that weekend. They were all great, but a few, like your uncle, were especially compelling. Just so you know, his interview is in the Library of Congress as well. You can go to the Veteran's History Project website and look it up. Feel free to email me if you want the link (YouTube doesn't allow for that in the comments box.)
@cindygillispie I replied to your comment on Part 2 of the interview. Your uncle was a great guy and I enjoyed interviewing him. He was an "Old Breed" Marine, that can be no doubt about that.
This is a great American. My father was also in combat in 4 battles of the 4rth Div in WWII but I regret not having any tapes like this of him as he had many, many stories. God bless them all. Thanks for doing this and posting it.
Mooney Stall was my grandfather. This interview brought tears to my eyes and a heart full of pride. I am blessed to of had such a hero for a grandpa. My mother had the full interview on tape at one time. Is there any way you could help me get another copy? Thank you for posting this.
exellent exellent excellent,, you dont even know the great job you have done ,, its almost like you save a divinci masterpiece,, great great job,, thankyou
Excellent. Great interview. Continue doing interviews like this as tirelessly as Ambrose did. All of us must interview all the possible veterans we can find. A thousand of them are lost from us everyday, so there isnt any time to delay talking to and interviewing veterans.
Thanks for the kind words. We have interviewed over 150 veteran's, to date, and I never tire of hearing what these guys experienced. It's sad that in ~5-10 years, most of these guys will be gone...but not forgotten.
I don't have any relatives that have been in combat. But my great-grandfather (died 20 years ago) was a Marine sniper in Nicaragua and talked to my dad about having to shoot two rebels on a rock just sitting, talking, and eating. It haunted him for a long time.
they should do more advertising with these vets instead of pretty boys who get their nails done and have highlights in their hair. these are real men with real conviction honour and courage. there are no humans alive that are as valuable as these great men period.instead of saying god bless we should be saying thanks vet.
great job on the vids u have. we need more. they died creating a message and we must spread it. if we don't learn history we might forget and that is a lesson we can afford to go through again. feel proud of yourself for honouring these great men. LEST WE NEVER FORGET. bless u and yours. i would be PROUD TO DIE beside a man of your convictions.
Thank you Mr Stall for your service to this Great Nation in her hour of need. Sorry you had to go through all that, but you and all your comrades are Hero's in my book.
Thanks stonleywave for posting this remarkable interview series. We are grateful for all these "known" and "unknown" veterans. We are here today because of them. They all have sacrificed theirs yesterday for ours today. May long live them and may God bless all of them.
Thank-you for the kind words. I have been VERY busy interviewing more veterans and honing my editing skills. More videos will be on the way shortly. I hope you'll enjoy/appreciate them.
You are doing a great job [a duty],my friend. I really admire your work from a remote corner of the world. I always maintain what I said in my above comment. However, I feel sorry to notice the less number of viewers of war related videos. Pls keep up your good work.
stonleywave, thank you for putting these videos on YouTube. I cannot interview anyone myself, because I do not know any living veterans, but I wish I could contribute. I enjoy your videos and look forwards to future videos.
Well, thank you! I'll have more videos from a reunion I attend in May from the veteran's of the USS New Orleans (17 battle stars). Please let me know what you think.
Airwaves1989 - Your English is very good. It's a lot better than my German! Anyway, I would have loved to have heard what your grandfather had to say about the D-Day invasion. However, I'm sure there are other "grandfathers" in Austria with stories to tell. You should interview them. Take care.
excellent job! my grandfather was part of the german amry. he was at the "westwall" at june 6th....i wanted to do something like you but he died about 2 years ago... anyway great job! (sorry my english is not that good..i´m from austria ;) )
Thanks, Gandalfo120. I figured with all of the crap I see on Youtube there ought to be a place for material with some substance to it. Not everyone appreciates this sentiment. I'm glad you do.

I experience something which I can't explain when I talk with or see interviews and/or stories about these guys.
I was in Nam and have my own "stories".
We did some stuff there and had some experiences which are best left back there.
However, when I listen to these guys talk about what they did and went through, I feel as if I didn't do a goddamn thing.
I can't explain this and, I don't feel that when I talk about Europe in WWII.
I have to finish this in a second comment.

I wish someone had done this with the WW1 vets.
I knew some, lovely old great grandfather types, but they were all gone before I realised there real importance to history.
And like their sons they were reluctant to talk about it unless they knew they had to.
God bless Harry Patch, who never shared his living nightmares until his 100th year!.

I could not agree more. It seems what we value in our culture is inversely proportional to what is important and substantive.
