The light sensor senses the light from infront of the receiver. Different colors means a different light amount. The light sensor sense light, not color...but color is a different light :3

i researched about both sets , the nxt 2.0 colour sensor is different from the 1.0 light sensor , the nxt 2.0 colour sensor can tell apart 6 colours and the light sensor just tells light intensity (it can sense colours too because it senses light

no. you can connect the robot to a bluetooth capable phone so you can use it as a remote control

I have basic NXT pack and it is awesome. But color sensor sounds good.

But actually the biggest problem NXT has only three servo motors. It's sad.

Afterwards i can say that NXT is awesome and everyone could try it. But it cost simply too much. Because i didn't found it from Finland i had to bought it from abroad. For me it overall costs about 370 euros. Damnit overpriced toys...

What's the difference ? All it says is there's a light sensor, but i'm sure there was one before.

And the ball shooter which comes in another lego technic set.

The light sensor is actually a color sensor so it tells colors and not just reflected light in %'s The kit comes with more parts (better parts) such as treads and the zamor shooter. THe kit also removed the sound sensor and added a second touch sensor. the software is new which has datalogging and rc built in and much much more. The difference is just a new look for an old product :) Im a very big lego mindstorms fan so this is a must buy for me (added on to the 2 NXTs i already have).

surprisingly the main buyers of NXT are programmers who want to build robots but lack the mechanical engineering skills, NXT lets you really mess about the logic side of robots while keeping the engineering predefined in the lego way.
