How to assemble AOSOM baby bike trailer/stroller brake system

There assuredly was no wah-laa on my end. While this video was mildly helpful in understanding the mechanism (closeup and birdseye camera angle would have been preferred). Lets call a spade a spade, this brake system stinks.

To Aosom.com: I don't like how the brake cables go down the middle of the back and block access to the little cargo area (I couldn't get my diaper bag in or out!) So for now, I only have one working brake so that I could run the cable down the side. The majority of the cable is now inside the cover.

It would be great if one of the cables was about 2 feet longer than the other so that it could be run along the bottom of the frame keeping it out of the way and making the cargo area accessible.
