Very nice. I like it. Music could have been a bit more upbeat. So? You can't get into those observation towers anymore? Or anywhere near the ny pavilion? looks like it's fenced off:-(
Most people tend to live in the past or the future, not knowing that in the present and being aware that you are in the moment is when you create your future.something so simple yet most people dont know this. Its called the present because it is a gift from God!
Excellent. Yep, the World's Fair. I'm glad to have been able to visit the observation towers when the Fair was in operation, as a child. Shame it's fallen to ruin and can't be accessed now.
@Cobra11Star since this video was taken the fences have been taken down from around the pavillion, but there is a permenant fence around the towers. If you are lucky there are some times when the parks department needs voulenteers to help out inside the pavillion and they take anyone they can get, so thats the only way to get into the pavilion. As for the towers no one is ever gona be able to get up to the towers because they have been deemed unsafe for the public.
WOW! This is so inCREDible, AVDJ! You are a true master, in words and visual wonders! ~I could listen to your voice all day.. you should be a recording artist of some kind..a Books-on-tape reader!
Beautiful videeo! You always make the simplest things so meaningful! ~ Featured!*****=)
I can not tell you how much this movie REALLY changed my life. It reminded me the serious importance and potential of getting out of the past and future and and living in the NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks a million! It's empowering! Amazing how you forget. Thanks for reminding me to live!
Those that forget the past are destined to repeat it...
History is cool. I like learning about history. I think people "conveniently" lose track of their place in time. It makes easy excuses for shortcomings in the present...
very cool and inspiring! I think we have a similar taste when it comes to buildings rotting away. I love old factory buildings and so on, like from the beginning of the 20th century. a morbid charm. some things look better when they start rusting.
awesome I can see it now lol. I heard that it had something to do with that it would play but ONLY in high quality mode (?). Anyway, I'm glad i can see it now. Thanks man you are awesome! I might hire you as the narrator of my life story. :D Jess
ah okay, I was worried it was my computer!! I had to find out if anyone else was getting the unavailable message. I wonder what it is? I has to be a YouTube glitch. Thanks my friend :D Jess
yet another wondrous meditation. what an eye you have for the beauty of these old "futuristic" structures, what a mystical, musing mind. where am i? and when? here and now- and then *and* there! here enjoying thoroughly your art and craft, so happy for the opportunity to respond to you again as an artist & also responding viscerally to these images as a lifelong lover & former citizen of nyc... simultaneously flashing back to a limpid day in 1964, i am 10 yrs old and thrilled to be at the fair!
AVDJ you have a wonderful way of getting out your message:))) Time is a funny thing, there are so many distractions around us we often lose track. If we could wake up each day and live it like it was the first day of our lives our choices would be so different from the ones we make now.
Going in circles, your vision improves. BTW, just three years later, in 1967, your dad treated me to the Worlds Fair in Montreal, Canada. Seeing your presentation takes me back to those timeless moments. We went up and down the East Coast, to New York, Phily and DC, during the summer of my first year in junior high. Thanks for the memories, Scott.
Thanks for the video, AVDJ. At 14 years of age I went to the New York World's Fair with my school concert band and we performed. One ride I went on at the fair was the Carousel of Progress. Disney used animated figures to convey how technology in the 20th century has changed in the US. 22 years later, I was delighted to discover Disney World had the original Carousel. So as an adult I sat down in the Carousel again and, in a way, re-lived my youth. " It's a great big beautiful tomorrow..."
The perspective you frame so perfectly in video, but what you said here, was more profound! It is something to take time to wonder about, as it passes we gain from it, to enjoy the right now! Superb as always!
the shooting and editing is so exquisite - I went crazy when the color came in and the cool way you married the image and audio. The soundtrack is super cool, I love all the distortion looping in and out. Your message is fantastic too. I will have to watch it again. I LOVE what you are doing. I think your videos are a merger of essay and art. And they just keep getting better. Beautiful final shot! :)
yes the visions of the 60s were great but they were quashed by the government and small minded greedy people-hopefully today the young people can be inspired to new visions and heights....tooth
Extremely powerful vid AVDJ! As I listened to your soothing voice & words my emotions jockeyed between acceptance and angst and my mind was sent reeling like the dial on my electric meter. I'm so very grateful for having had a rich past and I have high hopes for a peaceful future but it's the luxury of having a "right here, right now" that is most encouraging. As always, thanks for sharing your thoughts...they matter! xox
I love the way you expressed your point of 'view' with your pictures and words. Truly beautiful. What's 'behind'or 'before' you depends on the acceptance of your role here and NOW. We could be Fair by consuming less, being happy with what we have...
We seem to stray away since there are too many distractions. We don't even have time to think for ourselves. We have followed others so much that we don't trust our own choices....
Great work AVDJ! Outstanding visuals, poetic wisdom, time and space notions, watching both the past and futur on this very special moment on earth..Yea that make's us wonder what this day may reserve for us?... Merci and so excellent for the day!

since when is there a stair outside the observation towers?
Cobra11Star 1 year ago
@Cobra11Star this was back in 2008 when they were doing work on it, the stairs are gone now.

@trainboyrob Oh OK thanks! Why is there a fence? Why isn't it allowed to go into the pavilion or the observation towers?
Cobra11Star 1 year ago
@Cobra11Star I think the infrastructure is compromised. It probably can no longer support the weight of a person.
