I'm going on welfare, foodstamps and umemployment Oh Shit I'm white!

  • @lv2surf wait did nancy really say "Unemployment checks are the fastest way to create jobs?"

  • Derek Dzvirko

  • F#$% your free shit hippy! get a job!

  • Free clove cigarettes! Liberate my little black crutches.

  • Yeah... lets waste time talking about his wardrobe instead of shit that matters.

  • Economy sucks . . . jobs plan sucks . . . Obama sucks

  • Fox are part of the system

  • Thinking of this stimulus package, Im reminded of my father in law's general advice: "When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging."

  • Does nick have any other clothes???

  • that's his super hero costume

  • Nick forgot to mention Cap and trade, and VAT tax

  • Hard to get all of that in when you are only given enough time to make a few blurbs. The average American has the attention span of a gnat and the education of an 11 year old when it comes to politics and economics.

Agreed with the previous poster that Nick needs a wardrobe expansion. Possibly even with clothing that is not black.

  • @AKlover I don't think red leather would be a wise idea, even if the economy gets better.

  • Red leather is never acceptable on a man, now on a hot woman it's great. Just saying if he is going to be the main face for the publication/organization perhaps a wardrobe person is called for.

As far as politics, social issues, economics, and journalism in general Reason is head and shoulders above the pack. It's tragic that Libertarianism is not acceptable to 95% of people and likely never will be. Move a healthy chunk of GOP voters away from Cop/Mil worship and you'll open the door.

  • I have been reading, not just subscribing to, Reason for 20 years. One thing I don't do is read it with my guns, their chambers open waiting for the civil war to occur. Kooks give Libertarians a bad name. You night want to work on your presentation.

  • Because you can see I own a few guns via looking at my page you assume I am a kook? Way to stereotype! Can i safely assume you are are doper do not shower regularly since you seem to be a Libertarian?

  • man, you're a self righteous dick. flippin' cosmotarians. no perspective. as always w/ libertarians, the perfect is the enemy of the good.

  • Hayek and Friedman were heart surgeons where Keynesians are homeopaths: their pills are placebos so when the arteries clog, they're as good as useless.

  • Most brilliant political move I have seen in along time is the "We saved _____ amount of jobs." Because you can't prove they did or didn't and it sounds like they did :(

  • I actually saved 20 lives on my way to work this morning by consciously making the decision to not run them over with my car. How many lives did you save today?

  • What a brilliant example. BTW I plan on stealing it and using it as much as possible! TY

  • About five.

  • Whatever motovates Fox is fine with me so along as their audience continues to be introduced to the ideas of freedom.

  • Does Gillespie only own one set of clothes? He wears the same thing every time he's interviewed....

  • Cavuto is a tool. Nick, aside from Napolitano, nobody at Fox actually gives a crap about you. They're just acting like your friend because they are in "bitch about Democrats" mode. Once Republicans get back in power, you'll still be saying the same thing and they'll treat you like you're a raving lunatic.

Don't pander to these guys. All they care about is their own agenda.

  • @787Bisurdaddy Agree, just look how many of them support war with Iran

  • @787Bisurdaddy All anyone ever cares about is their own agenda. No big surprise there. Who is pandering?? Can you turn off a vid, change a channel??

  • Who is pandering? It's obvious from my previous comment.

Fox only cares about "limited government" at the moment because of the Democratic majority in government. Fox doesn't ACTUALLY support the things that Nick talks about, they just pretend to in order to bitch about Democrats. Nick can't be stupid enough not to realize this; he's pandering to their agenda by coming on their shows just so he can get some exposure.

  • Now whether you think this pandering is a good or bad idea is another topic of discussion, but I would have to say that I think it's a bad idea. Fox is going to kick him to the curb when the Republicans become the majority again. Napolitano is the only person at Fox that actually says what he believes and has meaningful discussions with guests like Nick, and Fox limits him to a web show that nobody watches.

I just don't see any positive angle to Nick appearing on these TV shows.

  • @787Bisurdaddy

Fox News gets way more ratings than any of the other national news stations. Not only that but they are the only national news station that isn't liberal. So regardless of whether or not Fox News will "kick him to the curb" if he wants to get his message out there to even more viewers Fox is a great way to do it. If you can't see the advantage of Gillespie getting his point of view out to more people and i'll add, people that will listen to him, than you need to open your eyes.

  • Only national news station (I think you mean channel) that isn't liberal? What are you smoking? I guess you've never watched MSNBC before.

Not that it matters, because "liberal" and "conservative" when it comes to the media are meaningless terms. They're just distractions created to keep people from noticing the blatant corporatism.

Nick isn't getting his point out, there's not enough time. Instead, he's coming off as if he's just another Fox News parrot.

  • @787Bisurdaddy

I had put news "organization" but i ran out of space so i put station lol.. but MSNBC are you serious? They are the biggest liberals in the media.

Its funny how liberals or democrats don't see just how biased things have become. i guess maybe if you were on the other side you would have to notice. But in all seriousness, yes fox news is the only right leaning news national news station on tv. Olbermann, Maddow and Schultz all liberals all msnbc..

  • It's funny how you think I'm a liberal or a democrat, since I'm neither. Maybe you should stop examining things in such black and white terms.

  • @787Bisurdaddy

I can tell when i'm talking to a liberal or dem because they are always clueless.. Seriously if you didn't know MSNBC was a liberal news station then trust me your clueless.

lol black and white, i'm not a republican either i may lean towards the right but i'm still a libertarian.

Gillespie doesn't need Fox News anyways he has Reason Magazine and YouTube.

  • I was specifically thinking of Cramer when I made the statement; yes, MSNBC has it's "liberal" shills but fake liberalism is exactly that.

If you want to insist that I'm a liberal, I have no problem with that. After all, libertarianism embraces classical liberalism.

I'm not sure why you assumed I wasn't a libertarian, but I am. Actually, I prefer the term "anti-statist" because I'm not a minarchist.

  • "Gillespie doesn't need Fox News anyways"

That's exactly the point I was making in the first place.

  • Man, Fox is really taking a more libertarian point of view, aren't they? Glad they're bringing NIck into the fold, I suppose.

  • @theneedledrop

My guess is that there's a growing market for libertarian ideas and Fox is responding like any self interested organization. Red Eye is a libertarian friendly show on Fox News and they have Nick Gillespie on quite often.

  • Thorbie The reason for libertarians being on Fox is also because when it comes to economy there is virtually no difference between conservatives and libertarians. (Please dont bring up Bush, he was conservative, like Im a fluffy kitten)

  • @samuils

While that tends to be the case, conservatives often don't go as far as libertarians do in terms of focusing on the importance of limited government on all fronts and I think few conservative commentators have made the case against the Fed and returning to the gold standard, as opposed to libertarians. In my opinion, specifically libertarian ideas are coming into fashion with the growing tea party movement and the past year's rise in sales of Atlas Shrugged. Just my view though.

  • Thorbie You are correct on the Fed, but I think that has to do more with knowledge rather than point of view. Some people (libertarian included) just dont comprehend the fact that FED is the root of many if not all financial problems.

  • Nick,

The reason why we aren't losing 500k jobs a month is because it would be mathematically impossible to continue at that rate. Bring that up next time! :)

  • Some of the stimulus is a slush fund of buying votes to pass the socialist bills in Congress.

  • Money spent by government comes from the productive people and projects. It is then spent on unproductive people and projects. This doesn't create jobs, it just moves them from positions of freedom and capitalism to control by the socialist government.

  • @XCritonX It would be more honest of government agents stuck a gun in your back and marched you to an ATM.

  • Honesty from the government? Hahhahhahhah!

It might be more efficient if they just robbed us with guns. I am sure that it will become obvious to them at some point, then the velvet glove will come off.

Turns out the real Red Dawn comes from within!

  • you're right and you mark my words, if this all turns to shit and it is headed that way they will come for everything you've got. The new dealers took the gold from Americans, and they gave it up thinking they would get it back.. The gov't will empty 401ks this time, including the gold you possess.

  • Before they get my gold they have to take my lead.

  • Damn right.

  • Great vid.

I'd like to see a lot more conversations between these guys.

    Both are articulate Libertarian/Conservative advocates.

  • Its good to see well spoken advocates of liberty holding their own on mainstream news outlets. Kudos Nick.
