  • Would it be possible to use Intensity Pro without having an output device?

like lets say i plugin my ps3/x360 and only rely on the input to the pci-x card. And then use the recording from the card for watching/playing on my computer. Would that work out? or does it require an output device plugged in?

  • You kinda hate the Happauge don't cha.

  • id like to know if u got a boney cock ... my GF could suck it for you :D

  • @zwingler weirdo

  • Just a simple qustion.

is it any recorder that doesnt need AV cable?

I wanna have an Reocrder that only use HDMI :) please answer :P

  • @TheEgelien If you have the money, do what i did. Buy a HDPVR, and buy a composite to HDMI converter.

  • Great video. May I know it can record XBOX360 for 1080p output?

  • Also what FPS does it record in?

  • @RefleX525 It records in about 60FPS. I don't know how well this works with computer graphics cards. You could try it, but I imagine you would need a separate computer for it not to lag. I'd ask Black Magic support to see if it would work or not.

  • With this could I record game play from my own computer virtually lag free?

I have a HDMI ready graphics card.

  • I want to have the exact component cable by Energizer that you're using. Maybe you can find an Amazon link or something? I've been looking and I haven't seen anything that looks like it for $15, but for around $50.

  • Touching the pins wont matter, what will matter is putting your fingers to them and causing static which is anywhere on the piece of equipment, and cleaning with a towel is a very bad idea.

  • @ImPxpe There's PCIexpress x1 x2 x4 x8 and x16, and this card will work in any of those ports.

  • Ps3

    HAS HDMI

  • @Hmaster786 Captain obvious; he strikes again.

PS3's HDMI is HDCP, which this card cannot and will not detect, forcing you to use component.

  • You need a PCI of x58, correct? I know you may have mentioned this in the description, but it is vague. "It requires an open PCI-express port, and works in any size PCI-express. If you have an x58 based (or better) motherboard with True USB 3.0..."

Since I am thinking of buying the shuttle(same $, easier to use)...

  • @Leolion314 The Shuttle requires x58 or better, the Intensity Pro works with almost anything that isn't more than 4 years old.

  • @mario11168 Yeah. I used CPUID CPU-Z and it said my CPI-Express was x16...:(

  • What if my monitor does not have those red/yellow cords? Does that mean I can't use this? It just has vga and hdmi/ etc.

  • @WiredKill If you plan on using the PS3/Wii you'll have to use Component Input, but you can use HDMI output. If you're using the 360 you can use HDMI input or output, so you can still use your monitor and record with this.

  • @mario11168 Right but the PC uses a different hdmi than what an xbox uses. D: I'm good at computers not at this kind of stuff

  • how much are they?

  • Would in work with an iMAC desktop?

  • @KRea118 No you need open PCIe ports and as far as I know, the iMac doesn't have any.

  • lol, they spelt Support with 3 P's 1:25

  • @kemando12 I'm mildly disturbed on how they missed that

  • @DenversSon1 Consoles have a nasty tendency to drop frames all the time, mainly due to badly coded/rendered games. You can't really stop it on consoles.

If it's not letting you record, uncheck the "stop capture on dropped frames" box in the Media Express program.

  • @DenversSon1 Consoles have a nasty tendency to drop frames, you can't really control it. When a loading screen comes up I've seen 200FPS or 3FPS, when lots of enemies get on the screen I've seen it go from 60 to 20 then back to normal. You can't help it with consoles.

If it's not letting you record because of dropped frames, uncheck the box that stops recording on dropped frames. You won't notice a difference with the recorded file.

  • Spool.. It wouldn't work for a MacBook pro 15"?

  • @thatfatkid69 It won't work for any laptop

  • Was wondering if my graphics card is capable of using this product i have a ATI Radeon HD 5450 i'm pretty sure it should be able to but would like a second opinion before i buy it

  • @IIBREENERII I don't know much about ATI graphics cards. If it has more than 512MB of RAM then you'll be fine.

  • @mario11168 What problem did you have with the HauggePaugge HDPVR?

  • Comment removed

  • so WITH the breaker cables can you have an HD output for the ps3?

  • @Acidairsoft HDMI output yes

  • you could also get an HDMI or Component Amp, to have no lag but you'll need 3 HDMI cables cables though. 1 input 2 outputs(Computer and TV)

  • @gamers209 I get little to no lag in the Preview Screen in the Media Express program. Even if you do, it doesn't matter, you get absolutely no lag when you have the signal outputted because the signal isn't affected by anything done to it, it just goes through as if it were one cable.

  • @NxGxDeMoNzZx As far as I know you can use the PVR with laptop's as long as it's fast enough, but you can't use this card.

  • OOOH now i get it i commented to early

  • BONEY FINGERS FTW but so i cant connect it to my laptop??????

  • So, i have an ps3 does that mean i cant record in HD? please reply

  • @xGrasju Of course you can, you just have to use Component cables instead of HDMI. You can have Component input and HDMI output though.

  • @mario11168 Can you do a tutorial how to connect it with a ps3 it would help all ps3 gamers alot

  • @xGrasju That's basically what this tutorial is... I show how to connect Component, whatever console it connects to is a matter of the other side of the video connector. This setup works for Wii, PS3, or 360, and you can use HDMI for output if you want.

  • @mario11168 so i got the black majic intensity pro the unergizer component cabl what else do i need can you give the name of the cables and wgere to get it from

  • @xTheTrueGoat The only other thing you'd need is the output cables, which can be either HDMI or another set of component cables.

  • my laptop has like 6 family pci express can i use a bmi ?

  • @Klshnikov Unless you have a bulky laptop there'd be nowhere to put this in. You really need a desktop for recording, laptop's just won't cut it.

  • @mario11168 thank for the reply my desktop has 3 and it have 3 really nice open flap for it to perfectly fit in so ill use that : )

  • Be like your favorite YT stars and upload HD clips to YouTube. I am giving away my Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro Capture card. Check out my latest video. My gameplay sucks so I wanted to donate my $200 card to a lucky winner.

  • can you record ps3 gameplay with hdmi on this?

  • @TheLui54321 No, and as far as I know nothing can because of the HDCP signal the PS3's HDMI puts out. You can use Component inputs and HDMI outputs though.

  • @mario11168 what if i use fraps?

  • @TheLui54321 Nope, the card won't detect the signal whatsoever, it's what the HDCP was made for. It won't show up in the Media Express program.

Even if it did, the resolution would be less than 720p, and there'd be no way to output the signal meaning you'd have to play on the (partially) laggy preview screen, completely defeating the purpose of this card.

Use use Component inputs, it's not like it's that hard to read labels...

  • @mario11168 ok thanks for the help

  • @iTzMattyx To be able to use the Intensity Shuttle, which is the USB 3.0 card, you need a motherboard with the X58 chipset or newer and onboard USB 3.0. Using a PCIe USB 3.0 card doesn't usually work.

The card in this video (the Intensity Pro) goes in a PCIexpress slot like a graphics card, so unless you plan on buying a brand new computer this card would be the one for you to get.

  • Ok thank you, And have I gotta buy anything apart form the Black magic? any cables?

  • @xTheClash1x You'll need an extra one for the Output so you can play and record and play at the same time.

  • @imSwanneh PCIexpress is a port on your motherboard that lets you put expansion cards into to do different tasks. Your graphics card, 9 out of 10 times, will go in a PCIexpress x16 slot, which is the biggest on most motherboards today.

This card requires any size PCIe slot to be able to work, meaning you can stick it in an x2 or x16.

  • Hey i want I Capture card to record gameplays of PS3, what should I buy?

  • @xTheClash1x For HD your only real options are the Hauppauge or Black Magic. You HAVE to use component to capture for the PS3, you cannot use HDMI, so either one is just as good at this point, but I would recommend the Black Magic.

  • Is there any department stores i can buy one from ?

  • @Jonny6Foot Unless there's some computer specialty store around you I don't think you'll find this in many places other than online.

  • @imSwanneh Desktop with PCI Express... MOST laptops do not have a PCI Express card so.. You need a desktop

  • @imSwanneh I would recommend getting an HD PVR because they're easier to setup, the software that comes with it is simple... There's lots of videos up about it... but if you want to buy a Blackmagic intensity pro go ahead, you do need a Desktop to put the PCI Card in. The HD PVR comes as a stand alone box that you can use universal remotes with, they don't have HDMI, but at the highest component settings it looks fine. You don't need a desktop for it either.

  • If you get a USB 3.0 converter can you still get the shuttle? Will it work as well or not as well?

  • @vanhalen161 It won't work, you NEED the speed that only USB 3.0 provides to be able to use the Shuttle.

  • @mario11168 OK, just to clairify. In order for the (EXTERNAL) BMI Shuttle to work you have to have a computer where USB 3.0 is installed, not a converter. So on a computer like my own I would have to get The BMI Pro (which to install I have a handy tutorial here :))

  • @vanhalen161 Yes you need the USB 3.0 port, but you also need a motherboard with the X58 chipset or better (P67 and Z68 also count).

If you don't have the money to upgrade, you would have to get the one in the video. The Shuttle and Pro do the same thing, the Pro is just a tad more complicated to install.

  • @mario11168 ok thats for clairifing

  • Comment removed

  • will i be able to Play on the XBOX 360 in HD ? or will i have to play in shitty quality because i had a Dazzle pro HD and i was able to record in hd but i could NOT play in HD. i had to play on SD 480 while recording in 720 which is frickin retarded.

  • @RacMyCoon That Dazzle isn't really HD, which is why you couldn't play it in HD.

This card outputs whatever you put in it, so you can play in 480i, 720p, or 1080i while actually recording in HD, unlike the Dazzle's.

  • Waaaaaait so you can just plug an hdmi cable into your Xbox then one into the card and your set?

  • @TheFootOfGold One goes from your Xbox to the Capture card, then another goes from the Capture card to your TV.

  • 3 P's for support

  • does it have a low profile bracket?

  • Is this HDMI in AND out?

  • @imTwistt HDMI in and out, Component in and out, or even HDMI in Component our or Component in HDMI out

  • @mario11168 Thanks man, that really saves my ass haha. Almost bought it without knowing.

  • @mario11168 you've had your fingers your whole life? that is weird, man.

  • does anyone know if there are any capture cards out there which you dont need a tv for because i use my monitor for gaming.

If anyone knows of a capture that records in hd or good quality which you dont need a tv for can you message me or reply to this

  • @MINECRAFTxJOE Use this card. You can use Component Input and HDMI output for a monitor with HDMI.

If your monitor doesn't have HDMI, you're out of luck.

  • @mario11168 but will there be any lag

  • @MINECRAFTxJOE Nope.

  • mhh

  • Can you hook this up to windows? If not can you tell me what is compatible with it?

  • @pokemaster2101 Can you watch all 4 videos in the tutorial before asking questions, as 99% of them are already answered there and in the description...

  • @mario11168 Could you install this on an alienware M14x?

  • @aphillips888 Open it and see if you have an open PCIe port

  • @mario11168 Do i need a certian type of pci port? or will any work?

  • @aphillips888 Any size works. Don't confuse it for a PCI port, you need PCIe (PCI express). Use Google Images for the difference if you need to.

  • where do i hook that shit up on my mac 10.5.8 -_-

  • @skatermattarangatang Isn't that the Operating System you have... If you can open up your mac, open it up, look for a PCIe port, and put it in there. If you have like an iMac or something similar, you won't be able to.

  • The 70's call.. They want there carpet back!

  • wait, 1080i? Why not 1080p??? Also why do we need a 3.0 USB port, that just doesn't make any sense. Finally, what kind of raid do we need? (how many hard drives, etc.)

  • @HeroDanny 1080i and 1080p have the same resolution, you won't notice much difference. You don't need USB 3.0 unless you plan on using the Intensity Shuttle; this video is for Intensity Pro. You don't need a RAID, but it would be useful to have RAID 0 if you could afford it just because it's awesome.

  • @mario11168 there is actually a big difference between 1080i and 1080p, However I overlooked one thing, halo isn't even in 1080p technically, it is actually 720p. So Problem solved. Thank you for all your help. You really answered all my questions with great timing and accuracy. Alas, I have one more question, or suggestion (if you will). I think it would be awesome for a video on how to set up a RAID 0 recommended for the black magic intensity. (non pro).

  • @HeroDanny Both are 1920x1080 resolution, and especially on YouTube, hardly anyone notices a difference.

As far as I know, there's only 2 ways to set up RAID 0: Two hard drives, RAID controller on your motherboard (or separate if your mobo doesn't have one) and the instruction booklet. There's lots of videos/guides on how to setup RAID already, and especially when it isn't necessary I don't see a point in making a tutorial for Intensity. The Pro version just comes with breaker cables btw.

  • @HeroDanny And another thing, Halo 3 isn't even in 720p. I think it's actually in 640p, but I know it's in some weird resolution that doesn't technically exist. The rest is just upscaled... Stupid Bungie. I don't even think any of the Halo's are above 720p...

  • @mario11168 Yeah bungie seriously is retarded. They can't make a game in 1080p and make a game run in 60fps. I mean what mainstream game runs in fucking 30fps. fucking bullshit.. anyway, I thought about it some more and I don't even think my motherboard can support this card. even the non pro edition. I just have a hunch that it won't because you need to have some kick ass MoBo and I guess I probably have a shit one. lol.... =/

  • @HeroDanny As I said the only difference between Pro and Non Pro is the included breaker cable...

The motherboard I had was pretty cruddy compared to today's ones. As long as you have an open PCIe port of any size, and the recommended system requirements (dual core, 4GB RAM, 512MB video card, decent HDD) you'll be good.

  • @mario11168 hmm my pc specs are just good enough it seems... I have a dual core CPU (pentium) I have 6GB RAM (DDR2 unfortunately) Video card is pretty decent though at 1GB dedicated. My H-drive is probably not good enough at 660GB and 7200 RPM, not really that good. The mobo i really have little to no information on I am going to have to take a shot in the dark If i want to place a bid on this card.

  • @HeroDanny HDD's more than enough if you don't have 80% of the space taken up or something. The only thing in question might be your processor... You can always send the card back if it doesn't work you know.

  • @mario11168 Not if it is on ebay =/ Also I agree I was thinking of upgrading my processor.... kind of dislike mine. It is only 2.6 GHz blah... I wanna get an i7 core processor... that would be nice.. however I am buying a laptop so I think I shouldn't waste too much of my money

  • @HeroDanny i7 is a really good processor, but i5's work just as well if you need to save money.

  • Can someone plzzzzz answer me if i

get an HD PVR and a laptop would it work with an HDMI

  • @Trxgic The PVR cannot record HDMI. The only external capture card I've seen that can record HDMI is the Intensity Shuttle, and it requires USB 3.0 and at least an x58 motherboard.

  • @mario11168 All I have is an HDMI Cable and the original composite cable... So uh... What more do I need?

  • @jamie007pwnz For the 360, another HDMI cable for the outputs. For PS3/Wii, a Component cable for inputs and you can use the HDMI for outputs.

  • @mario11168 Thank you! So all I need is 2 HDMI Cables if I have a 360? And the other cables the BMIP comes with?

  • @jamie007pwnz The Breaker Cable that comes with the BMI won't be used if you use HDMI with the 360.

  • A cheaper alternative would be a Roxio Capture Card. Lets you play in HD and caps in 480p :D

  • @BLACKxxOPSxx I've been hearing about that card.. It's exactly the Hauppauge, but so much better because it's $100 cheaper, and I doubt it could possibly have the garbage the Hauppauge comes with.

I'm attempting to acquire a Roxio card, but I doubt I'll be able to. Good: It records Component in HD (like Hauppauge) but costs $100. Bad: Doesn't have HDMI, and I have no idea what formats it records in. Time to do some hunting.

  • @mario11168 the quality on the Roxio is shit lmao

  • @PhinlaxXD Is it now? That's kind of hilarious

  • @mario11168 Yes.. I can't wait vids all the way through if they are recorded in 480p, this isn't 2005..

  • Yea i know but im really new at this and i want the best tutorial and cheap capture card all i want is help

  • Can any 1 please tell me if there is a capture card that is really easy to hook up and i need something below 70 dollars and records hdmi and not so many cords so any 1 please help

  • @SoNiiCNaTiiON You won't be able to find a good HD capture card under $70, and that means no HDMI cards. This isn't even that hard to set up..

  • does it work on any pc who has a pci express and windows 7 ?

  • question, if u hook a ps3 to the card, using component cables and hook the hdmi out to ur tv/monitor would it work without using the component out

  • @SilentBlackSnake Component inputs and HDMI outputs will work.

  • Does the HDMI input work on cable box to record HD TV programs?

  • @supernoob1028 If it doesn't have HDCP it will, but since it's sending TV signals it most likely has HDCP. Google around or find someone who can tell you whether or not it does.

  • @mario11168

Just one last thing, would it be possible to use it on a 4gb ram and a 350gb hard drive? I also have a 100gb external hard drive, if that helps?

  • @xYzSnipeClan As long as you have a decent graphics card and at least a dual core processor at 2.6Ghz then yeah

  • @mario11168

what graphic card should you have at least?

not sure what you refer to when saying a decent one, thanks

  • @Od1n89 512MB memory or more

  • @mario11168 So when i buy this product and it arrives, i while just go to somehwere like radio shack and get HDMI cables or component cables? So i will need to buy HDMI cables because i havnt got the slim?

Sorry im kind of knew to this...

  • @xYzSnipeClan Or Walmart or anywhere else that sells them.

You can use Component or HDMI with the regular 360, HDMI is just easier.

  • just wondering, because i may be getting this for my birthday.

    1. When i buy this and it arrives, will i need to buy anything else for it? i play xbox 360?

    2. what is the black magic shuttle? and will i need it?

  • @xYzSnipeClan You'll need Component cables (or HDMI cables if you aren't using the 360 Slim) to go to the card and an extra set to go to your TV.

The Shuttle is exactly what this card is, but external. You need an x58 or better motherboard and USB 3.0 to use it though.

  • Prob a stupid question here boss but you know if you can put this in a x16 slot....my 1x slot is blocked by my vid card....grrr If it is then im easily set but im fucked if not. Wana order but worried id be screwing myself to have to build a new comp!

  • @Niche79 It works in any slot, 1x or 16x or anything in between.

  • @mario11168 you the man, thanks bro. Didnt wana spend 200 and fuck myself over rofl:) Thumbs up to the Penguins!

  • @Niche79 Works perfectly in an x16 slot, just doesn't need any more x1 that to work properly.

  • @KenShadowDragon 1: Yes

2: Dual core, at least 500GB HDD, 4GB DDR2 RAM, and at least 256MB video card but it'd be better if you had 512 or more.

  • that is a piece of shit spend a little more and get the haupauge HDPVR

this thing is completly un usable and i have a really good computer

  • @AmpZeroGaming Then you're doing it wrong, lol. Tell me your problems, I'll help, just so you don't have to go through the pain of having a garbage PVR.

  • Intensity Pro can capture SD just fine o_0

  • @dshawmedia No not really. It doesn't have any real SD inputs, and any time I've tried to capture from the Wii or any other thing that's in SD, it has a really weird resolution.

  • @mario11168 Can't speak for a Wii, but I grab NTSC all the time with mine via the YC/YP. Does a great job from DVD players, VTRs and various other things I've tried.

  • @dshawmedia Interesting.. Whenever I've tried I always get a weird 720x486 format, which for SOME REASON doesn't work in any software I use and leaves bars all over the place when I upload it to YouTube...

  • @mario11168 That's proper NTSC D1 resolution - it'll be interlaced, and it'll come in with a pixel aspect of 0.91 (often rounded to 0.9), 60 fields/sec as per NTSC spec. To get it back out to web, you'd need to be able to edit with those things in mind, and deinterlace the output for best quality. Capture wise, your Wii may be throwing an ED format like 480p30 or 480p24, which aren't technically SD, and not supported by the Intensity. Perhaps you can output via composite or s-video?

  • @dshawmedia Good to know

I have a Dazzle laying around somewhere, and have been thinking I should use that for the Wii instead since it's such a pain to use this card. I have the editing software to do all of what you said, but I imagine I can save myself so much time with the Dazzle

  • Hello again, i am convinced to buy the capture card.. but i need to know if my pc is good enough...

    intel core i3

    4gb ram ddr3

    1tb

    nvidia gt 330 2gb

  • @julianbernhard1 Yea that's enough

  • This is the worst capture device that I've ever used. It drops out SO many frames that it's rendered itself useless. I can take the same tape in the same VCR and connect it to my TV and the signal does not drop out. But the capture card does. Funny thing how the capture card has 1 job to do & it can't even do that. I give this product a 1 out of 10. I once used a device called WIN TV using only a coaxle connection. Didn't drop once & only cost about $30 - frickin unbelievable!!

  • @fnub Crappy computer? Wrong format? Not giving it HD signals? Bad card?

Those are the only reasons it wouldn't work. From the sounds of it, you're trying to record SD, no WONDER a 30 dollar card works better lol

  • @mario11168 Computer being used to capture: i7Quad Core, 12Gb Ram, Raid 0 setup. Not good enough? I highly doubt it.

  • @mario11168 SD footage = less data - no?

  • @fnub You're doing it wrong.

Are you telling me you tried to capture SD signals with an HD capture card? There's your problem, and as said before, no WONDER an SD card works better, lol.

Doesn't matter if it's less data, it's a different signal. This card is made to capture HDMI and Component HD quality signals, it has a very hard time with SD, which is depressing but I don't use SD anything anymore, but that's just me.

  • @fnub Its actually your computer.

  • Can I meet your Penguin and your Chicken? lol

  • ill be glad to take that HD PVR

  • so i cant use this with hdmi on my ps3

  • i have that chicken..

  • @emeljipuroo Uh no I can't. There's SO MANY out there it's impossible, especially with quickly changing. Look for ones with decent specs, basically if the computer you buy can run games on at least High, you'll be able to use this card.

  • why is the s-video always neglected

  • @neilkid123 Impractical. With regular Composite it wasn't the standard connection, making it more convenient to have Composite instead of S-Video. With HD recording introduced, S-Video is basically forgotten. Not a lot of TV's had it, and even the ones that do have 1 port and hardly an output. S-Video output boxes cost like.. $100 back when people used them, not worth it for a little bit better quality.

  • what pc should i buy to support my blackmagic any suggestions ?

  • @TheRELIK101 the Dell Inspiron 620 Mini Tower. You have to get the mini tower, as the slim one has barely anywhere to put it.

  • Holy shit! It's Meatwad!

  • @MinecraftOwnerz It's around $200

  • im using a asus p8p67 with usb 3.0 will the shuttle work with this ?

  • Can I buy the BlackMagic Shuttle ?

  • @Quzga If you
