  • @smuck06 go watch spongebob

  • most of Cronenbergs early stuff is demented horror :D I also like his new movies Eastern Promises or A History of Violence but damn he had his peak during the 70ties and 80ties for sure.

  • Oh, to smoke in public again!

  • so, did the costume designer find a great deal on beige trench coats, or what? note to wardrobe dept.: to make a character look homeless, do not dress him in brand new clean clothes

  • Thank you so much! Been searching for this for eons!

  • As a Vulcan mindfreak, Vale is in his own way as scary as Revok

  • one of the sickest classics.horror flicks were great then.im gonna suck ur brain dry

  • @silicon605 YEYA!

  • If it is remade, I fear it will not have that good old trashy feel that comes from films of an era before CGI and digital efects. I am not knocking the new school. But for me personaly, the gore from older films felt way more real and tactile. It really gave you a sense that some bad shit really happened, and thats what and exploding head really looked like. even if it didn't.

  • @MrSatan666ism totally agree!

  • Go Edward Longshanks

  • THEDMC30... You my newest, bestest friend.

    Yeah, I said it. Best-EST.

  • I first saw a clip of this first scene on terror in the aisles it made me wanna watch so far I'm impressed.

  • Note that guy in the glasses trying to contain that lady as she spazes out: is that Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys?

  • So 1981. Nostalgic.

  • Thats called Mind-Rape and they're both about to bust some serious nut till the organization showed up ruined it for all of em!!!

  • Bitch shouldnt have been talkin so much shit

  • it brings good memories !!!! Qué buena peli de mi infancia !

  • Thanks for uploading. You don't have The Fury do you?

  • There SHOULD NOT be a remake.... just enjoy David Cronenberg for David Cronenberg............ There is only one.... :)

  • @whm3 "there should not be a remake" is usually the best policy. same with pre-quels!

  • 7:36 who's the red-haired actress? she has a very familiar face.

  • 7:39 who's that actress? very familiar face.

  • I always thought the professor always pronounced the word "scanner" funny. "You're a ssssscann'r!"

  • Holy crap, I've been looking for this forever at various libraries and they never had a copy. Thank you so much for uploading the whole shebang!

  • @onlyfowatchin18plus I fucking love that band!

  • THANK YOU, THEDMC30!

  • I figured it was time I knew more about this movie than "this is the movie where a head explodes" so I looked it up. :D

  • classic

  • Masterpiece.

  • Remake? Why?Yes the special effects could be better but the rest. This movie is great in this form and on the level of the time of its production too.

  • @bikficc Personally i don't think the effects will be better either, they'll probably be less creative and more expensive. I hear they're remaking Videodrome too, which is an even worse idea. And now that we're at it, also Blade Runner is being remade. Find me the creeps that are responsible and i'll annihilate them personally with relish.

  • Love the score music! Howard Shore is to Cronenberg what Bernard Hermann was to Hitchcock; can't imagine the films without the music, it seems to be so in tune with Cronenberg's themes.

  • 3:00 good aim.

  • I remember when you could smoke anywhere. now it's too damn expensive and the idea of freedom is rediculous. we are getting too damn sensitive as americans!

  • @dkopfler You ain't smoking dixie ! ! !

  • same mall as fat times at Ridgement High

  • Don't eat too much junk food!

  • Oh MAN, I wish there were still malls like that these days- 1980s interiors are so BITCHIN!!! ;) These days its all boring sterile guff.

  • @ariesscorpiorising I don't know about that...I've been to plenty of malls and they seem to look very nice and stylish to me.

  • @ariesscorpiorising That was only because they had more bright color, like dark orange, red, browns, bright yellow,n olive green and all those garish 70's colors. LOL

  • @ariesscorpiorising lsd makes everything bitchin

  • 1:38-1:50, I believe the women were actually speaking French; the dubbing is horrible.

  • A true Canadian classic...right up there with Arcand's "Decline of the American Empire" and "The Dog Who Stopped the War".

  • thanks man..if you have lifeforce(80s scifi) please upload it

  • Remake won't be as good. Horror movies made in the 70's and 80's have a certain quality to them that can't be duplicated or enhanced.

  • @reesewithoutherspoon I agree with you 100%. It's not just nostalgia, there's more charm to movies made back in those days. By the way, do you notice the gorgeous shopping mall in this scene? You don't see shopping malls like this anymore, it's quite sad. I believe this scene was shot somewhere in Montreal. I wonder if this mall still exists, if it does I'm sure it doesn't look like this anymore. I'm a mall enthusiast and it's sad to see that so many are abandoned and getting torn down.

  • @reesewithoutherspoon Indeed! :)

  • @reesewithoutherspoon that would be how completely vulgar and obviously fake they are

  • @reesewithoutherspoon this is amazing cause i just said the exact thing to my friend exactly 5 seconds before i posted this......... omg its like u read my mind 1 year ago :D

  • @reesewithoutherspoon Yes they absolutely can, and especially right now, since hauntology > most things.

The problem is that, obviously, a remake will attempt to NOT look like a movie about telepaths from the 80's. It's possible, but not probable.

  • Also, because the over-use of digital effects, everything looks frikkin' clean' if you get my drift, movies from the 70's and 80's used on camera effects, which made the stuff look used and dirty.

Jeez, in modern movies they even don't use on camera blood effects and body hits anymore, they use cheesy fake looking CG blood effects, everything now looks like a damn computer game...Again, boring like hell.

  • CG can be good, if used sparingly and only when it's absolutely needed.

Gollum in the Lord of the Rings movies for example is a good example of CG done right and a creature like that would be down right impossible to do with puppets and look believable.

I really believe that if it can be done on camera, then they should.

  • thanks for uploading the movie,,,

  • luuuv this movie! simple yet original story.. love almost all of d.cronenberg's movies. thanks for uploading bro

  • Videodrome is also being remade! Could be heaven or hell!

  • I'm obsessed with horror movie!

  • i love this show i saw it when it come out in the 80s

  • great film

  • Thanks for uploading this.

  • This was filmed in Montreal, huh ?

  • hooray! Thanks for uploading this.

  • 80s, era of creepy synth soundtracks.

  • she's got some good looking legs for an older woman.

  • @PhillipH903 As much as I hate to admit it, you've got a point there XD

  • @PhillipH903 Dude that film came on tv here in the uk over the weekend and I've come back to youtube just to check out those legs! They're awesome!

  • @PhillipH903 shes dying on the floor, n im checking out her legs, i feel guilty

  • @Ardie83 eww, the old lady? Damn i kind of was scoping them legs too, i feel nasty now

  • @Ardie83 i'm afraid that's what most of the people would do...including myself either...i'm sorry...

  • @PhillipH903 it's all in the botox, future u know

  • @PhillipH903 i know lmao!!!! thats not a stunt double or nothing hahaha! :-P

  • @PhillipH903 That's what I was thinking

  • Ah ha, Cameron is a bum on the streets, must be hard to be a telepathic genuis these days.

  • you are bum on the chair...bum on the toilet and bum on the bed..

but he is just a bum on the street

  • @ria1313 never seen a person who is just a pair of buttocks before.

  • Any idea when the remake is coming out???

  • I don't know. but some say the writer for the remake will be the co-writer of Batman Begins & The Dark Knight, David S. Goyer, and the director of Saw II, III, IV, Darren Lynn Bousman. The remake is in delay.

  • @THEDMC30 I have issues with remakes. Why can't people just leave the originals alone?!

  • @limbdarkening I know I hate that shit too. It's because they can't think of anything new anymore. They even remake movies that sucked the first time.

  • @THEDMC30

read that the script was by some unknown from new jersey and his story mirrors the original slightly and gives us something new as compared to a remake where they try to do the same gags over and over

  • @THEDMC30 Sounds like its gonna be crap with that kind of director.......now if you got someone like David Fincher then you might be looking at something great.

  • there is a tv series in progress right now the project started this year

  • @thingrizzly i agree, David Fincher fucks my shit up.

  • @MegaLeedavid Oh god, you've got to be kidding me!

  • @MegaLeedavid, it's supposed to be released sometime in 2011

  • @MegaLeedavid Hopefully never. It doesn't need remaking it's perfect the way it is.

  • the remake will not be a movie it will be a TV series

  • Cronenberg is a god at films

  • this film is ace

  • spaceballs baby!!!

  • They used to have this movie full length just like 3 months ago, but then pulled all the parts. Thanks for bringing it back!

  • thanks for uploading. this movie is hard to find now. It's amazing to see how Montreal has changed since the time this movie was made.

  • rad movie thanks a lot man
