  • I think that is the first time I have seen Mike play his Fender Broadcaster on a song other than American Girl.

  • ahhh my fave song of all time. this song gets my heart beating. Seen him live a bunch and everytime its like magic!!!

  • i would say lots of black and white ones; and a couple from Paris who needed to use the telephone

  • i would say lots of black and white ones

  • Me and my band Was not allowed to do Tom Petty covers on a concert once, becuse they didn't think it was music people liked.

We did it anyway and just because of that over 500 people came and watched, and I am from Sweden. So up yours who doesn't like Tom & He's beautiful Heartbreakers!!!

  • he flips u of at 1:02

  • blah blah he looks weird

    but cool song

  • My favorite guitar riff. Thx Campbell.

  • definately a better band with stan. His style was much better than steve's. This band has just changed so much. It would just be totally different if howie was still alive and stan was in the band. It makes you think maybe some of the albums never would have happend.

  • Such a better band with Stan.l

  • tom petty rules

  • The drummer looks a lot like Randy Jackson from Idol-- Tom Petty rules - I listened to his songs when I had my MRI done!

  • effortless genius!!

  • Fantastischer Song und Excellente Musiker Great song

  • this is the best drummer for that song ! He is ......perfect ! He's got feeling - he is in !

  • @tapalota3 Agreed! His pocket for this song is really deep.

  • Orignal Band= 10x better

  • Im 16, and I think everything about Classic Rock is just great. My generation has lost their love for music, they dont like what they listen to! Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, The Doors, Tom Petty, Boston, and so many more are the base for all of our music today. Love them and hold them close.

  • hey, i'm 16 too and i think exactly the same...

  • @DillonTjernlund Boston??? really?

  • @mattcreese88, sure, whats wrong with boston?

  • @mattcreese88 boston fucking kicks ass

  • hey young do listen to this they jus dont listen to old folks like u. dumb ppl listen to rap

  • @fid2d How incredibly narrow minded!!!!!!!!! nice one

  • @fid2d rap isnt dumb by u even saying tthat makes u dumb

  • @fid2d music is rock is popo is rnb is indie is classical and everything in between! you only listen to this sort of music because your parents did which was the music of there time. its not the music of your time but it doesnt mean its shit. Music reflects society and how times have changed. songs dont need to mention writing letters to love ones coz it s all done through facebook and texts! - this is society, technology, music, art, architecture, fashion, poetry adapting to change!!

  • @Kenshi2k7 numb one my parents never showed me this music my drugs did k??? and i said rap today is dumb not in general i listen to underground and old school its still the same shit going on dumbass's except now its in different sectors. u guys think ur special our time was different man u kids dont understand! stfu hows that for tech. the more things chandge the more they stay the same

  • @fid2d but u ARE generalising it 'dumb ppl listen to rap' you made the comment you didnt mention that it wasnt in general. im just not going to bother

  • what a peformance. The drummer...so accurate and gently wow! That's a lifetime memories for everyone who was there.

  • tom petty can wear a guitar and not play it if he wants because he is tom petty. duh

  • Tom Could wear a Grand Piano and not play it... he is Tom Petty

  • what's the point of wearing a guitar if you're not going to play it? lol

  • fms51 says i have i kid and he like tom petty a lot!

  • ill break down yea its alright

  • See the problem is kids now a days dont listen to real music like this, they listen to fake rock like Jonas Brothers, and all this rap crap,

  • You realize that whiny comments like that is why them young whipper-snappers think this music is a joke, don't you?

  • naw, cause they aren't raised right.

  • DAMN FINE! - thank you for the cohesive version

  • .......fuckin hot....!!!!!!!

  • Damn he is hot!

  • very easy to get stuck in your head

  • Long live Stan Lynch!! He should've been behind the set.

  • I love how angrily he sings this one. Classic Petty =)

  • this is one of the songs where you HAVE to sing along!

  • The electric guitar rules here on this one!!!

  • Good to see hes still an odd bastard then - They allways did v good songs mind!

  • Thank you, FILMORE!!

    San Francisco shows always rule.

  • Don't know the year, but it was a couple weeks before "Echo" was released.

This is from the DVD called "High Grass Dogs"

  • It says '99 in the description, man.

  • it say march 15th-16th 1999 in decription

  • wo random doll on speaker

now where did the man touch you?

  • thank god you can't wear out a DVD, because this disc hasn't left my disc changer in years.

  • 0:52 !!!

  • What is up with the CREEPY DOLL on the speaker at :52???

    Eeeekkk!!!

  • omg that is creepy! especially to a clown/doll-hater like me lol...

  • This is fantastic version

  • One of the greatest music beginnings of all-time.

  • Fool to cry is up there too

  • classic song

  • It's the Heartbreakers. Lynch (who went on to play with Henly)was replaced by Steve Ferrone during Full Moon Fever. Howie is on bass and had a bad drug problem(and looking like it's prob one of his last live performances) so they brought back Ron Blair who was the original bass player. I see Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench so I guess you were just throw by Steve Ferrone. Oh, Scott Thurston who played in the background with Tom for decades.

  • Did they really pick up Steve Ferrone that early?

because on the Running Down a Dream, he said they had auditions after lynch left and the first to play was ferrone and they all played You don't know how it feels and they knew right away they wanted ferrone in the band.

  • I'll have to double check the 4 disc DVD, but I think so

  • oh, okay, i am almost positive it was like 1994. ( that's when wildflowers was released )

  • that drummer looks like randy from american idol

  • Uh, yeah, that is Tom Petty, but those don't look like the Heartbreakers, especially the drummer. What's up with that?

  • Steve Ferrone's been the drummer since that one guy left back in the day...

  • I believe the other drummers name is Stan Lynch.

  • caught it!

  • haha, at 1:02 he flips the byrd!

  • He's holding the pick for his guitar in his hand, not flipping the bird!
