im a 20 year old woman and I think is absolutely breathtaking. Even more breathtaking is to see how far cinema has come today. It's great to see how cinema has evolved and I absolutely love this and how much effort evidently went into creating this silent film.
@Eternalgamers1 i don't see how CGI makes it any less of an art. Filmmakers back then had less to work with, but still made great movies. All CGI does is let you bring more of their imagination come to life.
@Asztonmartin because in reality its a movie about drugs....The author of the book did Magic Mushrooms and is also the reason why Alice is always eating them in the film
wow 1903, this is precious precious footage, if we dont have all these modern websites this wouldve been more valuable, think how much u cud sell it for
Just watched the 1933 version tonight with friends and went online to look for more. The baby in the kitchen scene in this version sure gets treated better than the one in the 1933 version! LOL! I enjoyed seeing this. Glad they were able to restore it.
I really like this. I don't like how people don't appreciate the stuff that DEFINED cinema--it's thanks to these movies that we have Transformers and all that other blockbuster shit.
WOW! Such an old good British film survived 100 years. It was longest movie in Britain (isn't it?). THAT'S WHY BRITAIN IS THE BEST! THANK YOU, BFI. THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME!
People its not from 1903. look at the way the people on the picture move. too many FPS. also, the simulated "Damaging" is obviously the work of some programm like Photoshop, Premiere or AfterEffects. Just believe me. You just have to stop the clip at some moments and look at the way the programm-tools have cut out certain pixels that match eatch other (thats how the "magic wand" of photoshop works too, for example).
Imagine that =) a 9 minute movie, and even that was long for those days. I find it fascinating the way they would color tint the film. Only the very wealthy could probably afford this sort of thing in their personal library!
The fact that this is like, the first 'Alice in Winderland' film ever, deserves a 5/5 from me. The Great Depression and WW2 weren't even happening yet, amazing.xD
I really liked the cards costumes. I wonder if the alice character was dressed in the fashions of the time that the film came out or the time that the book was based?
It is nice to see the begining of special effects lol
wow, ive always thought the story was screwy, but cool.... but watching this 100 yr. old video of it.... the verry 1ST 1..... it like, emphasizes those feelings....
Not to be cruel I enjoy watching the film because everyone in there passed away but left a small window ajar to peek through to show how they lived. Live life to the fullest. :)
@foxgirl47 Film was literally in rolls, so a small scratch can damage it. Since this is the only copy, the film was most likely handled and stored for so long that it began to deteriorate. Imagine trying to keep a piece of paper that you use often for 100 years without it getting ripped and crumpled.
