  • try some tinfoil on top, just a little, and then touch it with a fingernail...

  • where did you get that coil? i had one but sadly it broke... i salvaged it from a vcr... could you tell me where that could be purchased?

  • what type of coil are you using? cheers.

  • try a flourecent tube instead, they light up well

  • Well, thats the whole point. Capacitance. If you were to switch your household mains off and run the plasma globe off another power source, you would find that the LEDs will not light up. The ground is the antenna, the energy radiation is strong enough just to light the LEDs up. You are a capacitor in essence. the coil is one electrode of the cap and you and/or the wire is the other end.

  • i love that he is watching star trek in the background... am i suprised?

    nahh

  • Super high voltage is probably just bleeding into the air as ions. Humidity will also affect this. This is why electrostatically charged items don't hold their charge indefinitely.

  • it grounds is out air is quite dense

  • That was quit aeazing... Thanks AND Peace!!!

  • Most clever :)

  • Probe aluminiun plate over plasma globe an touch any terminal (positive or negative). Is similar sec Effect.

  • You are observing the effects of capacitive coupling. The coil has no influence on power transfer. You can duplicate this with a coin in place of the coil. Capacitive coupling to the atmosphere is occurring at the antenna also. The high frequency of the plasma driver is allowing energy transfer thru the glass, thru the leds - and into the air space via the antenna.

You can liken this to the effects of inertia. Shake an object. It resists movement. That's similar to what the Led is seeing.

  • hey can you plz check out how much power you can pick up by using a tesla coil in the place of the plasma globe (not on top of it lol but a few metres away)

    thanks

  • Try a neon tube like a Ne-2 Or a small He-Ne laser tube or a regular tungsten light bulb and even CFL s work too

  • Spatial Energy Coherence (SEC)??

  • No, but it may be on the same lines. I have not made a SEC.

I will when I get the time though..

    Paul..

  • At 0:43 Why don't you try to tuch it to see if your body would do an enought ground ?

  • If I remember correctly it light up...

    Paul..

  • Ok thanks.

  • What would happen if you connected a radio there instead of the LEDs?

  • The high voltage is radiant atmospheric, what some folks call capacitance. See this video for the atmospheric 32volts: v=QdjIifilrkk and for the 500volts, google search Plauson Collector ... All credits to Tesla...

  • Ill take a look thanks...

  • what happens if you use two antenna one on the leds the other on the coil?

  • that is so cool, I would like to see something on a larger scale

  • Thanks, I am working on it with fluorescent tubes.....

    More to come

    Paul..

  • o kwl nice find, it might have something to do with the plasma state of matter, since the gas is in an ionized state.

  • Think your right mate. definitely needs more study..

    Thanks for noticing

    Paul..

  • plasma ball create static electricity since those normally operate with a fly back the ball itself make a small cap and the fact that you take the wire away from it to act like an antenna discharge the globe and of course lightning up any low power led, neon, neon bulb, etc nice demonstration of electrostatic energy ^^. 5 stars for me

  • Thanks,

I think we can take it further though? How far would an electrostatic field travel maximum?

    Thanks

    Paul

  • Well I'm not quite sure about that because higher the static build up the easier it is to create an arc, and I'm pretty sure that to much static will probably destroy some electronics component. If you want to try sending electricity wirelessly maybe try with radio wave like the old AM radio tune 2 coil on the same frequency and I think you can acheive nice distance with that.

  • I was thinking more beamed so that it is not Omnidirectional and the power transfer is localized and directed at the device that needs power. I think HV is the key then step down at the other side.

    Any views?

  • I'm not quite sure about using HV for long range specialy when we're talking Mega volts. since the directional HV beam would probably be quite hard to focus and more to isotale yourself from it. Short range like couple of feet might work quite well. give me news on that ill return to my joule thief modified solar flash light ;)

  • Sure it's not just the unground wire having a much larger surface area, and is able to catch simple stray ions in the air better then without the wire, leading to a slight movement?

    ...Almost like fishing for ions...

  • I say fish away I might find a big haul....

    Paul

  • Great video. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks..

  • Well the energy collected by the bifilar coil is induced by the oscillating electrical energy coming from the plasma globe.

I would say that with the aerial you increased the potential. What's the voltage? Maybe it is not enough to light up a neon.

  • Oh it lights up a neon, but how does iy know to light a neon a 90v and a LED as Other??

    Paul..

  • So it lights up a 90v neon and it doesn't burn the LED??! Do you connect the neon the same way as the LED? If so that is awesome, and my first impression is that the bifilar coil is generating a pretty good potential with the plasma globe, and when you add an intersection to another potential (the aerial) the voltage builds up to the point that it needs to dissipate or reach equilibrium. Just a hypothesis here.

  • It would be awesome if you could show the neon lighting up with the same system and experiment further.

  • Just uploading a private video now....

Ill PM you with the address...

    Paul..

  • I agree, the power is only consumed where it is needed, the second videos quite interesting....

    Just uploading Now!

    Paul..

  • Good Theory Ill try it with two neons to see if they both light in series and in parallel.

    Cheers.

  • Thanks, wow that would be cool ^_^

  • All you need is a voltage differential for power to naturally flow. Our universe always seeks ballance, and the high voltage electric plasma arc is much larger than the voltage of the air. (witch is very much like a capacitor, with lightning strike discharges)

  • I agree, I want to find where this happens naturally.

    Then Tap it!

    Paul

  • under a high voltage power line would be a good place to test. you can do the same sort of thing with a fluorescent light tube.

  • Good Idea Mate do you know what frequency they use on power lines?

You could park your car under them all day with like 20 car batteries in the boot!!

    Paul..

  • i believe in the US it is 60 hz not sure about elsewhere but i would guess it is the same as what you would get in your house.

  • It will be 50hz for UK power lines mate.

Nice little experiment there aswell, very interesting.

  • Cheers..

  • When you touch a plasma ball the plasma attempts to ground itself through the person touching it. And it must suceed to some degree otherwise touching it would have no visible effect. As soon as you added the ariel the plasma was redirected toward the coil, showing that at least some of the energy is transfering through the glass.

The cool part is You just proved that an electric plasma arc, is a magnetic wave, Congratulations!!

  • ONly because It was produced as a wave, maybe if `i looked at it other it would be seen as that also??

I think the next video is more interesting...

    Paul.

  • wow how does that work? I have seen stuff like this before. They would but there hand on a big plasma globe and then they put their hand on it and grab 1 side of a florescent tube. Then they would let someone else touch the other end. And it lit up!

  • I think if you flip your thinking, If the ground is the air and you think of the ground/air as the transmitter then the earth is very necessary but Power Can be transmitted through air as both are needed. Its just my theory at the moment but that is how inventions are born...

    Thanks for watching.

    Paul.

  • Thanks...

  • radio waves?

  • Electric waves to be more precise.

  • Not sure, I need to look into it....

It works from quite a distance if you put a large coil on top of the globe...

    Paul..
