Im not quit sure, what the Foxrox Retrofit does. Would it eliminate the standard problem with wah wahs and a fuzz face? If you're familiar with that. All i can read on their homepage is that it maintains the full sweep of the wah ..
hmm, this is the first time I see a real difference between a Full Tone and a Vox. I htink the Clyde worths it's price, but I do think a Vox has a cost/benefict ery good. And also there's MODs for it that can improve this great wah a lot.
With all due respect Vox doesn't even make their wah's the same way they did 5 years ago let alone making them the same way they did when they made the one's Hendrix used. That's the reason Fulltone's, Teese's and vintage Voxes dominate among Pro players. Comparatively the Fulltone and Teese's are much closer to the Vint.Voxes than current Voxes and price wise the'yre reasonable compared to the "real deal". Keep in mind The FT's and Teese's are also fine tuneable to suit your taste.
The difference in sound doesn't justify the difference in price. Since those pedals were modified, it doesn't really help me make a choice. Nice video and nice licks. Thanks.
Those wahs sound real well man. I have a crybaby and the sweep is just piercing to my ears. I turn down the tone on the guitar (american strat) and its sweep is better, but it has hardly any tone due to the tone pot being turned down to about 3. I'm using a Fender Pro Reverb amp (IDK if that matters). If I get one of these wahs, will the sweep be better, or can i replace something in my crybaby to make the sweep better? Thanks!
My crybaby (JH-1 series) has a messed up switch... it only half turns on or off sometimes (just cuts the signal completely often)... does anyone know how to fix that?
What it is - the switch isn't high enough to get a full contact with the treadle. There are TWO "nuts" on the switch. Undo the one on the outside of the unit and take the switch out. Rotate the inner "nut" about a 1/2 turn (making the thread pattern longer) and reinstall into wah. Give that a try and let me know if you are still having problems.
I must say that Foxrox is amazing! I may have to get one myself. I also play a Clyde Standard, I use two fuzz pedals. A 69 pedal also from Fulltone and the new MXR Classic 108 Fuzz because the buffer on the 108 gets rid of most of the ossalation, however it's for sale now! Finally, I will be able to use my 69 pedal with my wah! Great demo man, I'll be checking out some of your other videos for sure!
they are similar, because they are both modeled after the original vox clyde mccoy signature wah. the fulltone is better because it uses higher quality parts and it has the same halo inductor as the original. the vox does not. good video. diablo, even if you werent trying to compare the two, you did. so i thank you. i say the fulltone is better.
Okay - everyone seem to think this video is about one wah vs. another - well - it's not. This video's purpose is to show how a wah interacts with a germanium fuzz face style pedal. I have TWO wahs because one does not have a buffer installed and one does. It just so happens that it's the Fulltone that has the buffer installed.
I like the v847 than the 847, it's got a nicer sweep to my ears. I like the Fulltone clyde too, but they're 2 different animals. And NO both of them can take like hard rock gain but not metal... The v847 for me sounds OK for metal but not the best.
Hey im seriously debating between getting a bad horsie 2, vox v847 and clyde fulltone, but i live in the UK. SO i would have to pay shit loads if i ordered the fulltone clyde deluxe it is my dream, it would proberly be like £150 for postage and everything. IS it worth it. And could i possibly have your MSN so i could have some more samples, and how does this cope high gain?
If you want a wah for gain, you want a Wizard Wah (I use one). Get one from aire guitars (search on google for their ebay store). If you want the vintage vox sound, you could always wait until they get Picture wahs in, or get one from guitarexperience, but it costs a bit more than the teese.
Hendrix used an italian made clyde. also known as the v846. No pedals on the maket get it right, not even the vox's. the fulltone clyde gets close, but your best bet is to buy a v847 and the put a fulltone ICAR pot in it and a Halo inductor replica. That will get you very close to the tone you seek. Do some research. Google Vox V847 mods. Check out diystompboxes dot com.
Not true. The original Clyde and V846 are completely different pedals - The circuitry was drastically changed. Another good choice is a RMC Picture Wah.
No, the V847 was released relatively recently. The V848 even more so. He used an original Clyde McCoy, Italian made for the Thomas Organ Company, I believe. Nothing Vox currently produces comes even remotely close to replicating that sound, and the quality (or lack thereof) is shameful. (I hate mass-production wahs)
Does your clyde wah make a thumping sound when your wahing? In that when it touches the switch while wahing it makes a thump sound. So while wahing with some gain its like wah thump, wah thump, wah thump. Mine is doing that and wanted to know if yours does the same.
never been able to get the voodoo child sound intro with all my wah pedals,, i have,,morley bad horsie,,standard crybaby,,boss v wah,,,so i bought the v848 knowing hendrix used it,,,but still no luck,,you any ideas why this is???? thanks.....
Hendrix used an original Clyde McCoy wah - worlds apart from the new Vox wahs. Try an RMC Picture wah; that'll get you there, or a Fulltone Clyde. Analog Man has a few good things to say on the matter: analogman[dot]com/mccoy[dot]htm. Good luck in your wah search :)
It's not, really. It's a hint of Clyde McCoy, but it's nowhere close, and the build quality and components are typical mass-production. Fulltone and RMC are hugely better - the clyde and Picture wah do indeed sound great.
I'm hopefully getting a Clyde Deluxe when i go to the states in February, along with a Mesa/Boogie Roadster. The Vox Clyde is however closer to the original than the V847, and has true bypass at least.
Nice :). Some day I shall get myself a Mark IV and a Lone Star, but not yet. I wish they were cheaper over here though. It's true, it's a bit closer. I chose the Teese over a Dunlop/Vox (Wizard, but I could have got a picture wah), simply because Dunlop wahs are about twice the price that they are in the states, and therefore about the same. I'm interested in the (Fulltone) Clyde though - It sounds like a good pedal.
The Fulltone has more range of sweep, true bypass and a much better pot than a stock Vox v847. The tone of the Fulltone is also a bit thicker and more vocal due to the custom inductor. They're both good pedals, though.
i have a vox and a clyde but on my clyde i can make sound like a vox

VOX made the first ever wah-wah pedal, the standard version worked wonders for Jimi Hendrix!

Get a "NEW" Carling 316-PP DPDT Switch (They're on eBay for about $13) - and install it - it's super easy. And it will make the pedal True-Bypass.
