Its fights like this one that would seem to strongly hint that at least the first 6 final fantasy games are all connected by the creator and the crystals...when has the main character of another final fantasy game ever been so overtly mentioned? haha, I love it

One thing this game really dropped the ball on is music. The Ost is good but they couldn't put in old peaces from the games these bosses originate; like Battle on the big bridge.

Well, it is kind of an extra fight. You should beat in order to advance through the Moon's Subterrane, but it could have been any other enemy, because it doesn't have to see with the plot in anyway. However, it was very good for Square Enix to include it this way.

So, yes, it would be an extra battle.
