1899; Dorothy was blonde in the original novels. As for this production. Oksana Baiul was brought in for the TV special because she was a big ice skating star at the time. I guess they didn't want to fuss with changing her hair.

I was the assistant sound engineer for this shoot. Just goes to show that you can find anything on youtube! This was shot in Hartford Connecticut and our shoot was delayed because of a blizzard that blew through. We had to go to a 24 hour schedule to make up for lost time. It was a grueling two days. Crew members slept in prop boxes. Oksana was exhausted by the end but she hung in there. I think they got something like 2 feet of snow. Good memories, fun production.
