I was raised and live in Tacoma, so it is nice to see a few songs made about the place. With the downtown district remodeled, a Starbucks on every corner, and being less than an hour out of Seattle, there is certainly nothing lacking here for culture or refinement. I like the town; and I swear, the south Tacoma neighborhoods always make me feel as if it is 1946. Great compilation of video shots! :-)

I shall tell you all a little secret. Tacoma used to smell bad from all the wood pulp products on the tide flats, and the shootings and poverty on Hilltop was legendary! But Gore's GIGAPOP internet center was given to UW Tacoma, and the price of a building downtown went from $200k to $5 mil! Like a tsunami... that valuation has crawled up the hill and all the way to University Place... a changed city!... thanks to Gore. Tacoma is now a modern broadband presence! hehe

I think the people of Seattle hate Tacoma because it reminds them of how Seattle used to be. A big small town where neighbors know each other. Tacoma isn't perfect but what City is. It has suffered a bad rep for years but the City has made great strides to improve itself.

I first moved Tacoma, when I was 12 that works out to 44 years ago. It is really unfortunate that this film was done in black and white. For a city of its size for the most part it has a small town atmosphere. Like all cities of any size it does have its problems.
