I like Giguere but his style is a bit outdated. He is very butterfly, and that seems to be all he does. He flops onto his knees and because he is so big he just blocks it. I do like him, but that is all he does!
he is a blocking butterfly goalie, its a version of the butterfly he perfected and I am currently modifying the style. Its a great style because he uses his frame, lateral movement, positioning, and his angles to make the save. Different from reacting.
That makes no sense for both teams unless Burke is willing to deal out extra incentives and take in Giggy's $6 mil salary. Plus, that doesn't help the Ducks out because, what about Pogge?

It was then when the Ducks made thier underdog Cup run in '03, and I became amazed at Giguere. Ever since then, he's been my favorite player and hockey hero. Giguere went from a crappy goalie to a goalie who stopped shots simply because he began wearing enormous equipment. He wears absolutely enormous leg pads, gigantic shoulder pads, and a ludicrously-large chest protector. He covers an obscene amount of the net.
Sure, he makes the occasional acrobatic save. However, in general he'll get scored on if he needs to move from side to side at all. That's not skill. If the NHL ever limits equipment size for goalies, Giguere will go down the tubes.
giguere plays with tremendous heart, he should've been traded after the ducks won the cup, cause you know the ducks would get lazy after they won the cup like any other NHL team, like i know they finished 4th, but in the playoffs they didnt play for there lives

Giguere is the best FUNDAMENTAL butterfly goalie in the game, he is usually in position and makes the saves he should make but less saves he shouldn't make than other, if it gets behind him or soemthing, rarely does he die back or anything, he kind of weatches and his great D bails him out, but he definately a good goalie, the best tho are like Tretiak, Roy, Brodeur, possibly Luongo but he has to prove himself as a winner

2002-03 season, and the 2006-07 season, that's two, and he is not slowing down, and he won the Vezina trophy in 2003, so to say he sucks is a mistake, and the Ducks have dominated their division for this whole season. Also, I don't think it is possible to loose to someone, lose maybe, and it was a 7 game series, so it's not like they were dominated.
What makes Giguere so amazing is he rarely forces himself to make that "amazing" stop, and if he has to, you wouldn't notice more often than not. Insane fundamentals :).

Giguere is the best FUNDAMENTAL butterfly goalie in the game, he is usually in position and makes the saves he should make but less saves he shouldn't make than other, if it gets behind him or soemthing, rarely does he die back or anything, he kind of weatches and his great D bails him out, but he definately a good goalie, the best tho are like Tretiak, Roy, Brodeur, possibly Luongo but he has to prove himself as a winner

yes detroit lost ducks are going to beat ottawa even though im a canadian i cheer for anahiem but hockey is canada's game all the americans suck at hockey even though there is more american teams but mostly all canadians and europeans play fo those teams

What I noticed about giguere is that hes not a flexible goalie, but hes so big in the net he makes up for it.

what we need is for someone who knows what they are doing with a video editor to come up with a "Best of" clip of Giggy for THIS year.....Ive followed almost every game (missed maybe 3) and Giggy had PLENTY of dandies this year.....I just wish I knew what I was doing when it comes to this stuff >_<

most of these saves are just average glove saves and the only reason why it has a decent rating is because everyone that has posted is a ducks homer.

I know, I thought Gaborik actually score, there was absolutely no way Giguere could've made a save from where he was but he did it. I thought the goal light was going to go on but it never went. 5 minutes later, I went like "Whoa!!!! And that's our goalie?!"

2002-03 season, and the 2006-07 season, that's two, and he is not slowing down, and he won the Vezina trophy in 2003, so to say he sucks is a mistake, and the Ducks have dominated their division for this whole season. Also, I don't think it is possible to loose to someone, lose maybe, and it was a 7 game series, so it's not like they were dominated.

What makes Giguere so amazing is he rarely forces himself to make that "amazing" stop, and if he has to, you wouldn't notice more often than not. Insane fundamentals :).
