Ed managed to sell out his three best friends by signing a contract that put him as the sole controller of the band's publishing company and started demanding outlandish things like a $100,000 "lead singer bonus" to appear at some concerts. That is why LIVE is no more.
'Everybody who stood up for love' he says. That means -everybody- my friend.... You don't need to be the leader of a certain religion to stand up for love. They aren't all on the same level, but they do have 1 thing in common: They stood up for love...
I thought Adi Da stood up for his wallet and penis, hiding away on Fiji with a bunch of lawsuits. I have looked at him and his work and he has very little knowledge and it's all about his ego. When he's not making it up as he goes along, Adi Da will try to quote a verse from the Bhagavad Gita and mispronounce all kinds of words. Adi Da "claims" he "controls the planets" but he can't even control his own bladder. What a fucking fake! Ed's for real though:). Love Ed.
Call it ego, call it fake, songs like this bring up the best in people. I hardly know the dude singing this song, I DO know the effect of this song. That's all I'm saying...
Unfortunately, no...Ed was a disciple of Adi Da. He wrote TDTH during that period and I am pretty sure that at least Dance with You, is about him if not the entire album. I think Ed sees the light now and I give him credit for "searching" as his conclusions r not those of Adi Da.
I have no idea why this video's comments has a battleground about whether or not Live's sold out... but to all those who say they -have- sold out, have you ever actually listened to the lyrics in those songs from 1991? Same message there as 1999 as now. That never changed, only the development of the music.
Personally, I'm not fond of where Live has gone these past 10 years. Each album, I like fewer songs than the one before. But they stay true to themselves, and I have to respect that.
I just appreciate their music and think Ed sings with more passion coming out of his pinky than most artists have in their entire bodies. Plus every time I go to a show there is so much love in the air it is amazing! So thank you +Live+ for having such a positive affect on me and so many others! That is why I am still a fan.
To all those people who are saying they're a cop out or they aren't the band they used to be because they got rich and famous and out of touch...did you ever stop and think these guys are using that fame to spread a message? No matter what style of music, this message has been running through all their albums, if you listened hard enough you'd hear it. I think they are awesome whatever they do, because they create music with true heart. Only the true musicians can understand that.
Just because music has a deliberately positive message doesn't mean it is "bad". This is coming from someone who listens to everything from Tori Amos to Marilyn Manson. Good music is creative and innovative, catchy and surreal, and always inspiring. I feel like Live's new stuff is just as good as their old stuff. It is definitely a different approach and tone, but good none the less.
As a Live fan it pains me to see what they have become. They used to be just a pure rock band and then all the sudden they started to sing songs about rainbows, fluffy animals, and smiling faces. It just seems like they sold out big time by creating songs like this. This is not the Live that burst onto the scene, this is a watered down example of what happens when you become rich and forget about the music that got you in the business
If you know anything about Live and Ed Kowalczyk you would know that they are/used to be about spreading a message of acceptance, love, and personal responsibility, and spirituality to the people. This song is part of that message he is trying to send.
It was never only about the rock. Try to understand the lyrics from all their songs from the beginning to now.
His music has changed as he has evolved as a person.

Never about the rock?..that's what put them on the map. Not this over-produced crap. I mean, com'on "who put the flower in the barrel of that gun? WHO PUT THE FLOWER?!" Are you kidding me? These guys are just a corny, lame-ass christian rock band now...sellouts. I mean, I'm sure they're good guys and all, but...they stink.

Wow I like where your head is at brads9, those are some good points and I agree with you. I think if Live from 1991 (when they released Mental Jewerly) met Live from 1999 (when they released this nonsense) I would bet that Live from 1991 would beat them up or something
i think you misunderstood me. i don't think LIVE is a sellout. i was commenting back to brads9 (comments above). live is one of my favorite bands and i'm am not opposed to their "style" change as they have matured as a band.
Hah, I actually like the album version of this song a lot, but if you think this is bad, check out anything from two albums later "Songs from Black Mountain." Just awful.
Live is and always will be one of my favorite bands but...Fuck Ed,what a fucking d-bag!I'm ashamed of the fact that I ever liked him.

P.S. if you no longer like their music, go listen to their old music. Has the same messages. Just less MATURE. :)
