  • Thank you for posting these lessons. Could you please check out my video and give me honest critique on my four finger technique. Please don't hold back, give it to me straight. Thanks again you are a great musician and a great teacher.

  • amazing playing man, you're very talented!

what kind of technique do you find useful for just playing straight sixteenth notes? would a thumb-index technique be better, or the four finger pizzicato?

  • @JerridPayne I meant the bass

  • @JerridPayne Dude heres the thing........No one gives a fuck

  • Wow, oddly enough I had never thought of a 4 finger picking technique like this. You, sir , are going to be responsible for a massive increase in my abilities as a bass player. Thank you.

  • Fuck yeah Human Base! Got myself a 5 string bassx .0c5, what a beauty.

  • i wonder what effects he's running. he has a great sound....anyone know?

  • @lowbassfan hey - I'm not running effects on this clip - I did put the bass through Logic Pro and did mix the bass sound but left the sound pretty clean with just a tiny bit of EQing - hope that helps - the bass sounds really great on its own

  • @lowbassfan it is a very good effect, it sounds amazing

  • this is sick !!!

  • impressive :O really love the sound :D

  • Unbelievable! I don't think I could ever get that happening....

  • Just think that Jaco came up with that groove ( and it was a most royal groove ), AND played it with just two fingers. The man was a genius !

  • @ruffian1868 I agree - this is just a variation on that groove - and I can play it with two fingers as well :-)

  • Imagine this guy after drinking a couple of Red Bulls??? Holy shit!!!

  • pretty cool

  • I think it's safe to say that he ripped it up.

  • great bassman tank for lesson respect

  • beautiful

  • Isn't that first part a Jaco lick?

  • @arnbassbaritone Yeah, it is essentially the second main groove in "(Used To Be) A Cha-Cha" off his first solo album but altered with extra notes.

  • @katanamanatee Thought so

  • realy nice sound man!!!

    bassplayer respect!

  • Geez, like Rocco Prestia on meth!

  • your right hand looks like a glorious bird attempting take off

  • Sexy bass.

  • :O

  • I WANT UR Bass

  • great work.....

  • Do you ever use the thumb as an upwards pick aswell? (Down-Up or Up-Down and then Pluck-Pluck-Pluck)

  • You have made SO MUCH progress during the years, i have been watching you play since your video "Footprints"! Im proud of you boy!

  • ive been watching ur vids for years! glad to see your technique is amazing, but im glad to see your making excellent improvement on your timing!

  • Wow. Needless to say, I am throughly impressed. Has this technique been used before or is this a first?

  • @MUSICRTW Unless I'm mistaken, it's the classical way to play.

  • @Cobrevolution Well, this guy has it down so clean that I almost want to say he is the first to have done it. haha

  • awesome! dope feeling to it...

  • Thank you for this lesson

  • I like me that bass. dig it!! alot!

  • How disadvantaged am i if my bass doesnt have a ramp?

  • @happyslappysoong quite a bit. its doable, but you'd be astounded at how much easier it is to use the ramp

  • @happyslappysoong if you have a bass with some soap bar style pickups it can work out with practice

  • thank you for this.

  • You are one of the few people that uses his third finger the same way I do (Left hand third finger) I don't always use the tip, I bend it back like you would end up in a finger roll.

  • you made the video! Thanks mike, very much appreciated, Youre a big inspiration

  • ummm why are you not famous?????

  • @bigdawgandrewm He's famous on YouTube =P

  • Excellent!

  • youve influenced my playing more than you could imagine. Thank you

  • Thanks for sharing your insight! Most appreciated. Your album have been spinning daily on my commute playlist for the past month. Can't wait for the follow-up. Are you a full time musician? If you can't make a living of it, no-one can.

  • i cant believe its not jaco!

  • @paragshah2112 I can, Jaco didnt use this technique at all. It is great playing though.

  • Why thank you sir!
