Remember, in New York (and most other places) it's always more important for the pedestrians, cab drivers, soccer moms, fedex trucks etc. to get to where there going then it is for the ambulance to get to where it's going.

@386obc Not correct. It's an FDNY EMS Lieutenant. You can tell the difference by the star of life on the rear side window. The EMS Lieutenants and FDNY Battalion Chiefs use the same trucks. I am a Lieutenant in Queens, and drive the exact same vehicle.

@Zucc60 but what was the whole point of placing an ambulance service under the control of a  fire department? this is unique to NY, right? the LAFD do not control the LA ambulance service.

@farooqmm1987 Not sure what the point was but NY does have private Ambulance companies as well. Also neighboring cities/towns have private Ambulance companies. Maybe they decided to make them FDNY because it makes communications between Fire & EMS easier...not sure though...

@Zucc60 yh maybe, it could be that merging the 2 emergency deparments is cost effective. it was just weird seeing an ambulance with FDNY on it, considering that is the initials of the fire department. i live in london, and if i saw an ambulance on it with "london fire brigade", i would really think that was strange! lol.

@farooqmm1987 Come to think of it, I would say it being cost effective may have something to do with it. I was going to work for FDNY EMS and even took the Physical and was interviewed...I decided not to because of how little they pay their EMT's, which gives you an idea of the small budget they are working with. I heard from some Paramedics that the Ambulance's contracted with the Hospital's doing transports pay their EMT's the best actually.

@farooqmm1987 .....yes they do... You haven't seen LAFD ambulances? My county and the county next to me has their fire department control their ambulances. So in Station 6, there would be Henrico Fire Engine 6 and Henrico FIRE Medic 6. Many departments do that.

Das Fahrzeug ist ein Ford Excursion, Baujahr 2005, und einer der beiden Typen Fahrzeuge die als FDNY-Chiefs fahren. Ungefähr die Hälfte aller Chiefs haben LED, die anderen einen Drehspiegelbalken.

Die Fahrzeuge heißen bei der Feuerwehr Battalion, beim Rettungsdienst EMS Battalion oder EMS Supervisor, wenn du die Aufgaben wissen willst kann ich sie dir gerne erzählen, aber dann per PN, die Zeichenbeschränkung nervt hier doch sehr :D

Ebenfalls ein Ford Excursion, allerdings Baujahr 2002/2003, mit einem Federal Signal Aerodynic Balken mit Drehspiegeln, Doppelblitzfrontblitzer und Intersectionlights und einem Whelen Highway Series Balken am Heck. Also fast das gleiche Fahrzeug, nur eine ältere SoSi Technik
