I have the same cpu cooler and for fans I went with the scythe 120mm slipstream fans. Awesome fans that can move some serous air. Right now I am at 4.5ghz at load of 55*c. Nice build, kinda like mine.
Hey sorry for the total noob question, but i have no idea about building PC, but really want to give a build a try...
In regards to the fans for the heatsink, doesnt having one in between the two components pull hot air from one side and send it straight onto the other one?
sorry if thats a dumb question, just trying to get an idea of whats actually happening there!
Hey forget my other qs it was in regards to something else. How is your cpu running at 100% constant because even when I overclocked mine its jumping around usage, another thing is I have had severe stutter/micro stutter in all my games, mafia 2, battlefield 3, witcher 2. Would you know what might be causing this? I get a min fps of 60 in all games.
@MariusHTX I have Windows 7 Pro b/c I got it for free from my university and it has a few extra features over Home edition that I use and like. And for the drives, how is 2TB overkill? I do a lot of video and photo editing and need the space. I have a server with 12TB that is filling up fast that I need to expand upon and add more drives soon.
@SeanWebsterHD 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X, So there is no clearence issue with these? are they better than G.skill Sniper low 1.25 voltage ram?
8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X
I have a lanboy air I want to fit my SA inside but I want to have no clearance issue with ram. 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X x4 can fit in here in push pull configuration?
@Kikikinglord There is no clearance issue, they fit under the cooler fine, but you will have to take the cooler off to take the RAM out of the first slot. As for what RAM to get, get the cheapest CL9 1600 RAM set imo, there isn't "that much" of a difference above that.
@SeanWebsterHD ^_^. ty. So they can fit so I do not need to get the sniper series anymore unless I want low volt series.. 1.25? would that be better to get those low volt at 1.25 1600 ram or the ones you mentioned.... the sniper have low profile heat sinks, and I guess the higher profile X series disissapates more heat?
@Kikikinglord Lower voltage is always good, it usually puts less stress on the IMC and lowers heat made from the RAM. As for the heat speaders, they really don't matter much, unless you are over volting your RAM and overclocking it you don't need any heat spreader. I leave my RAM at stock timings (for my kit 8-8-8-24-2N @1600MHz) b/c i find there is not much of a gain, stability when overclocked, and if I wanted faster i'd just buy faster RAM.
10 points for tidyness. That case is kinda nice. but i dont know why your roasting it for 8 hours.. just overclock as much as u can untill ur games start bailing and be happy.
@xRougeGamingx Nope, apparently you have no idea what you are talking about and are the "dumbass." The Tcase is 73C, that is not the core temp. The max core temp before the CPU will throttle is ~93C, even then the throttling it to keep it from damage. In teh video above you will see the core temps, the Tcase temp was fine and below the 73C. You can do whatever you like with your chip and I know what I can do with mine. Btw. vCore is more influential to CPU degradation than temp.
@buzz9961 Nice, BTW If you want a little SSD for caching on the integrated mSATA connector I suggest you to get the Z68XP-UD3-iSSD (its the same board with Intel 20GB micro-SSD).
@bardo770 if you having the reboot trouble just go into the BIOS and turn ppl overvoltage or something like that is wirght under the core multiplier in the bios i have a P8Z68 too. but if you have and oc over 4.8ghz i wont suggest you to do it, in that case just live with it .
@vbstein Yea, imo. Intel states that 1.52 is the max VID. I have my vcore set with offset voltage so it adjusts at idle and load, if you set to manual you want to keep below 1.45v. Usually you hit a temp wall before the voltage one unless you have a watercooling set up. And those crappy corsair coolers don't count as such a good watercooling set up. lol
@SeanWebsterHD I have my 2600k overclocked to 4.4ghz at 1.32 and I want push it futher but i dont want to push my luck. As i have Antec Kuhler 920 cooler which does a good job but i dont trust it yet lol
TBH the Hydro series coolers aren't that bad. I use a custom loop, but I've done a bench review for a friend and quite suprised. I am currently undergoing a upgrade (p67 / i5 2500k like urs) cant wait to compare our voltages ^_^
@pn0yb0iProductions Yea, but the difference in performance b/w them is almost non existent when comparing the H100 to the high end air coolers. And you pay more money for it as well. If you want the extra space and noise then they are a good buy. But if you really want good performance w/ watercooling then I'd suggest at least a XPSC RASA RS240 kit for a low price. Had a RS360 kit for a while and switched back to air.
Actualy i have a CoolerMaster 212+ with 2 12cm fans at 1300rpm in push/pull config, how much diference are between this and the Silver Arrow with 2 14cm fans at full speed in celsius?
did you have any problem with the fans of the Silver Arrow and the memory heatspreader? does it fit correctly? i have almost the same PC as you and i gonna buy a Silver Arrow soon
@agustin98k Slight, the fan is resting on top of the Ripjaws X heat spreader. It makes the fan rest higher than normal, I am going to move the fan to the other side of the heat sink soon. Overall I really like the Silver Arrow, it outperforms the D-14 easy.
