The fact's are there, as you have never said what quad you have I can only assume that you have a 400ex and unless it's modified you stand no chance against a huge 2-stroke.
Take your maturity elsewhere, there will always be someone with a bike faster than yours. My friend has a modified blaster that eats 400ex's all day, I will be racing him sometime next week.
A 2-stroke trail boss is slow as hell? LOL get real, go try a big 2 stroke they cant keep the back end on the ground even over 45mph. We raced over 4 times and he tied me a couple times and he has an aftermarket pipe. I am sure I would really slaughter a stock 400ex.
You must realize that a comparible 4 stroke would be an 800cc versus my 400cc 2 stroke. After weight and clutch disadvantage it's no surprise I beat a 400ex.

Even though a comparinle engine would be an 800cc, it is a heavy utility with a centrifugal clutch. The 400ex is half the weight and I kept up or beat it. Essentially put my engine in your honda and you could possibly beat a 525.

Polaris used them in their quads for almost 10 years. Everyone moved to 4 strokes. The reason is that while two strokes make twice the power, they have half the reliability since they rev twice as fast. Also since two strokes make twice the power they burn twice the gas, it was also an emissions move.
Dont hate on old two strokes, stock or built ones will take you any day.
Whether it was or wasn't made for speed it's still a very fast utility atv. I get it to 60MPH (by GPS) easy and I could go higher but the bike becomes unstable due to a front misalignment.
BTW, that guy with the 400ex has two banshees modded to hell on race fuel i'm sure he cant drive.
I deal with dweebs like you all the time. All of them saying my bike is slow etc and then I beat them with 25" mud tires lol.

@Spywell - 2 strokes don't make twice as much power of 4 strokes, they rev 2 times quicker and ecelerate faster. 4 strokes are slower but powerful, think of it as a small block engine and a big block engine. small blocks quick, big blocks slower but with more top end speed

@nitro5871 Stick a performance pipe on the 250ex AND the Popo and the popo will leave you in the dust no doubt about it.
My information is via DYNO, the Polaris 250 makes 22HP from factory, a 200$ pipe will increase from 22HP to 32HP. The slightest cheapest modification and that 250 polaris will wake up and smash you. You are probably dead even with a 250 popo stock, with the popo winning in acceleration.

I have two friends that each have one of these. one's like a 1991 model & the other one is a 1988 model. And my uncle has a 1995 model & it's in great shape. I think they should've made the trail boss a manual shift.

I have a 350 trail boss (2stroke) I beat the neighbors new 400ex with pipe.
350 is way better than the 250, and the 400 2-stroke is really only a slightly bored over 350. I have both 350 and 400.

If beating modified 400ex's is slow in a 15+ yo atv then yea, it's slow but definately not slower than bran new 400ex's with a aftermarket pipe.
