  • It's just amazing how past posters treated this movie as it were the truth and not fiction. Maybe they should read books, instead of using fictional movies as references to history.

  • nooooooooooo Cubaaaaa!!! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!! omgggg!!!!

  • Red Tails?

  • This movie is long on Hollywood fantasy/PC dogma and short on history. Interviews with the bomber pilots they were assigned to escort tell a vastly different story of their performance. By the time they were deployed flak not German fighters was the greater threat in the area they served despite how this movie portrays it. But kinda like pointing out Garrett Morgan didnt really invent the modern traffic light but a hand cranked semaphore youre an evil nazi for pointing out the truth.

  • @jettyholic Nobody here has accused you of racism... stop trying to race bait.

  • @jettyholic A "modern traffic light?" What the fuck are you talking about? It's a movie.

  • @hjb103055 The NAACP claims Garret Morgan invented the modern electric 3 color traffic light, this is promoted and taught as a fact in many schools, just like this movie is presented as factual history. Garrett Morgan actually built a hand cranked semaphore, pointing this out gets you called a heretic just like pointing out this movie and the Tuskegee Airman story in general is a load of poop does. Rather simple comparison in pointing out similar harmful lies.

  • @jettyholic

Very, very true! It's not about truth anymore, it's about making people feel good. If that means rewriting history, exaggerating, and sometimes even created events to make certain groups feel better about themselves, then so be it. How pathetic. People view factual history as racist. We need to do some modern day book burning, and we need to toss all the trash made in the last forty years in the pile. I saw a black person claim Africans liberated France! LOL!

  • This part brought tears to my eyes. As strong as racism was in those days, i find it very bold and strong of that man to tell his commander that he wants a black pilot to cover his men and back. #SALUTE

  • @124reppin I don't think its all that heroic to try to save your own ass by requesting the best pilots to cover your own ass. Its called self preservation. Buy the way that bomber pilot that your admiring so much was calling them niggers until they saved his ass. Hes a hypercrit nothing more.

  • this movie has to be an older vesion of red tails cause is has most of the same actors

  • One of the best war flicks ever made. Up there with Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers. Stalingrad, The Longest Day, etc.

  • Great men that overcame adversity and racism to achieve their goals of becoming piolets in the Army Air Corp. They exhibited true intestinal fortitude and serve as an inspiration to us all.

  • Time frame 5:50 would make for an awesome photograph, If there is such a thing as a beautifull end, well as I said before, If you love aircraft? Going out this way, in such a setting well it doesn't get any better then that!:}

  • :50 Did that German Destroyer ever blow!

  • Haaa he was like fuck the dumb shit i want the colored boys to take my ass there & back!

  • If I could choose my death, what a glorious end in a p51:} Beats getting old and dying of cancer or some other ailment.

  • @RFKFANTS67 I hear that. You won't find me waiting to die in a bed, hooked up to monitoring devices.

  • @RFKFANTS67 Hell yeh!

  • @RFKFANTS67 This is sort of thing that can be only be said by young person whose sole experience of war is from the seat of movie theater or a television screen. There is nothing glorious about dying in combat. It is horrible and tragic, and I a guarantee you that not one of these brave young men, if given the choice would have chosen to die in a P-51 rather than to live a long life and grow old with their families simply for the sake of glory.

  • @creamfinger Actually I'm 44 not 14! yet another case of speaking before one has facts. And I'd still rather go this way, then die a slow agonising death from say cancer. I never promoted war or it's glory, simply my choice of death. And if you think I'm off my rocker? I suggest you talk to the family of the late, and my favourite racer "Jimmy Leeward RIP" His daughter said to me, when he died living his passion in "Ghost"

  • @RFKFANTS67 I appreciate why you (or anyone) would desire to experience a meaningful, quick death rather than suffer then pain and indiginity of a protracted terminal illness. Perhaps it is was the way you said what you did that seemed to dimish the sacrifice of these young fliers who did not choose to die in their planes, and not see it as glorious way to go, it was simply a job that had to be done, and if they didn't do it, someone else would have to. So they went and they died.

  • Cuba gooding jr. is such an amazing actor its unbelievable he is soo underrated! ;(

  • @karnage981 He's an awesome dude. We played late night hockey with him, Kiefer and Keanu in Pasadena. He's also in Red Tail's btw. I think he's the Commander.

  • @superdonkeyballs cool :)

  • Nooooooooooooooooo :( A-TRAIN!

  • Guess they couldn't afford to pay Cuba Gooding Jr. anymore.

  • That's it guys..dying for your country..

  • that not 109....

  • the 109 blowing up with the red nose after attacking "train" (4.46) (lol not the yellow nose it had before) was cut right out of the film "The Battle of Britain" made in 1969, so its effects are 25 years old when this film was made or 42 years old now in 2011, and most of you probably didn't notice it was even there ! blowing shit up for real....best effect there is :)

  • I reckon no effects are as good as the real thing when it comes to that. plus its somewhat sad to remember there were a lot of good men on both sides who died in those inferno's. Go the Tuskies!

  • Why does Billy have to die.. =(

  • I loved how they were singing "Straighten Up and Fly Right" by nat king cole while they were diving at that destroyer lol.

  • RIP.. USAAC / USAF SGT. Robert Peeples.. Moten Field Ala, Lockbourn AFB "SAC" Cols, Ohio. a Lonely Eagle

  • OKAY RED TAILS IS coming out LETS GO!!!

  • @MrHighlyeducated hell yeah, my grandpa was a red tail

  • I really enjoyed this on HBO, good writing, production and acting

Lucas's version witll surely have more advanced digital effects but not necesarily a better movie

  • 4:47 is from the movie :"Battle of Britain" its the scene where a spitfire shoots down a me-109 Buchon. its been reversed, but i recognised how in the explosion the motor remains. same in the B of B movie :D

  • @nick21sammy these are pieces of film which are for sale. Low budget movies can't afford to film their own 109 crass

  • 'The colored boys?'

    "that's right sir'

  • "Train, you know what I'm thinking?" "Yeah, let's make some history by proving these crackers that color folk can be good pliots!!"

  • sometimes i think ive born 100yrs to late y'know i liked back in the days.....i would've been a black aviator that would've been mi dream

  • german destroyer

  • My god, they used Spanish versions of Bf-109 in this movie. :-S

  • fuck this movie is awesome

  • I guess that racist captain is grateful now. What a shame a man had to die protecting him before he could accept a black person as an equal.

  • The american racist asks of his commander for Tuskegee Airmen help. There is nothing more beautiful.

  • the only reason hitler conquered europe so fast is noone wanted to fight him and by the time all of them were fed up with his shit he had everything but Great Britain. the brits were on their last leg when hitler waited before his big invasion giving the brits time to go to fuel injected engines and variable pitch props on the hurricanes and spits. they had the upper hand and handed the germans their asses.

  • I HATE RASISUM, what in hevens name is wrong with black people, so what we're humans, this and my love of planes, makes me salute them, and the sight of those red nosed P-51's makes me proud.

  • how can someone sink a destroyer with a fighter only with guns? even the planes that carry the biggest cannons can't do that, you need a bomb for that

  • how can someone sink a destroyer with a fighter only with guns? even the planes that carry the biggest cannons can't do that, you need a bomb, and not just any bomb, an armor piercing one!

  • @fidan2fast

Incindary Bullets into the Magazine or set off ammuntion on the deck, such as depth charges

  • Never lost a single plane under thier wings. Watch world war 2 the African American experience. Most of this is true. They interview these characters real counterparts. Amazing footage too.

  • @Movegas1 : strange, why does the united states air force records seem to say different?

  • @ccrinc

It's debatatble how many bombers were shot down, but some estimate the Tuskegee PIlots lost 25 bombers to enemy action, most were lost to German AA Fire, and you can also arguee that they couldn't guard every bomber all the time so it was inevitable that some Luftwaffe Fighters would get through or pick off any stragglers

  • OFFICIAL MILITARY RECORDS SHOW NOT A SINGLE BOMBER WAS LOST UNDER THEIR PROTECTION.

  • @MrTheaterjunkee Wrong. The United States Air Force reviewed their records in late 2006 and found that at least 25 American bombers were lost to German fighters and flak while under the protection of the 332nd Fighter Group. While this doesn't tarnish their overall wartime record, it proves that like white pilots, they weren't perfect. But then again, nobody is.

  • The only destroyer sunk by the 332nd was sunk by a P-47 Thunderbolt, not a P-51 Mustang.

  • @Eboreg2 they didnt use the right aircraft at all in the movie. they started with P-40's went to 38's then to the 47. but they were notorious for the 51 as bomber escorts

  • if the war had lasted another year we(america) could have lost the war. the germans had the first jet fighters and they were gona attack america

  • @mcnallyrd3 Are you for real? Wake up. They didn`t have enough planes or pilots by the end of 1944. How could they attack America when they didn`t have enough fuel or planesand pilots to defend Germany?!! They fought on so many fronts at the same time that men and material couldn`t be replaced fast enough. You better get your facts straight or you make a fool out of yourself.

  • @pitbull73 do your damn research before u start telling me to wake up. iv done my research. we damn near lost this war on both fronts. like if japan had sent the 3rd wave on pearl harbor there wouldnt have been a pacific theater anymore. and japan invaded alaska but it got to cold for them so they said screw this and left.

  • @mcnallyrd3 ; history shows that hilter was told to wait another 5 years but did not listen to his advisers. just think if he had listen.

  • @prozanine I agree with you. he would have had over whelming technology and the world would be different today. thank god he wasn't the smartest dictator.

  • @GKris1989 Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of Hitler, but I'm so sick of people calling him stupid. He conquered all of Europe and held it with very little to fight with. Its easy looking back 50 years knowing what has come to past and saying yea that guy was an idiot. He was one of the most influential and charismatic leaders in the history of the human race.I have the hatred towards the Germans for what they did to my ancestors but from a different point I can understand their actions.

  • @RedPower012 I understand that but first of all I didnt call him stupid. I said he wasnt the smartest because if he was Germany would've won the war. Also remember he did not conquer all of Europe napoleon conquered more of Europe than hitler did. Great Britain stood there ground and so did Russia. Those two countries are part of Europe. I have a strange admiration for hitler and stalin even though they were evil as hell. I dont worship any of them, but I cant help but admire what they achieved.

  • @RedPower012 I'm a black guy that hates racism, but anybody who calls Hitler stupid is a nut.

He made bad decision, and became mentally unstable, but he was far from "stupid".

  • @AgrivatedKillah I must admit im a an African american that admired Hitler!

  • Comment removed

  • @AgrivatedKillah I'd say Hitler was mentally unstable from day one in his outlook regarding Jews, Poles, and anyone else he regarded as inferior and beneath his twisted Arian ideal of "the master race". As far as being stupid as a military leader though, I'd say his decision to attack Russia and the battle of Stalingrad qualifies as truly "stupid" if anything does.

  • @AgrivatedKillah your whiter than cornbread

  • @AgrivatedKillah

25 bombers lost, no destroyer sank, no b17 bombers requested escort

    For the truth GOOGLE

nine myths about the tuskegee airmen

  • @AgrivatedKillah : Correct.

"Evil" would be a more appropriate term.

  • @AgrivatedKillah Tactically and strategically hitler did pretty good.

  • @mcnallyrd3 And we had nuclear bombs. . . . .That would sort of trump the jets

  • if u pay close attention, the German planes are FW-190s instead of Me-109s.

  • @XDq55X the main german fighters were the me-109 and the flock wolf 190. they were the best fighters the Luffwaffe had until the american p-51 mustang arrived and beat them at their own game

  • i dunno man this movie seems kinda heavy handed and corny. they should do a remake.

  • @IcyScythe

Actual George Lucas is currently working on a remake, it is called Red Tails! Do the google and wiki search!

  • @mole646 Really?

  • Great movie! Thanks for sharing!

  • They said they were P-51 bs they rn't they were P-51 Ds.

  • omg i loved train!! i cried when he died.

  • Train don't die!! Hes my favoite!!

  • it was sad when Billy "Train" died he was my favorite character

  • @StarkillerDVSA Thanks for the spoiler asshole.

  • @jimmywrangles haha was this your first time seeing the movie?

  • @StarkillerDVSA if i were the guys in the bomber i would have turned off the headset to not hear that conversation

  • God Bless the The Tuskegee Airmen

  • one of the films i grew up on that made me love WW2 History and Aircraft today ! XD

  • And the award for worst acting in a death scene goes to...

  • I love this movie

  • This was a very well put together movie. I don't think you should be worrying about the effects because they used REAL footage. It's not going to look as 'cool' as the explosions made today in modern films. Plus, I think it was best that they used REAL footage because it makes the movie more in depth. And I thought it was really cool. :P xD

  • @RalphMcPie

    Well, 4:48 was a hollywood "footage"! :-D

  • black, white, yellow, even if youre a freaking rainbow it doesnt mater, wath mathers is the kind of pearson you are

  • At the time of this filming they were likely less than 1/2 dozen bf109s of all types that were airworthy out of 35,000 built. There rarity makes for them to be hard to fly for films.

  • Honestly the "effect" shows (just talking about the making of) are a bit poor. Nowadays I would expect correct german fighters in such films (and in this case computer animation would help).

Nice Buchon... but sorry, wrong plane.

  • @Vickzq You must remember that this was made in 95, on an HBO budget. I think they did a remarkable job with what they had.

  • Amen.

  • dont wori bro,im certain dat im not one of those people you mentioned.. ilove your music you guyz are the father of hiphop and rap music

  • 3:49-8:16.This has to be the most heart wrenching.Poor Hanibal.

  • ..remember your president now is black too and i like him,so u shoud be glad to be called one, theres nothing to be ashamed of,what matters is our dignity of what wve done to help our country weather we are black, asian, latin or white,,jzt to make it clear bro,i said colored coz i want to praise them in particular and not as an act of racial dizcrmination.if i were in that time of ww2 i want to be deploy in their unit..

  • god im proud of this colored boys

  • thanks for the comment, but please don't refer to us as"colored" boy...refer to us as american's...That's what you call yourself...

  • hi,well fyi sir,im not an american,my skin is not white too, therefore i can call my self as colored too,i wonder why lot of people are ashamed of being called as black or colored when that is what we are.i think racial descrimination is not the isue anymore,i said colored becauce i really want to praise them particularly, coz if i say americans theres a lot types of americans like caucasian amierican, asian, latin american and black american etc..

  • totally know what you're saying. but people are ashamed of being called black mostly because even now we've been raised in a society where we're being taught that black is bad white is good (even though we don't know it). they've actually done studies about it ....it's sorta like subliminal messaging. and the word colored is only offensive depending on who says it and how they say it. :D
