  • Alice the dead movie o_O

  • im a 20 year old woman and I think is absolutely breathtaking. Even more breathtaking is to see how far cinema has come today. It's great to see how cinema has evolved and I absolutely love this and how much effort evidently went into creating this silent film.

  • ah from alice wonderland 2010 of 2011

  • stupid eas mtf

  • I think that the 'severe damage' was that it got burned coz if you pause it at one if those points it looks like it! This is truly amazing!!

  • everyone in this movie is dead, even the children

  • @MrSkate4weed That's kinda cool.

  • The rabbit looks has inguinal hernia!

  • it looks like a 3 year old edited this on an iphone app.

  • I heard that the first version is just as fucked up as American McGee's and Madness Returns.

  • 111 years ago!! Histrionically very valuable and entertaining.

  • @ziggycat999 you mean 109 years ago?

  • watching this while baking. holy momma how trippy is this

  • sometimes we feel just like poor alice chasing after a little white bunny!

  • Thumbs up if your favorite part was 'eat me'

  • @PatsRule122 I was complaining about cgi being overused (like in the shit bomb avatar)

Not that you cant be creative with it. Also have you seen the original king long because all the monsters were stop motion not cgi.

(if you like fake tits that's fine but I don't)

  • This is made in 100 years ago!?

    Wow...!

  • I have the weirdest boner right now.

  • @THEBRADWORONA ..........how big is it?

  • @TheUserCBI616464 Lewis Carrol was a bit a junky to be fair.

  • i was thinking of having my sweet sixteen based on this movie , is that a good idea ?

  • @DajanaeM No. It just means you're a spoilt turd.

  • Kids of today might not know this but there was a time when filmmaking was an art and

Not full of fake tits and c.g.i

  • @Eternalgamers1 i don't see how CGI makes it any less of an art. Filmmakers back then had less to work with, but still made great movies. All CGI does is let you bring more of their imagination come to life.

And by the way, i love fake tits.

  • mad hatter was spilling water on camera every now and then! ;)

  • Oh crap that chick is so hot.

  • wtf is this piece of shit. so glad i wasn't back then

  • @yakinoanderson Excuse them if "digital" isn't in the dictionary yet.

  • @yakinoanderson Please die.

  • is this really from 1903? lol

  • It's such a psychedelic movie for me,but I don't know why.

  • @Asztonmartin because in reality its a movie about drugs....The author of the book did Magic Mushrooms and is also the reason why Alice is always eating them in the film

  • fucking creepy

  • This is so stupid. But i still love it.

  • its kinda creepy

  • WOOOOW, Dahora man *-*

  • Ugly quality but thats how it was back then and great movie

  • wow 1903, this is precious precious footage, if we dont have all these modern websites this wouldve been more valuable, think how much u cud sell it for

  • Just watched the 1933 version tonight with friends and went online to look for more. The baby in the kitchen scene in this version sure gets treated better than the one in the 1933 version! LOL! I enjoyed seeing this. Glad they were able to restore it.

  • That's actually so fantastic!

  • wow! that was a great film! i enjoyed it VERY much!!!!

  • when I saw the cheshire cat, I couldnt help but laugh!

  • Aww, the card kids look like little KKK members xD

  • The rabbit is definately creepy.

  • Lol watched this in claz and 4 some reason everyone found it funny

  • Wow, this is amazing! I love it.

  • I really like this. I don't like how people don't appreciate the stuff that DEFINED cinema--it's thanks to these movies that we have Transformers and all that other blockbuster shit.

  • trippyyyy

  • WOW! Such an old good British film survived 100 years. It was longest movie in Britain (isn't it?). THAT'S WHY BRITAIN IS THE BEST! THANK YOU, BFI. THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME!

  • looks like it was done by some lame NYC artsy hipsters.

  • @WHOTHAFUCK in fact, it is made in our times, lol

  • Truly amazing!!!!!!!

  • this is fake, 1865 was the 1st, and compaired to the date there is 1905 with Mrs. J. C. Gorham publishes

    this is fake,

  • best cheshire cat ever @ 5:08

  • Wow.

So this is what the first Alice in Wonderland look like.

  • Is that guy in a wig playing Alice??

  • that cat was cute <3 in the disney's film that was only scary :s

  • wow that was a short film! very cool film though =)

  • I remember when it just came out, I got it on Blu-Ray because of my Playstation 3. Damn....good times....

  • Imagine that =) a 9 minute movie, and even that was long for those days. I find it fascinating the way they would color tint the film. Only the very wealthy could probably afford this sort of thing in their personal library!

  • Facinating. And this was 48 years before the Disney version if I'm not mistaken.

  • @MDthornton83 ,

    Yes you're right.

  • Ugh this is too creepy for me. D;

  • 3:34 alice is ugly ~!

  • @rozi12341 If you've read the book, she's not exactly cute in the illustrations either. :P

  • @ShyBoy6D9 She's so cute in the illustrations! Her hair is a little eh, but she's absolutely adorable! No idea how you could think otherwise.

  • @kenzieechristinee She just looks grumpy all the time without it seeming like she was meant to. Oh well. Regardless, agree to disagree.

  • this is annoing !

  • @rozi12341

    Your comments are annoying.

  • It's a shame so damaged. I'm looking fowward to a day when they shall develop a way to correct that.

  • WOW! its not even in sound! cooool!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2think we r watching dead ppl who 100 yrs ago were really popular artist 2 making this movie.

  • intersting secrets in the world so small then so big and they stll keep coming the biggist secret is still yet to come

  • What??? Where is Johnny Depp! I cannot believe the marketed this film as having Johnny Depp in it and he isn't! Grrr....

  • I really liked the cards costumes. I wonder if the alice character was dressed in the fashions of the time that the film came out or the time that the book was based?

It is nice to see the begining of special effects lol

  • Alice is like 40 lol

  • the scene with the cards' procession is beautiful!

  • amazing!

  • The piano music while Alice was in the woman's house with the baby was marvelous. Is there anywhere you can find this soundtrack?

  • @rezgol I believe that is the Dutchess's house. We did a play based on the original story :)

  • They actually managed to get a cat that frowns, unbelievable...

  • No seu tempo, maravilhoso!! Imagino a dificuldade, na produção, mas tudo começou aí.

  • wow, ive always thought the story was screwy, but cool.... but watching this 100 yr. old video of it.... the verry 1ST 1..... it like, emphasizes those feelings....

  • This is so freaky yet so amazing at the same time...

  • Comment removed

  • The White Rabbit looks like a llama!

  • OMG the cat is almost sleeping

  • yes even watching a 100 year old version, this story is still... bizzare

  • at 1:00 alices hair looked like beard lol)

  • Vi ao longe uma asa de prata em extremo silêncio.

Enquanto uma inebriante geração sucumbi meu contato visual foi sorte.

Mas meu sentir, minha iluminação foi um milagre secreto.

  • Is there reason in rhyme? watch?v=vUquwphutXo

  • Not to be cruel I enjoy watching the film because everyone in there passed away but left a small window ajar to peek through to show how they lived. Live life to the fullest. :)

  • HEY! HEY! HEY! GUESS WHAT! everyone in this movie is DEEEEEEEAAAAAAD!

    >:D

aw man the cats dead D:

  • yo what happened to the dog part? it was like only 3 seconds long :l

  • @foxgirl47 That part of the film was destroyed

  • @DogzROQ damn...

why is this film in such crappy sape? like what happened to this film that made it so damaged?

i dont know nothin bout old films >.<

  • @foxgirl47 Film was literally in rolls, so a small scratch can damage it. Since this is the only copy, the film was most likely handled and stored for so long that it began to deteriorate. Imagine trying to keep a piece of paper that you use often for 100 years without it getting ripped and crumpled.

  • @DogzROQ shape*

  • Amazing considering the age of the film. The costumes were very much right on based on the illustrations. I for one like the pet Maine Coon cat they used for the Cheshire Cat. Thanks for sharing that!

  • And the award for the most miserable portrayal of the cheshire cat ever goes to.....

  • Hahahahah I actually laughed so hard at that cat. Ohwell, it was MUCH more difficult to do fancy things in movies back then.

  • Hard to believe this was before any World wars, the Titanic etc.

  • @DanikaJadeee well.. it's not. it's fake. it's not form 1903. more like 2009-2010

  • @WHOTHAFUCK Dumbass

  • @DanikaJadeee this was actually when the Wright brothers patented the first functional airplane.

  • WAS THIS REALLY MADE OVER 100 YEARS AGO CAUSE IF SO THATS SO COOL BUT IF NOT U MAKE SAD OW BUT THIS IS KINDA CREEPY

  • I enjoyed this immensely but no matter how many times I watch it

the playing cards look like the KKK and when they chase Alice I have freak a little

  • HA ALICE was not a blonde!

  • How wonderful to have this treasure to share with the world! Thank to all who work hard to preserve and restore film worth saving and share its history as well.

  • their*

  • @MikEhaWk6009 A lot of people like this movie so HAHA ;o

  • O.o wow

  • DUDE the cat are they serious?

  • That big ass bunny is going to give me nightmares. Great silent film though:)

  • VERY creative for its time. How DID they do the shrinking Alice thing back then? This was a long time before the green screen was done.

  • @TheBookWorm1718 I think she was just walking backwards. xD

  • great CGI effects!!

  • kidding! this is cooler than burton's

  • @EleDErre totally agree!

  • 8:28 axe guy lol

    Made before tweezers apparently.

  • that is one big ass bunny

  • ARTUR É INCRIVEL AS CIDADES NÃO FORAM DESTRUIDAS. É PRATICAMENTE IMPOSSÍVEL DE EXPLICAR OU COMPRIENDER . UM MILAGRE ATEMPORAL

. ARTUR ESTOU COM MEDO E ALEGRIA. PERMETIRIA DEUS ESTE FATO.

  • thats one ugly alice.

  • An interesting restoration is on my site

  • Haha it was an actual cat x)

  • I'm pretty sure this isn't originally 480p

  • black and white haha! reminds me of the ring! :))

  • whats this white shit on the screen?

  • They're all dead, but we can still see them. Weird.

  • @MenDrinkTea the magic of technology, we can still see hitler yet he's dead. As long as we're making a name of ourselves n got our face on TV or on the net, people can still see us.

  • What a treasure!

  • Books must've been super popular back then.

  • Nothing but LUV for that Cheshire Cat ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • it's so weird to see people from 1903, knowing they have been dead for such a long time. Always freaks me out to see photos or paintings of families from long ago.

  • This is incredible. Apologies if this has been commented on before, but why are the captions damage free?

  • amazing film. hard to believe that these special effects were created over 100 years ago just a few years after film was 'invented'!!!

  • wow, that means even the 1950's version is a remake.

  • growing and shrinking=Standing and sitting...

  • What the fuck is going on in this shitty film!!!!! Its hard to follow the story line!!! >:(

  • @lovejohnniebear24 ITS 1903 THEY DON'T HAVE FILM EFFECTS

  • @lovejohnniebear24 - What??? Did you not bother to read that the film is missing several minutes so no wonder it doesn't quite make sense. Whatever it's an extraordinary achievement.

  • 116 dislikes???

  • @JM13121 What about that number is baffling you?

  • @SwissDHD I don't know how people could dislike black & white film...It does not even have anything to do with the subject matter!

  • @JM13121 The like and Dislike feature plays to the content of the video, along with many other factors such as loading time, jealousy, title and description.

It might not be fare, but that's life.

    (and the internet)

  • @SwissDHD *Fair*

  • Drug trip... From start to finish.

  • 2:13 "Eat Me" LOL

  • Crappy as all the Alice stuff is ... but what do you expect from a book written by someone on heroin at the time.

  • @THELORDOFEXCESS Ok, woah, if you think all "alice" stuff is crappy, why are you here? second, Lewis Carrol was not, on drugs when he wrote this, he was a christian, and reverend, writing about the wonder a child's mind contains, that you lose when you grow up, and become mentally confined to "logic". Also, they did not havee heroin back then, so get your facts strait, alice is literary gold, ppl speak of drugs when they cant understand the true meaning of the story-Alice Enthusiast

  • @suburbanwarzone I was informed that he in fact, like many authors of his day, was in fact on opium. Is this true or not and could you link me to a source? thank you ! :) I was told Robert L. Stevenson, Oscar Wilde, Charles Dickens, Lewis Carrol, and more were opium (or laudinum) addicted. Keep in mind back then people didn't know the dangers of opium or cocaine and even Rx it to children.

  • @TheTravelfool Ok, well, first, i want to correct what I said above, Carrol's religion was NOT the main focus of his life. He was in poor health and had a stammering problem, his diaries have been published and there was NO mention of opium whatsoever, the most concerning thing he was accused of was pedophilia, but again in his own personal letters and diaries he wrote frequently of adult women with whom he had relations. Though much of his "art" did contain nude little girls,

  • @TheTravelfool . stupidly youtube won't let me post the links here I will inbox them to you

  • Tim Burton didn't do a remake ... get your facts straight troll ... lol. Shitty or not it wasn't a remake.

  • That cat isn't grinning...

  • I'm sure with digital editing nowadays they could restore this a lot better, each scene is still in a single place so parts where action and movement isn't occurong could easily be replaced which would improve the quality a lot

  • the Alice Game on iphone I have found. it is much more addictive

    search the "alice's wonderdream"

  • this is the Alice Game on iphone I have found. it is much more addictive

  • I Dont Know Why Everybody Dislikes Tim Burton's Alice I Thought It Was Great

  • this is freaky in a way........

  • The little card kids are adorable...but...

  • That rabbit is fucked up O.o

  • This is fucked up on lsd...fuckin' trip man

  • when i watched this for the first time i was like "wtf is she smoking?"

  • How times have changed over 109 years. No one has time to loaf and nap midday in one's garden these days!

  • @ziggycat999 you do if you are rich like alice!

  • And not a single fuck was given that day by Cheshire Cat.

  • notice how over time society has made her a blonde haired blue eyed gal. intriguing.

  • @shanniehead In this case though it was more to do with expediency. Director Cecil Hepworth did everything on the cheap casting himself as the frog footman, his wife as the white rabbit and the Hepworth company secretary,Mabel Clark was Alice herself!

  • Thats the best cheshire cat ive ever seen x :P x

  • @MinecraftDude133 your not alone

  • watch this film, then the new (est) one, wow, what a difference in a span of over a century

  • Lol, if you pause the video, you could see how much the film is damaged at points

  • furries: a problem since 1903

  • IF I remember correctly his notes and some of his drawings are in the British Museum. Wonderful place to visit. They have the Rosetta Stone(which the guard let me touch!), a Beatle's display, some Magna Cartas, a fantastic Egyptian exhibit in which one statue has a hole in it's head so the french(?) could drag it easier, etc., etc. and more. Alice was written as a political satir and not written for children. Thanks BF for sharing! :) Songs
