  • I passed gas for three minutes sixten seconds.

  • Steve looks as though he has gas pains, classical or otherwise. I wish he would just lift a cheek, rip off a two-second fart with a wee little follow-up and then play the rest of the song with a smile on his face!

  • The O'le classic ''when the piece your playing is a bit difficult'' Well then just pull a face!!.....

  • I think Mason would've covered his ears and screamed "Where is the Passion?"

  • cool fist pump at 3:08

  • anyone know what album i could find this song on?

  • hate when fucking idiot people in the crowd try to clap along with a musician...throws you off, man

  • Chet Atkins said in a Guitar Player interview that Mason Williams' recording of Classical Gas didn't really have a time signature. Hard to tell if this version does or not (since Mood for a Day has about 30 signature changes discernable only to Steve). Sounds very nice, though I'm surprised he didn't unleash some fast fingerpicking.

  • I've listened to this for years but just recently found out that Mason Williams was the head comedy writer of the Smothers Brothers Show. Isnt it odd that a comedy writer wrote such a beautiful piece of music?

  • @SiberianMan2u

Steve Martin plays a pretty mean banjo

  • HOWE IS GOD

  • @Martinobeck Amen.

  • Amen.

  • best version

  • One of my favorite guitarist playing one of my favorite compositions. Am I dead?

  • I think it's great when an artist, and Steve is surely an artist, is impressed enough with someone elses work to pay tribute to them before even starting the song. Then to stay fairly committed to performing the song the way it was written is surely a form of flattery. I'm sure Mason Williams would look kindly on this performance and appreciate the man playing as much as the audience did.

  • @TheGunslinger5854 Steve Howe is a bit of a guitar hero, but the original is so much better

  • @TheGunslinger5854 you're absolutely right man.

  • I saw him solo in 94 and he did this!

  • yes! he was doing the same chords again!

  • 2:28 is the first chord of turn of the century

  • Great post, Steve Howe can play anything!! Check out Tommy Emmanuel, Classical Gas very fast, very entertaining.

  • Always loved this piece and he does a great rendering of it.

  • 2:10 are the chords of Clap

  • ahhahahahaha hello my friend !

I noticed it too when I learned CG

  • yeah he had me faked too

  • Neil Young did a nice cover bit on this tune too......

Always loved this tune......since I was a kid....

    Thx!!!!

  • He looks a bit like his son Virgil at times

  • It might be because of thet he is his dad :D

  • I just can't shake off how until the 80s or so Howe always looked like he had lipstick on... coupled with his crazy faces, watching him play is entertaining in more than one way.

  • Not a typical "stiff upper lipped" Brit, is he?

  • Hmmm....I guess he does look like he's straining to take a shit or something!...still a great player. If you like guitarists who pull faces, check out Pat Methenys videos.

  • You b******d!!!...i have watched four other videos of steve howe since reading your comment and all i can think of is him trying to have a shit!!! :)

  • Very cool - I love how he's taken a great tune and made it his own!

  • Lol at his face.

    But still a great song.
