@mark28105 You do understand that when a gator "stands up" it's still on all fours right? They don't walk on their hind legs. So, since they have relatively short legs for the size of their bodies, most of their "height" would be due to the girth of their body.
@Lanephotography222 I know that. It's just when he said the gator was 3ft tall, he said that's how big around he was. He should have either said same goes for the width or just of somehow been more specific. I shouldn't have written that comment because I don't really mean what I wrote. That guy to me just sounded really unintelligent. That's all. I actually have quite a bit of family that live down there but weren't born there, not that I care.
Lol. Gators aren't known to attack humans. where are yall from? You come anywhere near the wrong water hole and youre gone! Even the "little" 6-7 footers will getcha. Im really suprised this big boy hasnt got someone yet. It'd make a hell of a pair of boots though!!!
@geffrod well wherever your from, there are probably fuckin faggots like you who think that Texas Is all desert and full of cowboys. Texas is right next to Louisiana and Mexico. And most of the people here are more than ready to defend themselves from ignorant bastards like you
Someone is going to get killed by it.They are wild and can not be tamed. They should kill it as soon as possible. That gator is not scared of humans and it's only a matter of time tell a tree hugging hippie will get to close to it oh wait don't kill it maybe it will have a purpose now.
The American alligator, Alligator mississippiensis, once on the verge of extinction, has made a tremendous come-back over the past 30 years. In 1969, Texas provided complete protection for the American alligator and classified it as endangered after passage of the Texas Endangered Species Act in 1973. Under this protection, the species has made a full recovery and was delisted from the status of endangered in 1985.

looks like texans are going to be forced to their brains to defend themselves without pulling out their pseudo penis gun. pretty large task for a state filled with people that are supposedly more evolved than a creature that was around during the era of the dinosaurs.

@Veng3r your only half right about the danger because they can attack but if you stay away from their habirat you'll be fine. the alligators were their first after all.
I can not believe the local authorities told everyone NOT to hunt the bloody thing!
All it's gonna take for them to see just how TOTALLY stupid a statement that was. Is for somebody to stop there one night to have to take an emergency leak and become instant gator chow.
do rednecks have to kill everything that lives? jeez, the fucking thing isn't a threat to anyone EXCEPT the rednecks that want to kill it. I bet it makes your penis hard just thinking about killing a large creature that spends it day walking between two bodies of water, spending most of its time basking in the sun.
People in Southern states that hold large amounts of gators have them in their yards and swimming pools quite frequently.I agree though a 12 foot gator is actually huge for an American Alligator.
Im sure there are some huge gators crawling around in the swamps that nobody has ever even seen. They have so many gators in Florida that it wouldnt matter if they were hunted year round,it still wouldnt hurt the population.
They get bigger. Male gators can reach 16-17 feet in length though they had a rare few reach 20 feet, making them equal to Nile and Indopacific crocodiles in size. Too bad we americans have a bad habit of killing them before they can get that big.
Do you morons even know how long 12 feet is?Apparently not or you wouldnt say its not big,its big enough to eat you.And Im sure it weighs every bit of 1000 pounds.
I was thinking the same thing. 12 foot's a decent size for a gator though and hopefully noone will try to carve a trophy out of it's hide. Hopefully he/she will reach the larger ranges for gators.
stupid people alligators are from texas and lousiana idiots.

And when he stood up, he was about 3 feet tall. That's how big around he was. Yeah, people from Texas are real smart. :/

Oh and just for the record, you deluded alligator-huggers ARE woefully wrong by the way.
Here's a few prime cases for the more literate of you to investigate:
Man Survives Alligator Attack on Florida Golf Course
Alligator That Killed Jogger Found, Officials Say
Missing Boy, 3, Found in Florida Alligator's Jaws
Alligator Eats Dog In Middle Of Popular Tampa Park
No End To Gator Attacks In Florida
Get the BIG picture now? Sadly, I'm afraid that most of you won't until a gator gets YOU as well...
