They followed the ways of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah and they were also destroyed. There are pictures of sex in Pompeii houses with children around. This city would have been a pedophile's dream.
Your lucky to go there. I always woundered what it would be like to be in a place so old, and touch apart of history. The reason why some Americans don't know much about the outside world is because they don't have money to experience it we are only on the border with Mexico, and Canada mostly. Also our media, and schools don't help. Well at least I can see what it would be like by video.
u auctually walk on the real roads in the real houses and nothing is in a glass box. there are guides that tell u about it. u can touch everything except the hardend people. It is like walking through the real city.
I'm going to Italy next year and will make a side trip to Pompeii. I was wondering how close you can get to the ruins? Do they let walk through them? How long would you recommend I spend there(full day or half day)?
Also visit Herculaneum, in modern Italian Ercolano. It is now quite an uninspiring suberb of Naples, but I think the ruins there are better preserved than at Pompei. You can get a combined ticket to visit all the ruins and both Ercolano and Pompei are on the Circumvesuviana railway between Naples and Sorrento.

Yes, you can walk through them. If you want to visit all the ruins, you should plan to spend a full day.
