  • That's exactly how I scored my first goal in peewees

  • you mad john blum? 0:24

  • I miss him :/

  • speed is grossly overrated in the nhl

  • How could this be his first goal when it says he is the leading scorer. Dumbass.

  • @Y0UdunG00FED lol. It was the beginning of the season and no one else has scored yet. So with his 1 goal, he was the leading scorer.

  • @Y0UdunG00FED he's the leading scorer because he was the first one to score in that season.

  • @Y0UdunG00FED dude it was the first game of the season

  • Ok...so unless Mario was the only player in the NHL to shoot the puck that year this is NOT his 1st goal. Needs to be relabeled

  • @SSinc1981 what are you talking about? it was his first ever nhl game, and he scored on his first shot on net.

  • Crosby and Lemeiux get their first goals against the bruins

  • looked like the goalie was asleep then he heard lemieux & hes like "OH FUCK"

  • @NikeShoxerz

More like he heard Lemieux and then was like "Who?"

    Five seconds later.

    Oh.

  • that was the start to him ruining the bruins chances. son of a bitch!!!

  • Mario Lemieux: One of the greatest and most entertaining player ever.

  • fucking legend

  • ahaha beauty celebration

  • those first two strides at centre ice was remarkable for a big guy

  • eberles first goal is nicer

  • @OneBloodOneGame

Did Eberle rob one of the greatest defenseman of all time? Was it his first shot? First shift?

  • @TheAogGuy yea ok, look at the shit goal tending lemieux had to beat lol

  • @OneBloodOneGame

Goaltenders back then had better stats then they do today. Boston was a powerhouse back then. Eberle got a goal on a struggling flames team.

  • @TheAogGuy lol you are comparing those shit goalies to today? roflmfao

  • @OneBloodOneGame

Roy, Hextall, Hasek, Belfour, Fuhr, Curtis...

The ones today don't even compare.

+ If you look at the equipment they have to use...

  • @TheAogGuy lmfao you clearly are a retard to compare stand up goalies to butterfly goalies who have to go play against way better competition today even though teams are e venally balanced with the salary cap.

one more thing why was the gpg higher in those year s then? goalies dont compare? roflmfao yea tim thomas, rinne, lundqvist, carey price are no one dummy. tim thomas has proven hes just as dominate as as anyone of those. and fuhr is an overrated piece of shit

  • @OneBloodOneGame

First you're telling me the goalies back then are trash, now you're saying Thomas is as dominate as they are? And I just gave you a list of the goalies who dominated in a highscoring era. Also, just compare the equipment they had to use, that's all you need to see. If the pads were as big as today, those guys could post even better numbers then they did before. I gave you the elite of the past, you give me those ones today. The older ones are still better.

  • @TheAogGuy hasek belfour roy and cujo all played with the same equipment.....

  • @TheTeaBiskit

I know. I'm explaining to this guy those guys are better the ones today using worse equipment.

Did you bother to read the previous comments before trying to correct someone? I think not.

  • @TheAogGuy ya these dumbshits dont realize any of it cause they dont watch the fucking games. ive been watching since i was 2 and these guys had to play with not so "great equipment" while we have goalies like, not saying their not good, but we got goalies using fucking $200+ equipment while back then they used nothing. even without equipment, older goalies would of shred it up in the nhl. if goalies back then had equipment we have now then nhl players now wouldnt be doing as good.

  • @OneBloodOneGame dude are you fucking kidding me? goalies back then were good enough to win stanley cups without anyone else good on their team. hextall, roy, hasek, brodeur, belfour, osgood, Vanbiesbrouck(turned the panthers into a stanley cup running team), tugnutt, ETC!

  • @jeffhardy009wwe roflmfao

  • @OneBloodOneGame have you ever even seen any old hockey games from 90s or past? or researched their stats?

  • @jeffhardy009wwe seriously you are making me laugh unstoppably

  • @OneBloodOneGame ya good comeback

  • @OneBloodOneGame, I don't see the humour in someone making excellent points.

  • Bye Bye Bourque

  • ... and first interception too lol

  • True Fact ! Mario lemieux would have more points than wayne gretzky if only he did not suffer injuries or even played as many games as him.

  • @zakikise actually, thats the furthest thing from a fact! do u realize how many points lemieux would of had to accumulate in those missed seasons to even tie gretzky in points....he never woulda done it

  • @jfleming23 How in the world can you say that? What if Mario never reached his prime? If he hadn't, he would have passed Gretzky easily. In matters like this: this is just no way of knowing..

  • @jfleming23 Just ftr: Gretzky's points average is 1.92, Mario is second all-time with 1.88. I refuse to see how he could never have catched up to Gretzky if he played in as many games and had been injury-free all of the time.

  • @GermanRocket7 if mario was injury free he wouldnt loose any rhythm in his game and would be in the zone every game. not having to adjust. plus he played while having cancer treatment so yeah lemieux is better

  • lol first shot, first goal, first shift ... all against boston lmmfao

  • awesome moment!

  • hes gay. Long live jonas brother

  • Tazer did the same thing first shot first goal

  • Epic. First shot, first goal.

  • against raymond bourque if that isn't enough

  • so fricken appropriate that super mario scores on his first shift, first shot.

  • both mario and sid scored thier first goal against the bruins

  • MUST OF WENT TO HEAVEN everythings bright

  • First Game First Shift First Shot First Goal Amazing

  • that looked real tough haha

  • He scored his first goal on his first shift first shot and he took the puck away from hall of famer Ray Bourque

  • Haha Pete Peters Haha

  • year?

  • not a bad way to start a decent career. Mario is number one!

  • Lemieux sucked, Ovechkin is waaaay better!

  • @MrNumberNine9 Eat a dick douche bag

  • @MrNumberNine9 don't feed this troll ^^

  • im a diehard flyers fan. but i absolutely love mario. i have posters of him. but please... DO NOT COMPARE HIM TO CROSBY

  • @blasthockey86 who do you think got sid ready for the nhl?

  • @mysticcast doesnt make him as good as mario

  • Penguins own everything

  • its hilarious how crosby did the same thing against boston

  • I have no idea y but no one talks about Mario's speed .. he was one of the fastest and smoothest skaters .. how many times do you see him splitting the defense with just pure speed

  • @sooccer19 Lemieux's speed has been so underrated for years. Peter Bondra (Capitals) had once says after Lemieux took the puck and outrace him across the ice for the goal, " you'll never know how fast Lemieux really is until you chased after him".

  • @sooccer19 yea but Lemieux start to skate deep in his zone and took everyone one by surprise... even his teammates.

  • mario lemiou !

  • that wasnt his first goal!

  • i wish lemieux was still young and amazing and playing in the nhl(not that he isn't still amazing now)

  • Mario is a legend (from Russian fan)

  • how could that be his first goal if they said he was the top scorer

  • @dickinabox39 Maybe its the first game of the season dumbass : D

  • Pittsburgh would never have won two Stanley cups without Lemieux.

Ditto for the Bruins and Bobby Orr.

The Oilers won the cup without Gretzky. He didn't win with the other

teams he played for after the Oilers offed him to the Kings.

Not so with Mark Messier. He led the oilers to the Stanley Cup without

Gretzky and led the Rangers to their last Stanley cup.

If most career points means you are the greatest of all time, then

Michael Jordan doesn't qualify as the NBA's greatest.

    Capeche.

  • Wow I don't want to like the top rated comment by @trevrulez54 because it has 66 likes xD. Coincidence? I think not.

  • made Bourque look like Grebeshkov!!

  • Gretzky has more assists than anyone else has points. Nuff' said.

  • nice

  • Sick Celly

  • Comment removed

  • fucking amazing

  • Fix your god damn video graphics, all the yellow made me think he was on the Bruins, yet he scored it against them. Whatever. Bobby Orr is still the best player of all time.

  • @coolguy02536 dude u have to be the biggest fagget in the world

    congrats

  • yeah, haha......no.

  • @coolguy02536 The graphics are washed out a bit, but the Penguins wore black and yellow at the time, not black and gold.

  • Can't beleive he was ever that young.

  • Already the leading NHL scorer?

  • @Ruinedbad First game of that season for any team, i had to think about that to....he was just the first one to score that season

  • @orangatangyachtz Yea i know that i just thought i could poke a lil joke about him scoring alot :P

  • @Ruinedbad It was the first game of the season

  • @CWB2208 yea i know i just thought i could poke a lil joke in there

  • mark parrish's first two shots were his first two NHL goals. and Mario is SO good

  • @trevrulez54 not rly lol

  • and that was not the last...........

  • @Robanjanee ...pff well no shit

  • Greatest of all time but sickness had to stop him!

  • Excellent quality.

  • lemieux is fucking great

  • mario lomio XD

  • Through all of Lemieux's adversity he still remained one of the best. He suffered from so much pain (back pain) due to genetics and had cancer I felt bad for him. He wanted to be the best but was only playing at 25-50% of his potential which is scary, imagine him at 100% health. Lemieux would have beat Gretzky's 51 game point streak but had to stop at 46 due to back pain. Mario was awesome, I cant wait to see the alumni game on the 31st that will be something special.

  • ...and then he became the most overrated player ever.

    troll.

  • @07foxmulder He managed to score almost as many goals as gretzky, and maintain a 46 game streak with a little over half the playing time. Are we looking at the same guy here? You are the X Files fan, you should be a bit logical, huh? Lol

  • First game, first shift, first shot... first goal.

  • mario was better than pussy boy wayne, better pure goal scorer, better goalies, and gretz had great teammates and no player could even breath on him without getting a major penalty

  • And a star was born...

  • he is the type of player ovechkin is just in a different league but they do have some similarities

  • sort of a different reaction than with his last goal don't you think :D

  • Nice

  • Baby lemeiux

  • One of the many reasons that Lemieux pwns Gretzky is that Gretzky had five years on Him and he was playing against stand up goalies not butterfly goalies imagine what numbers Lemieux would of put up if he had five years playing against stand up goalies.

  • @ballfan25

That's an ignorant comment, go watch the 'Lemieux 5 goals 5 ways' clip and watch these non-butterfly goalies playing for the Devils, and that event happened on Lemieux 5th season in the league.

  • The reason why this will be the greatest first goal scored is because its the first time he touched the puck in his NHL life

  • Wow, I spot Rick Kehoe :D

  • the best hocky player that ever lived.........hands down !!!! SUPER MARIO !!!!!

  • the best hockey player that ever lived....hands down !!! SUPER MARIO !!!!

  • Please do not adjust your contrast, the brightness is due to MARIO!!! Well i am a Oiler fan and Mario the best....it's like comparing Ovi and Crosby each is better at something which distinguish's each of them. Greatzky was pure magic though, no other player saw or thought the game like him. Mario was more of a dominant force kind of like a OvI. Apples and oranges. In the end there is only one point leader and goal leader, Gretzky.

  • This was his very first shot on his very first shift in the NHL.

  • @trevrulez54 (1)st goal (1)shift (1)st overall draft pick. Number (1) player in NHL History, Mario Lemieux

  • @trevrulez54 im not a hawks fan,but so did johnothan toews.but i like both ,so i think that would be pretty cool

  • @trevrulez54 stealing the puck from the best defenseman in the league

  • @trevrulez54 that's insane

  • last time I checked Gretzky wasn't the one taking the best defenseman in hockey to school it was Mario

  • @RAM9119 best d-man in hockey aka Ray Bourque

  • @mothercanuckers he is good!! i would have to consider Lidstrom ahead of him tho and Niedermayer is a close 2nd.. he's done more with his career then Bourque.. took him the last year to win a cup! he never really led a team to victory! i know its hard for a dman to do that but...

  • @RAM9119 in that era from about 1986 up to 1996 I think Ray Bourque was unquestionably the best dman in the league he led Boston to 2 cup finals although they did lose he was the man who was carrying the team no 1 man can win a cup by himself it never happened before and it never will Gretzky didn't win on his own neither did Messier, Lemieux, or Yzerman.

  • @mothercanuckers brian leetch, chris chelios, rob blake and ray bourque i think are all in same league! in their prime that is.. chelios wasnt that great near the end of his career lol... al macinnis as well... i unno, lots of good dman in the 80's 90's..

  • @RAM9119 I agree that those guys had years where they really shined but I think over the entire period playing 2-ways that Bourque was the best Leetch had offense and Chelios and Blake were real physical presences but I always put Bourque on a pedestal above those guys he could do it all and do it all well consistently.

  • @RAM9119 Al MacInnis was great too but I still think Bourque was better

  • @RAM9119 paul coffey.......

  • @krazytsi yes i forgot him haha.. i know thats harsh to say, but he slipped my mind lol

  • Lemieux scored his 500th goal in Boston and the Bruins fans gave him a standing o

  • @TAG037 it was against the islanders, not the bruins dude

  • Comment removed

  • @metaltodeath888 Bruins!!! watch theirs a vid on youtube of it... "Sidney Crosby's first goal"

  • kinda lame and boring sportcaster isnt it?

  • first of many

  • he was so young...... legend

  • This goal basically says LEGEND.

  • Mario lemiuex in ten times better than Wayne Gretzky, Gretzky had such good teams after he left they still won cups

  • @Blackhawksfan1993

Funny thing, after Lemieux retired the Pens won the cup too.

  • @TheGreatOneNo99 ohh. lol i didnt realize :P

  • @TheGreatOneNo99 The Pens also had to be quite frankly an absolutely diabolical/lucky team to get the draft picks to build their team.

  • @Blackhawksfan1993 no ones better than gretzky

  • @Blackhawksfan1993 ten times? WTF... I wasnt around back then to watch the oilers dynasty but growin up in edmonton i know for a fact that that whole team was playin off his talents. he was KING. its like ovie vs crosby.. in the end crosby is better cause hes won more, i dont give a shit who hes playin with. ill take gretzky on my team before lemieux but maybe thats alberta bias..

  • @shotty2222 lmfao crosby is not better than ovy, born in 93' and not being able to watch pavel bure, i can safely say ovy is the purest goal scorer ive ever watched play the game..

  • @Blackhawksfan1993 LOL i was born in 93 too... never got to see bure and i can agree that ovie is the best pure scorer along with heatley that ive ever seen. but what else does ovie do? score goals and thats it. if he hits a cold streak hes fucking useless.. crosby can play defense, play on the pk and all that stuff when hes cold. better all around player=better player. goal scoring isnt all, little things in hockey matter the most.

  • @shotty2222 Ovy hits.... type in ovy hits im sure u will see him shitting on some the leagues best players, what does crosby do, go to the bench and cry when he gets hit... and ovy is an amazing back checker if u ever watch a game

  • @Blackhawksfan1993 yeah exactly, ovie hits a lot of guys. and what does that do? puts a big ass fucking target on his back. a lot of guys out there want to end this guys career. dont mistake me for a crosby fan cause i aint but hes the better player. russia arguably had as good a team as canada (except defense) and we still fucking killed them. ovie chokes. hes like joe thornton.. hes great in the reg season but sucks big fat cock when it matters.

  • @shotty2222 lmao ovy always seems to get 5 goals-a-series in the playoffs, dont say he sucks

  • @shotty2222 and who cares if hes putting a target on his back it proves his will to win, hes not out there to lose.. he will do anything it takes to win...

  • @Blackhawksfan1993 hes obviously not very good at it LOL. look at what crosbys won...

  • @Blackhawksfan1993 dumbie

  • @Blackhawksfan1993 10x times better

lol ur a moron. gretzky has 60 records. how many does lameiux have?

lol gretzky did things lemiuex could only dream of doing bitch

  • @Blackhawksfan1993 Mario Lemieux was better than Gretzky (maybe not 10 times better...), but Gretzky was fortunate to not incur any long-term injuries, while Lemieux wasn't so lucky, and it hampered his still impressive career.

  • @relam13 you cant say he was better... like wtf.. their point per game numbers are almost iddentical.

  • @Blackhawksfan1993 maybe not ten times better, but i agree, gretzky did play on some stacked teams. messier, kurri, not to mention once he left those stacked oilers teams he never won a cup again. messier did. but anyways lemieux skill wise and leadership wise i think may be better than gretzky. if not for all the injuries, 66 may well be the number retired from the entire league.

  • I heard from somewhere that he scored on his first shift (in this shift, shown here in this clip on Youtube), but, I didn't realize that he also scored on his first shot attempt on net in the NHL (and, in having done so, subsequently thereafter, became that NHL season's leading scorer at that point in time).

  • he scores on his first nhl shot. amzing

  • does anyone know what year is that??

BTW: penguins 66 and 68 - best pair ever (proved by 2 stanely cups in the first 2 seasons)

  • 0:25 announcer said Mario Lemieux is "now the leading scorer in the NHL"

  • @BobbleZilla yeah he was the first player to score that season

  • @BobbleZilla because it was the first game of the 1984 nhl season

  • Awesome,,probably number 1 or 2 all time. He never had decades of all stars & goal tending throughout his career. He did have lymphoma, significant spinal stenosis on multi-levels , & radiation treatment. Managed to win a few cups & financially save a franchise by staying committed to a city & organization that could not compensate him. 66 Forever

  • Lol first shot, first game, and first shift. The makings of a legend and sure enough. we have Lemieux

  • now gretzky can u see him getting one good clean/dirty hit, picture the hits on toews and savard. ones dirty ones clean (hes not gettin up like toews, hes dead if he got hit as hard as savard(jus kiddin) i dont see anyone that skinny playing in todays nhl but i think he would avg. 2.30 ppg on a healthy season maybe 75pts a season give or take a few. they were both good once upon a time we can agree on that

  • @sickermorestyle uhm 2.30 ppg is a fuck load more then 75 pts ... i hope u no that theres 82 games in a season since you know so much about hockey

  • ok lets all wonder how gretzky and mario would do in todays nhl..........lets think.....ok mario was great but i see him getting hurt in todays nhl maybe a concussion or knee etc he was a pretty big guy but lost fights (lol) maybe avg. 2.24. ppg give or take a few, everybody gets hurt and maybe still get 70 pts a season(maybe)

  • Nobody in the league today can even come close to handling the puck like that.

He was the best of all time.

  • scores on his first shot of his first shift of his first game

  • Without Gretzky, the Oilers would have still won their cups. Without Lemieux, there wouldn't even be pro hockey in Pittsburgh let alone stanley cups!!!! Its not all about numbers when comparing the two. All I can say is Gretzky had Messier, Kurri, Anderson, Coffey and a lot of other talented teammates EARLY in his career. Who did Lemieux have?

  • @Hoakie27

None of the players you named were in the NHL (except Messier) when Gretzky came into the league and won his 1st MVP and tied for the lead in scoring. None of the players you named got more than 75 pts on Gretzky's second season when he broke the assists and points records (109 assists, 164 pts) while winning the scoring race by 29 pts and earning the MVP again.

Mario debuted his career playing with a guy that scored 51 goals the year before, Gretzky didn't have that chance.

  • @Irato99 As i stated, Gretzky had a lot of help from future hall of famers EARLY in his career, as in his first five or six seasons! In response to the 51 goal scorer Mike Bullard the season before Lemieux arrived, I never noticed his name on a hall of fame ballot! Most people can't even name another player on the roster until Coffey and Barrasso arrived in 87-88(Lemieux's fourth season) and 88-89 respectively!!!
