Grip it firmly and twist is all we can suggest. If it's a JKA kendama and you bought it new, it shouldn't have any glue on it, so it should come apart with a firm twist and pull.
@kendamanet Hey, what should I do about this issue with my kendama? The sarado will not stay on the ken. I have tried everything but gluing it, because I don't want to make it permanently attached. I have set it on the table together and put all my weight down on it, and after that five minutes later it comes flying off. I do not know what to do. HELP! Thank you!
@alienpotatoes You should probably break down and glue it. Use white wood glue and just put a small smear on the ken sides without touching the string. You'll still be able to "crack" off the sarado to change the string as long as you don't overdo it with the glue. For hardwoods like the Keyaki and Enjyu, glue is the only way to go.
on my kendama, the kozara and the ozara will not stay on my ken. itll just keep coming off and when i put it back on it wont stay. how do i get it to stay?
Hi tayalnes. You can use a dab of wood or carpenter's glue (Elmers is fine) in the sarado hole, or put a small wood screw through the left-hand string hole opposite the seal side.

i can't remove "sarado" from the ken! it's hard to take em off, do you have any option to take the sarado from the ken?

@dellyripper182
If they are tight, you need to firmly hold the two pieces and give them a good twist, and they should come apart.
